Chapter 40

Avery

I just finished my last show in Atlanta. It was probably my best show of the tour. My wonderful fans showed me so much love that it felt like I was born and raised here. I honestly think the fans were happy that I had OutKast, Ludacris, Lil John, and Gucci Mane come out and bless the stage more than anything. I couldn't do a show and not show respect to the ones that helped put Atlanta on the map. Atlanta will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm glad Bee convinced me to stay and expand our company here.

The best thing of all was my friends and family showing up to support me. I think it was four or five rows filled with the people that I love and care about. I caught a few glimpses of my kids with their sound-control headphones and my beautiful wife dancing and rapping along. The happiness on their faces was everything. I couldn't wait to see them, but I had obligations.

I took my shower and got changed into something more comfortable. I went with my go-to outfit; jeans, a black t-shirt, and a pair of Jordans. Andrew, Myles, and Kai were waiting for me as usual. I knew they were happy to finally get a break and go back to their families. They all hugged and congratulated me on a successful tour. They were the ones that needed and deserved the praise and acknowledgment. They put up with a lot from me, including my demands, rants, and sometimes irrational moods. I told them to have a seat as I reached into my backpack for their gifts.

"I just want to let you all know just how much I appreciate you all for everything. Without you, I couldn't have gotten through this tour and the chaos that happened last year. I know I can be hard to deal with sometimes... So, here is a lil something to show my appreciation," I said, handing them the envelopes.

"Aww, Avery. This is sweet, but you didn't have to give me anything. We are family. You are the annoying little brother I always wanted," she teased.

She opened the letter and gasped. I knew she was happy that I paid for her upcoming destination wedding in Bora Bora. Then she started crying and gave me a hug.

"I can't believe you did this. Thank you so much," she cried.

"You are welcome. Now it's your turn to cry, Myles. Open it," I joked.

He opened his envelope and read it. Then the tears started flowing. He couldn't even speak. I knew it would get him. I wrote him a check to start his men's accessories line. It's been something he always wanted to do. He just couldn't secure a loan large enough to have a storefront. I figured I'd help, so he wouldn't have to go into debt. He finally got himself together enough to thank me.

"Thanks, Avery. You have no idea how much this means to me," Myles said, rubbing his face.

"I know and you are welcome.” I smiled.

"I hope whatever is in this envelope doesn't have me acting like these two," Drew joked.

"I doubt it," I laughed.

He opened it and smiled. I knew I wouldn't see a tear from him. Drew wasn't the emotional type. I gave him his dream vacation. Three months to travel Africa, any part he wanted to see. It was something he always wanted to do, but with my hectic schedule, he never had the time. I planned on staying home and out of the limelight for a while and spend some time with my family. I definitely was going to work on knocking up my fine ass wife.

"Thanks, man. I appreciate this. Well, I got to get you to yo crazy ass fans," he said, standing up.

We left and headed to the VIP lounge. I am grateful for my fans. Without them, there would be no Profit or Profit Entertainment. I had to give them that love back. I took my time and talked to them. I took pictures and signed autographs. I did what I could to put smiles on their faces. There were a few women that were too grabby, rubbing on my chest, thighs, butt, and privates. Stuff I didn't understand how they could be so bold enough to do to a stranger. Drew took care of it quickly and discreetly.

After I did my final meet and greet, I got ready to go home. I didn't want to go to anyone's club. I just wanted to chill with my family. My family and friends agreed to meet me later, so I could spend the rest of the night with them. I knew it was late and I appreciated them making the sacrifice for me.

On the drive home, I reflected on my tour and everything else going on in my life. It was an amazing experience. I always loved touring, but this time around was harder than ever before. I missed my family too much. I had some really good times with my touring family too. The best part for me was when Blaire came out to see me. She came to New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, and San Francisco. I got to see my kids twice during the tour. She brought them to LA and San Diego. She surprised me in San Francisco. We didn't even leave the room or come up for air. We made love all day and night. I'll admit that I didn't give my best at that show. I was exhausted, but it was worth it. Her visits made my tour go by faster.

We were doing good in every aspect of our relationship. I had my Bee back. She was happy and confident. All of our enemies were long gone and our business was still thriving. Gabrielle got a 5-year sentence. Angela took a plea deal for one year in jail. They both have a long-term restraining order against them. My insurance company finally got the money returned from Henry's accounts. All the people involved with my daughter's kidnapping and extortion are in prison.

Anastasia and Future are not together anymore. I knew that wasn't going to last. Future can't stay in a relationship to save his life. He didn't bother me anymore. He actually apologized to me. We're cordial, but I refuse to work with him again. Harlow and I are on good terms again. I called her to apologize for my distrust in her. I gave her a huge raise and a long vacation for the misunderstanding. I hope our friendship will continue.

I forced myself to put all those thoughts behind me as Drew pulled up to my driveway. I don't think I've ever been this excited to be home. We got out of the car. I had to make my way through all the cars on my driveway. My block was packed with cars too. I knew my neighbors are probably pissed. I headed toward the front door. Once inside, I was eager to find my wife.

The house was full of music, chatter, and laughter. Maddie and Aiden ran up to me and clung to me. I walked a few steps with them on my legs causing them to giggle. While Aiden continued to hang on, Maddie got off and hugged me.

"Daddy, I'm so happy that you're home. I missed you," she beamed.

"I missed you too, princess," I said, playing in her curls.

She scrunched up her face. She waved goodbye and went to play with her cousins. I picked up Aiden and made my rounds around the house. I greeted and hugged my sister, my parents, in-laws, and friends. Even Aubrey and J. Cole were here with their families. My son didn't want me to put him down, so he clung even tighter to me. Aubrey came over to me and tried to take him. Aiden wasn't having it.

"I see how it is, lil man. I thought I was your favorite," he said playfully to Aiden.

Aiden giggled and then buried his face into my chest.

"Don't take it personal. He hasn't seen me in weeks. You know how it is," I said.

"I know. Well, go talk to your family," he said.

He walked away to catch up with my wife's cousin, Taylor. I noticed that every time Taylor was around Aubrey was all up in her face. Taylor looked a lot like Blaire so I understood the attraction. My son and I walked to the backyard. As I talked with everyone, I didn't see Blaire. On my way back inside, I ran into Jade, Blaire's best friend. She told me she was in the kitchen. She took Aiden from me and I was surprised he went to her.

I headed to the kitchen. I should have known that my wife was working or doing something. She rarely takes the time to enjoy the party. Bee always has to be the dutiful host. I saw her lighting the sparklers on a cake. She finished and turned around and jumped a bit. I knew I scared her and I felt bad about it.

"Jesus! You scared me... And you are ruining your surprise," she complained.

"I'm sorry. I'll go back into the living room and pretend to be surprised," I said.

"Whatever. Bye, Philip," she said dismissively.

"Who the hell is Philip? You better not be having another man up in my house," I said playfully.

"Whatever, Av. Anyway, 'Bye Philip' is the male equivalent to 'Bye Felicia'. I heard one of my nieces say it. Doesn't make sense now that I think about it," she said with a wide smile.

I laughed and kissed her cheek. She shooed me out of the kitchen. I left and headed to the living room. A few moments later, she came out with the cake and I pretended to be surprised. My dad got everyone's attention so they could come into the living room and quiet down. The music was turned off and everyone waited for someone to speak. Blaire placed the cake on the side table and grabbed my hand.

"I just want to welcome back my wonderful husband. He did such an amazing job on his album and tour. He was a beast on that stage tonight and I was totally fangirling," she said.

Everyone laughed and cheered. Then it got quiet again.

"We are happy that you are home. I hope you enjoy your cake,” she said, looking into my eyes.

Her gaze almost made my heart stop. She pointed at the pointed the cake, taking me out of my trance. I focused on the cake and I knew it was my favorite, a chocolate cake with chocolate-dipped strawberries. It said Welcome Home, Profit. We Love You in chocolate piping. I never thought a cake could make me so happy and emotional. I appreciated it and felt the love from everyone, especially my wife.

"Thanks, baby. Everyone give it up for the best woman in the world, my amazing wife!” I shouted.

Everyone applauded for her. As I tried to grab a chocolate-dipped strawberry, Bee slapped my hand away. Then she mouthed 'not yet'. I chuckled and grabbed her hand.

"Thanks, everyone. I have a speech. You all know that last year was really rough for us... but we made it. There is no one I would go to hell and back for but him. I just want to thank this wonderful man right here. He's put me back together when I fell apart. He's been my everything. My best friend, partner, coach, support system, and even my boss at one point... And most importantly, he's the love of my life... I love you so much, Av. I'm so happy you are home," she cried.

I was crying too. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. I pulled her closer to me and kissed her. Then I wrapped my arm around her, looking deep into her eyes.

"Thank you, Bee, I can't even express how much I love and appreciate you. I knew it was something special about you the day I meet you at Columbia Records. I tried to be your man, but you wasn't having it.” I laughed. “It took 6 or 7 years for you to finally give me a chance. I can't believe 11 years later we are here. Thank you for not giving up on me," I said, wiping away her tears.

She pulled me in for another kiss.

"Get a room!" Blake shouted.

"Alright. Well, enough with all the sappy love stuff. Let's party y'all," I said smiling.

Everyone laughed and the music was turned back up. I grabbed a chocolate-dipped strawberry and finally ate it. I grabbed my wife's hand. I guided her back to the kitchen. I was thankful that it was empty. After I threw away the stem, I picked her up and placed her on the counter. She leaned toward me and kissed me gently.

"What's this about? We are not having sex in my kitchen with all these people in our house," she said, folding her arms.

"It's my house. I can do what I want," I said, rubbing on her thighs.

"You are too much," she giggled.

"Seriously, I just wanted a moment alone with you. I missed you.”

"You are so sweet. I missed you too. Can't wait until our anniversary. We can be alone for two whole weeks. No kids, no work, no media, just us.”

"I can't wait either. I wanted to thank you again for tonight.”

"You know I'll do anything for you. I'm happy that you are enjoying yourself. Let's get back to the party. I want to dance with you all night, ” she said, rolling her hips.

"Be ready to do other things all night too.”

She blushed and kissed me again. I helped her get down. Then we headed back to the living room. We joined in with everyone and started dancing. She pulled me close and whined her hips on me. I held her tighter, loving the way her body felt against mine. The music changed and she was backing that thang up on me. I love how free and fun she was as we danced like no one was watching. After a few songs, I sat down and pulled Bee onto my lap. I just needed her in my arms.

I watched as everyone hugged, laughed, danced, ate, and smiled. It's a blessing to have this many people love and support us. This was the life I dreamed about. I have my beautiful wife, children, and I make a good living doing what I love. I have everything I want and need. Whoever said you can't have it all lied.
