CHAPTER SIXTEEN: SUNDAY DATES! (THEIR SUNDAY DATES)

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!

The class sighed, so do me, this world literature class is really getting more boring and boring each day! —It’s killing us! Even the nerds complain.

William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe and many other poets, writers and literature enthusiasts are so great to talk about but—I am half asleep in this class.

Professor Wills fault! Yes, her fault! Professor Queen Elizabeth Wills, old fashioned and boring! That what makes our lit. class to be so boring. Her name really suits her.

We excitedly went out of the room to escape from the killing boredom. My friends and I headed to the lockers. And when we reached our lockers, I opened mine and …another letter appeared—I’m really getting used to this. I put it in my bag and put out my morning classes’ things and grab my things for the afternoon classes then closed my locker.

“Let’s go?” I invited.

“Sure.” Mike quickly answered.

“Where are we going?” Shane asked, as we walk on the hallway.

“I don’t know…anywhere, I guess. Just keep me away from the creeps of Mrs. Wills.” I said and they laughed.

“Okay, let’s go to the school ground…”

“Okay.”

We walked to the school ground. Rich and Mike are chatting, Shane’s reading while I checked my Facebook account via my iPhone, Wi-Fi is really excellent in our school. And I so love it! Obviously, we’re busy with own businesses but we walked beside each other. Then, Rich stopped suddenly and we turned to her, actually all people did, stopping anything we are doing. She stopped because someone stood in front of her. And that someone is Sean Ford, you know the guy that she has a crush on.

Let me describe him for you. He has blonde hair, fair complexion, six feet tall with nice built muscles, well, he’s a football player that’s why, and with beautiful oceanic blue eyes that Rich loves. She always blabs about that.

They are just quietly standing looking at each other and us too to them.

‘So?? What’s all about the blocking thing? Speak Sean!’

“Uhm…” He trailed off and cleared his throat. I elbowed Rich’s arm and she snapped.

“What?” Rich managed to ask. He licked his lip nervously.

“Ah…” He uttered.

‘Okay are you chickening to speak? The heck!’

“Hey...” Rich said.

“Uhm...Rich. Will you go out with me this Sunday?”

“I mean if you’re free.” He continued hurriedly, scratching the back of his head smiling shyly.

‘Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sean asked Rich in a date!! Oh, my! So sweet!’

Shane and I giggled slyly, grinning from ear to ear. Rich almost gaped with a weird face when I elbowed her again and controlled it. I think the thought haven’t sink in yet.

“Rich?” He said with a hopeful face.

“Hey! Earth to Rich!” Shane and I screamed on her and she snapped.

“Y-yeah...?” Rich turned to us.

“So? He asked you out…” Shane pointed out. She looked back at him.

“So?” He asked.

“Kill the tension.” Mike spoke.

“Sure…I’ll go out with you.” She said, lowering her head as she tinged while a smile grew on Sean’s face. I even heard him mumbled ‘Yes.’

“Okay, then see you on Sunday, I’ll fetch you up at three.”

“Sure.” She agreed, looking back at him.

“Alright, see you then.” He said and hurried off the hallway.

We drastically squealed that moment and Rich just covered her ears.

“Shut up you two!” Mike scolded but we ignored him.

“Oh my! Rich it finally happened!” I said.

“Lucky Bitch.” Someone spoiled the moment. When I turned, I saw Christy, one of the cheerleaders with her friends.

“No slutty business to bother?” I shot back at her with one brow raised and they just turned around and flounced away from us.

“Don’t mind them they are just insecure.” I said.

“So, so what shall we do?” I gushed suddenly.

“Huh?” Rich asked, puzzled.

“Duh! For your date you need to be “drop-dead” gorgeous!” I said, gesturing an air quotation at drop-dead and it sank in to her.

“Oh yes! Oh my! What shall I do?!” She said panicky—the usual Rich.

“Don’t worry; we’ll go shopping on Saturday after the orientation.”

“Can I come? I also love to shop!” Shane gushed in.

“Sure, why not.” I said.

“And Mike…can you come with us?” I turned to him.

“Why?”

“We need you to carry our bags.” I said, grinning.

“That’s mean.”

“Please.” I plead, giving him my puppy eyes.

“Okay.” He sighed.

‘I know he can’t resist that! Yes!’

“Thanks! Love ’ya!”

Because of what happened we didn’t have the time to go to the school ground, instead we headed to our next class before the bell rings. Next class will be Professor Tan’s; can’t be late.

Rich

I am busy chatting with Mike about nothing in particular. And then, I suddenly halted when someone stood right in front of me.

‘DAMN! Why is he here??’

My heart started beating faster and faster….

We just stared each other like we are having a staring match for few minutes then he spoke…breaking the silence. Well, actually he just trailed off.

Jadyn elbowed me and I snapped to talk.

“What?” I managed to ask. He licked his lip nervously.

‘God! He’s so cute even he’s nervous! But this is surreal…he actually made the first move to talk to me!’

“Ah…” He uttered.

‘Oh my! What does he want to say??? I can feel tensions in my body.’

“Hey...” I said. My hands are now clammy and I saw him close and release his fist.

“Uhm...Rich. Will you go out with me this Sunday?” He said and it rung my ear.

“I mean if you’re free.” He continued hurriedly, scratching the back of his head smiling shyly.

‘Huh? Did he just ask me out? Did he?’

“Rich?” He said with a hopeful face.

“Hey! Earth to Rich!” Shane and Jadyn screamed on me and I snapped.

“Y-yeah...?” I turned to them.

“So? He asked you out…” Shane pointed out. I looked back at him.

‘Yes, he did ask me out!!’

“So?” He asked.

‘So, Rich what are you going to say? Yes? Or No? What?’

“Kill the tension.” Mike spoke and I snapped.

‘I’ll say yes! This is it! This is my opportunity; I don’t want to lose it!’

“Sure…I’ll go out with you.” I said, lowering my head as I tinged.

‘I really can feel a different feeling of happiness! I am going out with Sean on Sunday! He asked me out!’

“Okay, then see you on Sunday, I’ll fetch you up at three.”

“Sure.” I agreed, looking back at him.

“Alright, see you then.” He said and hurried off the hallway.

They drastically squealed that moment and I just covered my ears—my ever-modest friends are so quiet. Take note of the sarcasm.

“Shut up you two!” Mike scolded but they ignored him.

“Oh my! Rich it finally happened!” Jadyn said.

‘Yes, she’s right. It finally happened! All my daydreams!’

“Lucky Bitch.” Someone said and I saw Christy, one of the cheerleaders not pleased of my date with Sean.

‘There are always the mean girls…*Sigh. *’

“No slutty business to bother?” Jadyn shot back at her with one brow raised and they just turned around and flounced away from us. Well, you can really expect her to defend you from those bitches.

“Don’t mind them they are just insecure.” Jadyn said, turning to me, grimacing.

“So, so what shall we do?” She gushed suddenly.

“Huh?” I asked, puzzled.

“Duh! For your date you need to be “drop-dead” gorgeous!” She said, gesturing an air quotation at drop-dead.

‘Oh yes! I should prepare for that day. I don’t want Sean to regret that he asked me out… What am I going to do???’

“Oh yes! Oh my! What shall I do?!” I said panicky.

“Don’t worry; we’ll go shopping on Saturday after the orientation.” Jadyn said, grinning and I grin back.

‘I don’t know what will happen to me if they are not here for me…’

“Can I come? I also love to shop!” Shane gushed in.

“Sure, why not.” Jadyn said.

Then she asked Mike to come with us, well to be a baggage carrier, he wants to refuse but she gave him a pleading puppy eyes and he gave in…as usual. She knows it.

‘Now, I’m just so excited for Sunday.’

Jadyn

After grabbing some toffees and chocolate milk shake from the cafeteria, well unlike other school our school cafeteria serves what we like, we headed to the school grounds to hang out. We sat under a big tree and as usual we’re noisy.

“So what time are you going to shop?” Mike asked.

“Two, I guess, since the orientation will end at twelve…unsurely and I still have to change you know.” I said.

“Oh, yeah…I almost forgot.” He said nodding.

“The choir’s going to be there right?” Shane asked, taking a pause from reading.

“Yup.” He said and slurped his Choco-shake and tossed a toffee in his mouth.

“Hey, Mike. What’s up?” The guy said as they bump fists and we looked at them. He sat beside him and in front of Shane.

This guy is Drake Raive, one of the campus hotties, a jock from the basketball team which links to his height…he’s six feet tall. He’s a black-haired guy with rare violet eyes that has a strong jaw line. His muscles are toned up with his sports and really looking good.

‘But he’s not my type, to clarify.’

“Just hanging around with them.…” Mike said pointing on us with his thumb.

“Oh, yeah. Hi, by the way guys…” He greeted on us, smiling.

“Hi!” We chorused, smiling back at him.

Then, there was silence.

“Hey, Shane.” He called to her.

“Yeah?” She answered turning to him from her book.

“Just want to ask if you’re free on Sunday?” He said and we all raised brows on him…except for Shane.

“Yeah, I’m free.” She answered, nodding.

“Why?” She continued then he smiled.

‘Well, he’s acting weird today. And this day is unusual.’

“I…” He trailed off.

“…sort of want to…” He paused and looked down.

“…ask you in a date on Sunday...?” He said hesitantly then looked at her. And we are just stoned in our place…almost jaws dropped.

‘Whoa! Whoa! Wait! Did he just ask Shane in a date?? First, Rich was asked by Sean…now, Drake asked Shane! Whatta day! for them…’

“So?” He asked.

“Sure…no prob.” Shane answered. He double-take…us too.

“Y-Yes?” He clarified.

“Yeah…” She said and he grinned.

“Ahhhh… yeah... so I’ll fetch you at six in your house.” He said happily.

“Okay.” She answered, nodding.

“Thanks...” He answered.

“Drake!” Someone called and he turned.

“Yeah?”

“Practice time!” He said and he lifts himself to stand.

“Okay!” He shouts back at him.

“So, see you on Sunday, Shane!” He turned to her and she nodded with a smile.

“Bye guys!” He said waving us good bye and hurried off.

“Bye!” We said.

“Wow! You two have dates!! I am jealous!” I said and pout.

“You can date with me.” Mike said grinning on me.

“Whatever!” I said and stuck a tongue on him and he laughed.

“Don’t worry you’ll have a date sooner or later…” Rich comforted me.

“He-he. Nah, it doesn’t really matter.” I said.

“Liar.” Mike said in a sing-song and so I threw a toffee on him.

“Shut up!” I said.

“So, shopping on Saturday! Yippee!” I changed the topic.

“Yeah.” They chorused.

‘Oh, well I can’t be jealous…I should be happy for my friends not bitter…my time will come.’

After finishing our snacks, I went to my practice while they went to their after-school activities.

Shane

“Hey, Mike. What’s up?” A voice rose and I just know who it is…. Drake Raive—my crush...childhood crush.

I kept myself busy by reading…by his mere presence gives me frenzy feeling.

“Just hanging around with them.…” Mike said.

“Oh, yeah. Hi, by the way guys…” He greeted on us, smiling.

‘*Sigh*…that cute smile…it always hooks me up.’

“Hi!” We chorused, smiling back at him. I looked at him but immediately went back to reading.

There was silence.

“Hey, Shane.” He called to me. And I felt chills run in my body…his voice awakens me.

“Yeah?” I answered turning to him taking away my attention from my book.

“Just want to ask if you’re free on Sunday?” He said and, I saw my friends raised eyebrows.

‘Is he going to ask me…in that? I hope...?’

“Yeah, I’m free.” I answered, nodding.

“Why?” I continued then he smiled.

‘That smile again…’

“I…” He trailed off.

“…sort of want to…” He paused and looked down.

‘Oh my! I can feel my heart throbbing…louder and louder…faster and faster…’

“…ask you in a date on Sunday...?” He said hesitantly then looked at me. And we are just stoned in our place…almost jaws dropped.

‘Is this for real? OMG! He asked me out!’

“So?” He asked and I snapped.

“Sure…no prob.” I answered calmly as possible.

‘If only you know Drake I want to scream yes and jump around because you asked me out but I can’t…I don’t want to…’

He double-takes…

“Y-Yes?” He clarified.

“Yeah…” I said and he grinned.

“Ahhhh… yeah... So, I’ll fetch you at six in your house.” He said happily.

‘IT IS TRUE!’

“Okay.” I answered, nodding.

“Thanks...” He answered.

“Drake!” Someone called and he turned.

“Yeah?”

“Practice time!” He said and he lifts himself to stand.

“Okay!” He shouts back at him.

“So, see you on Sunday, Shane!” He turned to me and I nodded with a smile.

“Bye guys!” He said waving us good bye and hurried off.

“Bye!” We said.

“Wow! You two have dates!! I am jealous!” Jadyn said and pout.

“You can date with me.” Mike said grinning on her.

“Whatever!” She said and stuck a tongue on him and he laughed.

“Don’t worry you’ll have a date sooner or later…” Rich comforted her.

“He-he. Nah, it doesn’t really matter.” She said.

“Liar.” Mike said in a sing-song and so she threw a toffee on him.

“Shut up!” She said.

“So, shopping on Saturday! Yippee!” She changed the topic.

“Yeah.” We chorused.

‘Well, I really pray that Jadyn will be happy like us…like me today…. *Sigh. *’

I went home after we finished our snacks. Happily, I am smiling all the way home.
