Chapter FOURTEEN

“You know what our mother used to tell us as children?” Kingston smirked as Nino stepped into his home already knowing. “She’d say that it didn’t matter where we were in this world. We’d always know when the other one was in trouble.”

“So, you knew something was up before I called you?” Kingston asked with a playful roll of his eyes.

“I’ve been off all day. Felt like one of you needed me. Was I wrong?” the tattooed asshole said with a wink as he pulled out his gun. Octavius had been at the house only a few minutes before his brother. Octavius sat scrolling through his phone with a gun pointed at the back of Brice’s head.

“Alright let’s wake him up and find out what the fuck he knows,” Octavius said as he stood up placing his phone in his back pocket. With a large meaty hand, he smacked the shit of Brice, jolting him out of his unconscious state. The young man startled awake. You could see the young man was nervous even with swollen eyes.

“I ain’t saying’ shit, so let me bloody go!” Brice shouted. His outburst earned him another hard slap to the face by Octavius. Kingston moved to lean on the coffee table in front of the bloody man.

“Not sure if you’re stupid or blind, but I don’t think you are in any position to be demanding anything from us. Now tell me why you threatened my twins and tried to rape my wife.”

“Fiancée,” the bloody man spat with malice.

“What?” Kingston said as he furrowed his eyebrows.

“She isn’t your wife yet. She’s your fucking fiancée. God, you Americans are so goddamn—“ The man was cut off by a solid punch to the face. Kingston shook from the pain his hand felt as he watched Brice’s nose leak.

“I know somebody sent you and my guess is it’s the same fucker who had an old bitch shoot my wife. Now you can tell me the easy fucking way, or the hard way. Either way, I’ll find out.”

“I’ll take hard, for three hundred,” Brice said as he turned his head and spat blood from his mouth. Kingston cracked his neck as he stood to his feet. He wanted to kill the man. Watch the life drain from him until there was nothing fucking left, but he knew that wasn’t sensible.

“Only question I have for you is this, before I let Nino take you on a little trip to his funhouse.”

“Hey, don’t insult my dungeon,” Nino said with a scoff.

“Shut up Nino,” Octavius grumbled as he rolled his eyes.

“All of you need to shut up,” Brice grunted making all the Moore brothers and Pierre laugh. “What’s your question old man?”

“Can my woman get pregnant? She said you said something that made her believe that she could,” Kingston waited for the man to answer, but after a few minutes he realized he wasn’t. “Get him out of my sight.”

With those words, Nino, Octavius, and Pierre, moved Brice out of the house with the promise of keeping him informed of what they found. Once Kingston’s house was empty, he went upstairs to find Nadia very much awake, sitting on the end of the bed.

“Nadia, baby…you alright?” Kingston asked as he went to squat down in front of her. Nadia’s face went from serious to bubbling over with happiness in seconds. “Talk to me baby, what’s going on?”

“I’m late Kingston. I’m two weeks late.”

***

Nadia didn’t know how to feel. Her chest was tight, her stomach fluttered, and suddenly it was hard to breathe. After she told Kingston she was two weeks late, he immediately took her to the hospital despite Nadia trying to convince him that they could just go buy a pregnancy test. Of course, the stubborn man refused, saying that a blood test was more accurate, and he wasn’t wrong.

“Say it again,” Nadia said in a daze and Kingston bent down to capture her lips. He kissed her slowly, not caring that the nurse was still in the room.

“You’re pregnant,” he hummed against her lips and a sob tore through Nadia at the same time a giggle did. It was an odd noise of pure excitement. The contradicting sounds made Kingston laugh himself.

“So, here are some sample prenatal vitamins, let Mrs. Moore try these out, and when she chooses her OBGYN, he or she will be able to prescribe her what best fits her needs,” the nurse said with a smile. “Also, I would advise that you set up her first doctor’s appointment immediately since she’s going on eight weeks.” Nadia gasped in shock. She thought her period wasn’t coming the last two months because of the injury, but no. It was due to the little life growing in her.

“We’ve taken home pregnancy tests that have all come up negative. Is there a reason for that?” Kingston asked the nurse.

“Yes, sometimes estrogen levels aren’t high enough in her urine to be detected by a home pregnancy test. Some women get well into five months of pregnancy, not knowing they are pregnant; that’s why blood tests are the most effective.” Kingston nodded and thanked the nurse, before she left to give them a moment alone.

“Oh my god. I’m going to have a baby!” the happy woman squealed as she threw her arms around Kingston’s neck. He overjoyed himself and held his fiancée close to him. His life was starting to blossom into something beautiful. He was grateful for it.

That night after the twins were down, Nadia and Kingston sat down to have a very serious conversation.

“I know this is a happy day baby girl, but we have to talk about something important,” Kingston said as he flicked off the T.V. to turn toward Nadia. She gave him a small smile nodding to tell him she was fine to talk about it.

“When you were in the hospital all those months ago, I was forced to realize that you never talked about your family, so I went out and tried to find them. I didn’t find any immediate family or any family that was still living, but what I did find is that you did have a mother and father who loved you. Both were killed on the same day for reasons I’m unsure of, but I found that they had left you money.”

“Money?” Nadia asked as she stared at Kingston.

“Yeah, six million to be exact.”’

“Damn,” Nadia said as she looked down and bit her lip.

“I can only assume that they gave you up to protect you. They didn’t want harm to come your way, but they wanted to make sure you were taken care of. That’s why they left you more than money,” Kingston watched as Nadia’s head snapped up and she looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.

“You heard me right. They left you six million dollars, and a home in Italy.” The man inhaled deeply and fought to say his next sentence. “I won’t hold you here baby. You’re free to go there and live it’s all—”

“Kingston, shut up,” Nadia said as she rolled her eyes. Like a puppy Kingston got up and followed her into the kitchen. It was then that he noticed her hips were fuller and so was her stomach.

How had he not noticed, and how the fuck was she showing so soon?

“I’m not leaving you or my babies. No amount of money could make me do that,” Nadia said, making Kingston smile so wide that he was sure it’d touch his ears. He watched as Nadia took a drink of juice and downed one of her prenatal vitamins.

“I know baby,” he said truthfully as he stepped toward her. “Just wanted you to know you had the option to do what you want. I don’t want you to feel obligated or trapped.” He kissed her mouth tasting the lingering fruit juice on her lips, making him deepen the kiss. Nadia gave into his affection immediately moaning as Kingston backed her against the kitchen counter. He lifted her in one swift movement making her yelp in surprise.

“This is the most amazing dream come true,” Kingston said with a small smile. Nadia giggled and held him tighter. She nuzzled his neck and found herself nipping at the skin.

“I never dreamed before. Never hoped for anything, but you changed that Kingston. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for making me a mother.”
