Bachelorette Hell

“I can’t get over how beautiful it is here, Dani,” Lia exclaimed as they sat in Dani’s suite at the resort.

“I know, destination wedding, I’m tellin’ ya!” She teased.

“No wedding here any time soon.” Lia pointed to herself, leaning back on the bed, waiting for Dani to finish getting ready for her bachelorette evening.

“Never know. Cody loves you, the way he looks at you. God, I wish Nathan looked at me that way, and we’re about to get married!” She cried out, hands flailing above her.

“Oh my gosh. This weekend is about you, okay? Not me.”

“Fine, Fine! I’m ready, though, so let’s do this!” She clapped her hands together. Dani dressed with her hair up in a high ponytail, wearing a pink, strapless summer dress and wedge shoes. She was beautiful as always. Lia wore a navy blue halter dress, strappy heels to match. Her hair down in waves, and her make-up light as usual. As they exited the room, they ran straight into Cody and Nathan.

“Wow.” Cody smiled. “You look amazing.” He kissed Lia’s cheek softly.

“Thank you. You boys going to behave tonight?” She teased.

“Never!” Nathan laughed, kissing Dani. She gave him a warning look.

“Of course, babe, I’m just getting it over with and ready for tomorrow.” He smiled genuinely.

“Okay, you two. Be safe, be smart and be on time tomorrow!” Lia demanded, then grabbing Dani’s hand went off to meet the other girls for their fun night ahead.

“I’m so excited for you guys!!” Tara squealed as they all took a shot at the club. Tara, Cameron, Dani, Lia, and a couple of other girls from Dani’s family were there to celebrate. Just a short, comfortable night out, obviously not wanting to be hungover and miserable during the wedding tomorrow evening.

“Anyone know what the guys are up to?” Cameron asked.

“Nope, I couldn’t get a word out of him. I can’t imagine Trevor (Dr. Wallin’s) letting loose with them, though.” Dani laughed. They all made their way to the dance floor, grinding and swaying along with each other.

“Tomorrow, I am officially your sister!” Dani hugged Lia, giggling.

“Tomorrow, you’re officially stuck with my brother!” Lia laughed, teasing.

“Hey, Hot stuff, wanna dance?” Some man, black hair, blue eyes, and muscular build, asked Lia, coming up behind them, interrupting their moment.

“Oh, Um. No thanks. I’m here with my girls.” She laughed, feeling herself blush.

“Ah, c’mon. Just one little dance?” My friend is already dancing with your friend over there.” He nodded toward Cameron, dancing with a blonde hair guy.

“Go for it, Lia!” Dani laughed, pushing her. Lia mentally noting to get her back for this.

“One dance.” Lia was content with her relationship with Cody. They had no labels, but she felt it was mutually exclusive, and she enjoyed that for now. Tonight was about having fun, and this was harmless, or so she thought.

“There we go! What’s your name, pretty lady?” He asked as they started swaying together.“Lia. Yours?”

“Toby. What brings you, girls, out tonight all alone?” He smirked at her, putting his hands lightly on her waist.

“Bachelorette celebration.” Lia smiled, trying to distance herself from his hands.

“Ohh, that sounds like some fun trouble for me and the guys.” He teased.

“No trouble, not for us. Most of us are taken.”

“Are you?”

“So you have a boyfriend?”

“Well, technically no. But yes.” Lia laughed, feeling silly. Hating that alcohol gave her such loose lips.

“What in the hell does that mean?” He threw his head back in laughter. “If you were my girl, I’d put a label and a ring on it straight away. You’re too hot to be out on your own.” Toby winked.

“We just haven’t put a label on it. It’s all good.”

“So, you say. Sounds like an idiot to me.”

“Now, that’s not kind. I think our one dance is over anyway. Have a fun night Toby.” Lia started to part ways, but he grabbed her arm.

“I’m sorry.. just stating facts, babe. One more dance, please?” He smiled.

“No thanks.”

“C’mon now?”

“Um, maybe later, okay? I’m going to check on my girls.” Lia got out of his grip and found the girls back at their booth.

“Jesus Dani, if you do that to me again, I swear to everything holy I will kill you.” Lia grabbed her

drink, slamming it back.

“What?! It was just a dance.” She giggled, clearly on a good buzz.

“No, dude is crazy. I’m only here for you gals, so let’s stick to dancing with each other, please?” Lia begged.

Dani laughed, and the others agreed, though Cameron was still off with the blonde hair guy. They continued their evening, sipping drinks and dancing. The DJ gave Dani and the girls a shoutout, giving them even more attention; fortunately, Lia didn’t have any further encounters with Toby. As they were winding down the night about to head back to their rooms, Lia went to the restroom.

“I’ll catch up, you guys head-on, and I’ll meet you to get the uber.” She started, her bladder screaming at her to hurry up. She rounded the corner to the bathrooms and ran straight into what felt like a brick wall. She looked up to see Toby standing there, smirking at her.

“We meet again.”

“I’m trying to get to the ladies’ room and then catch up with my friends.” Lia started around him. She could smell the alcohol fuming off of him.

“You said one more dance.” He slurred.

“I said MAYBE later, but we’re leaving. Excuse me.” Toby grabbed her arm, painfully this time.

“Well, I said one more dance.” He started to sloppily sway and hold her in an attempt to dance right outside the restrooms.

“Toby, I’m sorry, but I need to go.” Lia pulled back as Toby grabbed her arm, pulling her into the men’s room and shoving her against the wall.

“You’re not going anywhere until I get a dance.”

Lia felt the fear building up in her, she looked around, and of course, the room was empty. She scanned for items to use as a weapon or anything to help her get away from him. As she was scanning, Toby turned the lock on the restroom door.

“Just me and you pretty lady, one dance.” His droopy eyes winked at her.

“Toby, please. I just need to use the restroom then catch up with my friends.”

“You can do that after our dance.” He grabbed her hips, pulling her hard into him. Lia decided to give in and hoping that after a dance, she could go. How sadly she was mistaken. Toby’s hands started to explore her body much more than Lia was comfortable with. She swatted him away several times, but he was becoming more aggressive and angrier.

“I can touch you while we dance.” He growled.

“No, you can’t. The dance is almost done, and then I’m going, okay?”

“Nah, maybe I’ll take you back to my room.” He laughed, this deep, bone-chilling laugh.

“Toby, please.” Lia could feel the tears building up. She was genuinely terrified at this point. She wondered why no man had tried to enter the restroom or question why the door was locked or why her friends had not come looking for her. As she was wondering these things, she felt her phone vibrate in her purse. She let go of Toby and grabbed it; she barely read a text from Cody asking how the evening was going when Toby pulled the phone from her hand.

“What are you doing?”

“I told you, my friends are looking for me.”

“Seems like to me they left you.” He laughed, spit flying out of his mouth, making Lia’s stomach churn. Toby started typing a message while Lia tried to grab her phone back.

“Uh, ah, ah. I’m just letting Cody know where ya are.” He turned away, laughing. Lia took her chance and started crying for help and went to unlock the door; just as she did, Toby turned and backhanded her across the face knocking her down.

“C’mon. I thought we were having fun?” He kneeled down next to her, showing her that he had sent Cody a picture of himself, saying she was having a great time with her new friend.

“You’re stupid, he won’t believe that, and now he knows who to look for to kill after he finds me.”

Toby slapped her again as they heard banging on the bathroom door.

“Occupied man!” He yelled. Lia held her stinging face in her hands, the tears burning, she went to scream out, but Toby covered her mouth as he slid his hand up her dress.

“I’m gonna get something for all this trouble, you stupid bitch. All I wanted was a dance.” The banging on the door continued as Toby took his hands further and touched Lia in ways she hadn’t been touched in years and in ways she only had wanted Cody to touch her. She could see her phone lighting up and vibrating across the bathroom floor as she tried to ignore what was happening to her. Toby was so strong he had her pinned down and was nearly suffocating her by covering her mouth and nose. She squirmed as much as she could, but he seemed to enjoy that, so she stopped. She felt herself giving up.

Toby finished what he wanted and then looked her straight in the eyes. “I’m going to move you now, and you are not going to say one word. Do you understand me? I’m leaving, and you can come out once I’m gone. I will kill you if I have to, do you understand?” Lia shook her head no, trying to bite his hand. Before she could do anything else, she saw his balled-up fist coming toward her, and everything went black.
