Nia POV
Prologue
I put the car in park as he unbuckled his seat belt and opened the passenger door. With both feet, he stands up and stumbles towards the left side of his house, heading to the backyard. He starts pulling his shirt over his head, trying to take it off when he stumbles into the hammock. Tipping to the side, he tries to kick off his shoes but fails. He swings around to face me, grabbing both of my hands, and falls back onto the hammock, pulling me with him.
I shut my eyes and froze, unaware of what he was doing. Opening my eyes, I saw I was on his chest. I tilted my head back, looking up at him to find him looking down at me with a crooked smile. I rolled from him onto my back, laying my head back to look up at the dark night sky. There were not that many stars out that night, but the moon lit up the sky.
“Uhm... Ace, what are you doing?”
He doesn’t answer me, he just continues looking at the dark sky. It was late at two in the morning, but I don’t think he had any idea what he was doing due to he had been drinking. I turned my head to face him.
“Are you going to answer me?”
He rolled on his side facing me; I rolled so I was completely facing him. I looked into his deep green eyes, they were so strong and had a touch of saddest to them. I broke the stare and looked down at his soft chin.
“Ace” I whispered.
“Yeah?”
“What are we doing; it’s chilly out here. Don’t you want to go inside and crawl into your bed?”
“Only if you go with me.”
Blushing, I looked back into his eyes.
I was shocked by his comment. “Ummm... I don’t think that is a good idea. I can walk you in, but that’s it.”
“No, I want you to stay with me.”
I looked down at his slowly rising chest. My heart is racing; I thread my fingers together.
“You don’t know what you are saying. You’re...”
Before I knew it, he cuffed my chin, and tilted it up to him; his eyes were lost. I cleared my throat.
“You’re drunk.”
He leans his head down towards me, placing his soft, warm lips on mine. A tingling sensation went through my body. I laid there, frozen. Not realizing what I was doing, I started moving my lips back against his. Wrapping his lips around my bottom lip before forcing his tongue into my mouth, his breath smelling like Hennessy with a hint of coke.
He put his hand on my neck, pulling me closer while his tongue clashed with mine. On my thigh, I feel his hard cock causing a trembling feeling to shoot from my lips to my inner thighs.
I place my hand on his chest and with little force I pushed him off me, putting space between us. Our tongues untwined and I rolled away from him, landing on my back, looking up at the sky. I sat up and put my hands on the hammock to push off and headed to the back door to the house. Walking toward the house, I hear the hammock moving and footsteps following behind me. Ace grabbed my hand slightly, turning me to face him. He was panting.
“Shit, I’m sorry.”
“Ace, what the hell?”
“I didn’t mean-”
“No one just kisses someone without the intention to!”
“Is that why you kissed me back?”
I spun around and continued to march toward the back of the house. He sped, walked around me, stopping in front of me, stretching his arms out to keep me from going around him.
“Ace, stop!” I raised my voice, but not enough for anyone to hear us in the backyard.
“Shhh... I’m sorry, it’s just-.”
He stumbles back.
“It’s just what?” I crossed my arms over my chest while shifting most of my weight to my left foot.
He catches his balance and tries to look me in my eyes. His eyes are different, he puts his hands down and looked at the ground.
I take a step forward towards him.
“It’s just, Uhm... I have these feelings for you.”
I step back, putting my hands up and waving them to get him to stop talking.
“Ace”
“Dammit, listen!”
He looks up, taking steps closer to me.
I was stung by the raise of his voice. I just stood there and put my hands down. As if I had no idea what feelings he was talking about and why he has been weird around me.
“I don’t know why I have these feelings for you. For crying out loud, you are my little sister’s best friend! But for some damn reason, I have these strong feelings for you, and it’s been like this for a while now.”
While looking into his eyes, I started to slowly walk towards him. He looked away from me, dropping his head.
“Ace, you’ve been drinking.”
He huffed and turned away and started to walk away from me.
“I know I’ve been drinking, but it doesn’t stop me from having this love for you.”
“Ace. I......”
Taking my attention from what is happening, my phone vibrated and dinged. I took it out of my back pocket and the screen lit up. There was a text message from Meli.
When I looked up to continue reasoning with Ace, he already made it across the yard to the back door.
I turned around and started walking back to the hammock. At this point, I did not know what to think, but I know I could not go into that house after what just happened. I made it to the hammock, kicking my shoes off under it, I climbed in and laid my head back to look up at the late-night sky.
My phone vibrated and dinged again; I pulled it above my face as I laid down. It was another message from Meli.
I laid there thinking, were we okay, and what does this mean for us now.
