Chapter 37 Brett

Brett paced around the living room, waiting for Jenny to be ready for their day out. He’d spent all morning planning their day. He couldn’t wait to show her how much he could love her and connect with her.

“While you two are out, I am meeting with a realtor. They will help get us started on selling this place so we can find a house that is perfect,” Dustin announced, walking into the living room. Brett sighed and nodded.

“Are you okay?”

“Nervous to take Jenny out and not make a mistake. I know I overstepped with the marriage thing and I don’t want to do it again.”

“Brett, you know she loves you. She loves me too. Just be aware of her needs.”

“That is something you are better at. I am used to being in charge and everyone going along with it. You are the one who is good with emotions.” Brett ran a nervous hand through his hair.

“I am ready,” Jenny called, while walking out of their shared room. The weather was still chilly, so she wore a gray sweater dress with black leggings and ankle boots. She’d pulled her hair into a fishtail braid. Brett couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

“You are beautiful,” he told her, walking forward in awe of her beauty. He always thought she was beautiful, but today she seemed to glow.

“Thanks. Where are we headed for our date?” she asked, and he shook his head.

“Nope, it is a surprise.” He pecked her cheek and offered her his arm.

“Have funned you two. I’ll have all the information for us to go over when you get back.” Dustin kissed Jenny gently on the lips and let them go.

“Since today is a special day, I have my driver, Lawrence, take us. I want to spend the entire day with you.” Brett opened the limo door, ushering Jenny into the car.

“I’m excited.” Jenny smiled up at him and patted the spot next to her. Brett pulled the door shut and grabbed Jenny, passionately kissing her, before Lawrence interrupted them.

“Where to, sir?”

“I gave you the list in an email,” Brett replied, not wanting their stops to be a surprise.

“Can you at least tell me if we are eating first or doing an activity?” Jenny begged, nipping at his ear. Brett moaned, almost giving in to his mate.

“We are doing an activity, but that is all I am going to share with you.” Brett pressed her against the door and captured her mouth for another frustratingly fervent kiss. He’d promised himself no sex on their date. He wanted to show her they could spend time together and not end up in bed. Her moans were not helping his resolve.

“We are here, sir,” Lawrence announced as the limo came to a stop. Brett released Jenny with a sigh and opened the car door. He helped her out of the limo and wrapped an arm around her waist. He waited for her to look up, and she gasped.

“Brett, we are playing mini golf?” Jenny gave him a surprised look and he inwardly fist pumped. He wanted her to be surprised throughout the day.

“Yes. I wanted to rent the place out for privacy, but thought better of it.” He smiled at her as she beamed.

“Well, isn’t being around others part of the fun of a date? Getting lost in our own world while people enjoy themselves around us? I also didn’t want to be a dick and ruin someone else’s good time by taking the place.”

“Wow, very mature thinking on your part.”

“I have my moments,” he joked, and walked her into the mini golf building. At the counter there was a woman with bleach blond hair cut short with pink highlights. She had a nose ring and dark eye makeup.

“Two for a round of black light mini golf, please,” he told the girl.

“That will be thirty dollars,” she replied in a bored tone. Brett handed her his credit card. He noticed she had black nail polish and rings on each of her fingers.

“What color balls?” she asked, handing him his card back.

“I’d like green,” Jenny replied, taking her golf club.

“Red is fine for me,” Brett answered, taking the small club from the girl.

“Here you go. Eighteen holes of fun.” She handed them their balls and motioned for them to go inside the mini-golf range.

“Do you want to keep score?” Brett asked, and Jenny gave him a sheepish look.

“Well, can I introduce you to the way my family used to play mini-golf?”

“Yes, you talk little about your family.”

“Everyone is busy with their lives. My sister is married and has a baby on the way. I didn’t have the money to get out and visit her often. She is in Iowa. My brother is a successful investor in California with a model girlfriend. My parents live out near my sister to help her with the new baby when it comes.”

“Do you want to go out and see them?”

“I would, but I don’t know how to explain I am with both you and Dustin. Won’t people think it’s strange I am with two men?”

“They might, but Dustin and I have known since the beginning we would share one woman. You are our mate and will have our protection and support no matter what,” Brett promised, and then smiled.

“Now, tell me how your family plays.” He motioned for her to start.

“Okay, the way we played was called battle mini-golf. It means everyone gets a good first shot. After that you can mess with each other trying to get in the hole. The only rule is, you can’t hurt each other with the ball or club.” Jenny gave him a mischievous look and took her first swing. She hit the ball close to the hole, but it didn’t go in. Brett settled himself and took a moment to angle the ball. He took a swing, and the ball went wide. Jenny smiled and stepped onto the course, trying to get her ball in the hole. It banked around the edge of the hole but popped out. Brett watched Jenny groan and give him a sinister look.

“What?” Brett asked, and Jenny stepped in front of the hole. He laughed and took his wing. Jenny’s club came down and sent his ball in the opposite direction. At first he was surprised, then narrowed his eyes.

“Okay, now it is game on.” Brett got in the way of her next aim, but Jenny was smarter and sent her ball around, landing it in the hole.

“Yes!” she cheered, and he laughed.

“I get it now. Let’s play the next hole.” Brett shot his ball in the hole as she celebrated, then bent over to pick up the two. The next hour they played. He enjoyed her version of mini-golf, making him laugh more than he had in years. His sides hurt by the time they made it to the eighteenth hole. Both returned to their clubs, and Brett slung his arm over her shoulders.

“Best game ever. We should bring Dustin next time and introduce him to battle mini-golf,” Brett remarked, walking her out to the limo to take them to the next leg of their date.

“I agree, but do you think he’d enjoy it?”

“I do, because it is something you like. Now on to lunch.” Brett opened the limo door and helped her inside. Jenny settled in her same spot, and before the limo even moved, she latched her lips to his. Brett groaned and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist to hold her close.

Thankful for long weekends to get another chapter done. I am sorry updates have been sporadic. It is the end of the school year and I am trying to sell my house. Life is a little crazy. Let me know what you think of the first part of their date!
