Chapter 19- Welcome Home
That same evening Aiden arrives home a little later than expected. Exhausted from the long haul, he pulls into the driveway and notices that Eddie is gone.
“Gone a week, and here I come home to an empty house. What am I going to do with that guy?” Aiden teases, coming to a stop at the garage door.
Inside with his bag over his shoulder, Aiden takes in a deep whiff of the scent he enjoys every day.
“So good to be back home.”
He drops the bag on the floor next to the recliner. Aiden flops down into his chair, taking out his phone to send a text.
Hey, I’m home now. Going to hit the bed since I have to return to work tomorrow. Worn out, later man-Aiden
He sits and waits for about a minute when a reply comes back.
“Cool, I’m at Dakota’s. See you tomorrow evening.” Aiden reads aloud as he settles into his recliner with the A/C to keep him cool for the night.
By the time he arrives home the following afternoon, Aiden pulls up to see Addie’s car parked in the driveway.
“What in the world?” He asks himself, pulling up to see her on the porch.
“Hey stranger, have a good trip?” She calls out.
“Yeah, I had a blast, got to relax finally, I sat on the beach, visited some lighthouses and stopped in Boston, New York, and Philly to take it sights, sounds, and food,” Aiden replies, confused about her interest in his vacation.
Seemingly impressed, Addie motions for him to hurry up, “I need to talk to you. I need to get something off my chest.”
Aiden makes a joke that gets her to snicker, “Chest looks good from where I’m standing. Nice, perky, and very large if I can say so myself.”
“Hurry up, you smartass, we need to talk, like for real.” She reminds him, tapping her foot on the porch.
“Alright, I’m coming. Just hold your panties.”
Addie places her hands over her crotch area. They share a laugh as they walk through the door.
“You look terrific. I love the tan you have going on; very sexy.” Addie says, taking a seat on the couch as Aiden sits across from her.
“What’s up, buttercup?” He begins, comfy on his end of the couch.
“Listen, I’ve been kind of talking to your friend Rey for a little while now. There’s something I’ve meant to tell you for some time and just haven’t been able to do it.”
With a nonchalant expression, Aiden takes a stab at her suggested idea, “Are you referring to the night you fucked me on the couch?”
Her eyes open wide with an instant state of shock, Addie can’t speak.
“I’ll take that as a yes. Listen, it’s no big deal. I give you and Rey my blessing if you wanna hook up.”
“Well yeah, now that the air is cleared, why didn’t you ever say anything? I had fallen for you so hard, so fast that it scared the living hell out of me. Like even now, although I wanna give your friend a chance, I sit here and still want to screw your brains out, and I can’t figure out why.” Addies admits with her cheek barely flushed.
Aiden finds it amusing as he sits there pondering if he should take advantage of the situation.
“You just want my body, and you are attractive, Addie you truly are. If you wanna do it, then come on, I’d love to see those big bare breasts bounce on my lap again.” Aiden says, ready to take Addie’s body.
Stunned at his arrogance, Addie bounces back and forth to make her decision, “God, I want to, but I’m trying to be good. You’re not making it easy. Forget this, I have to go, I’m glad I told you, but you are a smug son of a bitch, you know that. You and Ally are perfect for each other.”
Addie tries to leave, but Aiden reaches out, gripping her wrist.
“If you want me, take me.” He states, turning her around with a kiss and shoves her backward into the door.
Addie tries to fight Aiden off her body and struggles against the urge to surrender when he shoves his hands up under her shirt, lifting her bra and caresses her breasts.
“Tell me you want it.” He whispers.
“No!” She groans as her shirt and bra are lifted higher, “No, don’t, please stop…” She says in an unconvincing manner.
Aiden lowers his mouth over her breast sucking on it.
“Oh yes, goddamn it, Aiden, you fucking bastard.” She struggles to say, putting her hand on the back of his head, “God, you make that feel so damn good.” She continues feeling her body start to slide down the door as they land on the floor.
Aiden uses his weight over her body to reach down and unbutton her pants. Aiden and Addie are interrupted when they hear a car door open and close.
“Fuck!” He yells, pulling himself away from Addie’s breast.
Addie hurries back to their feet and adjusts her bra and shirt. She runs back to the bathroom to cool down as Aiden gets in his chair.
Just as he sits down, a knock emanates from the door, “Come on in,” he yells, pulling out his phone after adjusting himself.
“Yo homie thought I’d stop by and say what’s up,” Rey announces, walking through the door.
“Hey yeah, come on inside and rest up. Addie’s back through there somewhere.”
“Yeah, I saw her car out there. What’s she doing here?” Rey asks with a bit of concern in his voice.
“Stopped in to say hi, I guess. I came home, Then Addie rushed in here and went back to the restroom, I assume.”
Rey exchanges a high five before taking a seat, “Ah cool, yeah, she said she wanted to go out this evening and chill for a bit. I wanted to come by here first and see how the trip went.”
“It went well. I started in Maine, spent a day or two at the beach, and then off to Boston and New York.” Aiden begins.
“Try any of that Brooklyn style pizza?” Rey asks, leaning forward to hear the details.
“Oh yeah, and even got lucky with the cashier there that night too. Boy, she was a hot little slice of heaven. Long dark hair, Italian green eyes, olive skin, toned figure. Ooohhh wee, I tore it up, son.” Addies explains to Rey about that night.
After a good laugh, Rey goes for details, “So, tell me what happened.”
After a deep breath, Aiden shoots about the details.
“I checked into this super nice Courtyard hotel, top floor. So, I’m feeling hungry and looked at the menu they have on the phone listings and see this local joint. Papa Paulie’s Pizzeria, and I figure why not try a little slice of New York’s best right. So, I walk down there and go in with just my muscle shirt and shorts and my sunglasses. Well, I notice this girl checks me out, right. We get to talking since it was somewhat slow. She loves rock music, and I mentioned our band and my trip and whatnot, and she digs it.” Aiden continues, eager to tell Rey more.
He’s interrupted when Addie comes out from the bathroom.
“Hey babe, I didn’t know you were stopping by. Sorry, I hope this doesn’t seem weird, but I needed to pee and remembered Aiden’s schedule.”
“It’s cool. You can sit and listen to the rest of Aiden’s story about a girl he hooked up with from New York if you want.”
Shaking her head, Addie is more than ready to bail, “Nah, I’m good, I’ll uh head to the mall until you’re ready to go eat.”
“Cool, I’ll text ya when I leave, later, angel.”
They exchange a quick kiss, and she leaves without saying a word to Aiden.
“Anyway, man, keep going, come on,” Rey mentions once the door is shut.
Able to regain his train of thought, Aiden begins again, “Anyway, there we were talking, and I gave her my room number at the Courtyard. That evening after they closed up, she came to my room, and we just started going at it hot and heavy.”
Aiden licks his lips, remembering that night. and continues the story, “We’re on the bed making out like teenagers on a first date, and she ripped my shirt off like a hot knife through butter.”
Bobbing his head, Rey’s involved in the story, “Nicely done man, sounds like a hell of a woman.”
Aiden can’t help but keep going with the details.
“Oh, I ain’t done yet. I started to remove her shirt, and she’s not wearing a bra, and I see these firm C cup easily. That girl’s shorts just slide down with ease along with the white thong, and she is cleanly shaven…”
Rey cuts him off, “I get it, we’re good with the story, f’real.”
Aiden takes the hint and raises his hand in the air, “Alright, but hey, you asked, and wow, I needed that trip. I feel like a whole new man from head to toe. I am re-energized and ready to tackle the world.”
Hearing that and seeing the smirk across his best friend’s face, Rey goes over to get a move on since Addie is waiting on him, “Well, I hate to cut this short, but uh, you know I got me a woman waiting on dinner. Peace out, man, it’s good to have you home.”
Together Aiden and Rey exchange another customary handshake as they part ways.
Rey’s not even gone two minutes when a text comes in on Aiden’s phone.
“I wanted to, but we can’t do that again. I hope you understand.” Aiden reads flustered, hoping Addie would have found a way to return.
“Fuck me running backward, guess it’ll be a lonely night for me.” He says, shoving his phone back into his pocket.
Not taking the rejection well, Aiden retreats to the music room, where he practices something he hadn’t touched in quite some time.
“Along comes the pain, in a downpour of rain, nothing’ll ever be the same, we wither and die, waiting for the day we die…”
Writing it all down, Aiden remembers the notes, “Yeah, yeah, I like that so far. It needs a little bit more attitude, though.” He goes on to experiment with the tempo and beat in his mind.
Relaxed with a portable stereo, Aiden listens and finds ways to bring something extra to the band’s new material.
“Ugh, I know what I wanna change, but how?” Frustrated, he lies on the floor, bracing his head with his hands, and shuts his eyes.
Aiden hopes that food would help settle the dispute in his brain. Once he’s up, Aiden goes into the kitchen to microwave a pre-made family-size dinner of Salisbury Steaks and potatoes and takes the time to savor the taste. He’s joined by Eddie when he walks through the door and smells the food on the counter.
“Oh honey, I’m home!” Eddie calls out, mocking the famous line.
“Yeah, yeah, it would be better if you were a blond with a firm C cup and a fine ass to go along with it,” Aiden yells back, finishing up the final new bites.
“Ha, ha, that’s so funny,” Eddie replies, getting a plate to make himself a nuked potato.
“Hey bro, how was the trip?” Eddie asks to keep Aiden in the kitchen for small talk.
As he did with Rey, Aiden dives into the beach’s details in Maine along with the day trips between Boston and New York.
“Bro, yeah bro, you tore it up! Atta boy, finally let loose and acting like a man in your 20’s, about damn time.” Eddie taunts with humor to his voice.
Both friends crack up and return to different topics while Eddie finishes up dinner.
“Say, what do you say we hit the strip this weekend or something, you know. Go out and have some fun for once, I know, we have a gig Saturday at Import Room, again, but Friday night we hit the strip club.” Eddie mentions something different to do.
Aiden thinks it over and doesn’t take long to respond, “Hell yeah, it’s been too long, I haven’t been to one since Dakota’s 21st birthday. The four of us out having fun, I’ll be the D.D., and we can kick back and relax.”
With a hard smack to the table, Eddie gets excited, “That’s the spirit! Finally got our boy back, damn glad to see you back to have fun!”
They continue to cut up, and the boys head out to the back deck after washing off the pair of dirty dishes and kick back on the lounge chairs in the evening sun.
“Tell you what, since there’s no date set yet, let’s make Friday night Dakota’s unofficial pre-bachelor’s party,” Aiden recommends looking into the heavens.
“I like it, let’s do it!”
The week passes by, and when Friday night arrives, Rey and Dakota show up at the house around ten that night.
“Guys, are you ready for a night of fun?” Eddie asks as the four of them sit on the front porch.
“Oh yeah, boys’ night, no chicks, no drama,” Dakota shouts.
“Well, we can’t get anything done if we sit on our asses.” Aiden educates lifted out of the chair.
“Fuck yeah!” Rey shouts, rolling off the railing.
Piled up in Rey’s Nissan Armada, the four of them are off. Within ten minutes, arrive at the newest strip joint in town, The Velvet Room.
“Here we go, fellas. Rey, hand over those keys, please.” Aiden relays his hand stretched out from the back seat.
“Here, man, just don’t lose ’em!”
Once inside, the group finds a table near the stage.
“Hey, I’m going to get the first round for you guys. I’ll be back!” Aiden shouts over the music as their attention is locked on the girl spinning on the pole.
At the bar, he waits for one of the three bartenders, “Hey Sugar, what can I get ya?” Aiden’s asked, waiting patiently.
“Three doubles of Jim Beam and a soda,” Aiden shouts back.
“That’ll be twenty bucks!”
He hands over the money, and within a minute, he carries a tray with drinks.
By the time he sits down, he’s treated to a surprise that Rey couldn’t pass up for him, “Hey man, for agreeing to this, I got you a three-song lap dance. Your dancer’s name is Angel, and she’s a cutie from what I hear.”
Before he can roll his eyes, Aiden is suddenly ripped from his seat when a dancer escorts him to the private booth. The side door opens in the dim-lit room where a brunette with blond and blue highlights walks in.
“Hi, I’m Angel. I’m yours for the next few songs, stud.” She begins in a seductive voice with her back to him, but something strikes Aiden when her voice sounds familiar.
When the music begins, Angel turns around, scooting her feet to the beat over, sliding onto his lap. She lifts her head, and when their eyes meet, both of them gasp and stop dead in the tracks.
Their eyes are locked in place as they gaze deep into the other’s eyes.
“Son of a bitch” he says to keep his hands off her.
“Yeah, really, what are the odds?” Angel cries out in shock.
The first song ends with that being the only interaction.
“You look nice with the blue in your hair.” Aiden compliments her on having something to say.
“Thanks, that tan looks good on you.”
“Thank you, listen; we don’t have to do this.”
Her eyes soften, seeing him become a bit like his old self from when they first met.
“No, you paid, so I dance, here in a second, when the next song begins, I’ll make up for it, I promise.”
Aiden smiles thanks to being nervous and can’t think of anything else to say.
Over the next two songs, every thought possible runs through both their minds.
“God, so much for a break, huh big guy in the sky! Geez, what are the odds?” Aiden thinks over and struggles against the urge to place his hands on her body.
“He’s still so gorgeous and uh, that tan and feeling his muscles. God help me fight to stay away from him again, please.” Ally prays with the urge to kiss her ex.
When it’s over, they look at each other one last time.
“I have more dances waiting, sorry, Aiden. Maybe we can catch up soon.” Aiden says before she vanishes to the back.
“Yeah, catch up soon, yeah.” He babbles in a low groan back to the table, where he sees his friends having a blast as two strippers begin to take Dakota up on stage.
“What’s this?” He shouts, punching Rey in the arm.
“They found out it’s his bachelor party, so he’s about to get cuffed to a chair on stage.
“Oh… By the way, you dickhead, how did you know Ally worked here?”
The look on his face says it all, “DO WHAT?” Rey yells when his eyes grow more.
“So, you didn’t know?” Aiden asks.
“Not a snowball’s chance in Hell did I know, but dude, that had to be fucking weird!” Rey says, turning his head back to the stage.
“Slightly…” Aiden mentions in a normal tone.
Aiden can manage to shake it off and reengages in the night’s activities as he begins tossing money on stage and screams with the rest of the crowd as Dakota is covered with strippers all over his body.
“Yeah, boy, get ’em, girls!” He shouts, cupping his hands over his mouth.
They sit around for a few more hours. The fun carries through the night as Aiden gets to laugh at how stupid his friends become when they’re drunk.
“Yeah, buddy, you guys are fucked up,” Aiden says after last call is announced.
“Hey man, I ain’t drunk, I’m just extra tipsy with a touch of woo on the side,” Eddie admits stumbling out to the SUV.
“Sure, bub, whatever you say.”
Aiden helps them climb into the SUV and is about to head out when Ally approaches.
“Hey, wait up for me, please. I really need to talk to you.” She requests with her hand on his arm.
“Just to talk, that’s it.” He mentions looking into her eyes.
Aiden’s head fills with possibilities on the drive home, from talking points to urges his body demands that he takes and make Ally bend to his will once again.
“Uh, stay focused, c’mon, you can do this. You’re not falling back for Ally after you spent all this time getting over her.”
After they arrive home, Aiden and company make it to the living room, where they take a spot on the couch, and Eddie fumbles over his feet and drags himself the rest of the way.
“Good freaking night, ya drunks!” Eddie screams, kicking his door shut.
“Night ya old fuddy-duddy!” Dakota yells flopped down, and reclined back.
“Damn, I know I wasn’t this funny being drunk, but y’all are hilarious,” Aiden admits about to go out to sit on the porch.
“Night bitch.” Rey calls out as his head hits the pillow and passes out instantly.
Out on the porch, Aiden taps his fingers on the edge of the chair, feeling anxious to talk to Ally.
“Come on, Allyssa, I’m not going to wait forever on you.” He growls after an hour passes by, and she doesn’t show.
“Any damn day now.” He groans to keep from grinding his teeth.
The next glance at his watch, the time says it’s almost five o’clock, “Son of a bitch, she stood me up. I was dumb enough to fall for it. I guess things are still going to remain unfinished.”
On his feet, Aiden goes inside, locking the door, and heads off to bed. Before he undresses and climbs into bed, Aiden drops down, doing pushups until his anger subsides.
“That just added to your slew of unfinished debts, Allyssa. I love you, but I am done with this.”
Once Aiden’s settled in bed with only the sheet covering his body. He eventually passes out just as the sun is about to peek through the window for a couple of hours of rest before the longest day of the week begins.
