Chapter 2

I woke up to the familiar sound of eggs sizzling and pans clattering. Tanner must be up making breakfast as always. He’s always the morning person. Insisting on making me breakfast and taking care of me.

“Good morning,” I said while snaking my arms around his bare muscular body. Him shirtless is always a sight to see. I lose myself in his embrace.

“Morning babe. I’m almost done. Can you set the table?” He asked. Turning slowly, he paused. He ran his hand through my tangled hair. “You’re so beautiful.” He said looking at me so intensely that my knees started to buckle. He’s always showering me with compliments. Always.

Breathe.

"You’re so cheesy in the morning. You know that right?” I smiled at him.

“And you’re too grumpy.” He smirked. “But you don’t see my complaining. Do you?”

“I am not grumpy. You’re just always overjoyed” I defend.

“Overjoyed, Huh? Aren’t you supposed to be the cheery one? Joy?" He teased while chuckling.

I rolled my eyes while smiling. I untangled myself from him and started setting up the table.

He finished cooking and we started eating in comfortable silence. I looked down and stared at my plate. Half fried egg with so little seasoning. I eyed the toast on the counter. I mentally sighed and recalled our familiar conversation on how toast meant carbs and carbs is a huge no.

“Joy?” His voice interrupting my train of thoughts.

I hummed.

“I was thinking maybe we should start going to the gym. You know get healthy. You always say you want to work out but you never actually do it. Maybe if I was there, I can push you to actually go through it” He softly said.

Here we go again. This topic has to be dropped every once in a while. He just can’t let it go. He doesn’t understand how hard is it and how much I fucking hate the gym.

“And how are we supposed to do that when you’re almost never free and when you are, we try to spend every second together because we almost never see each other with our hectic schedules?” I asked him throwing daggers at him.

“I don’t know but we will figure it out. I really want you to do this for you. Not for me.” He said softly choosing his words carefully.

“I just want you to be happy and healthy.” He added.

“But I am happy!” I snapped.

“Are you?” He questioned.

“Yes, what makes you think otherwise?” Confusion lacing my tone.

“I just want the best for you. You mean the world to me, you know that right?”

“Fine. You want me to go the fucking gym, I’ll go. But you’re not coming with me. I don’t need you breathing on my neck and pushing me. If I’m really doing this, I am doing it for me. Alone.” I bit back harshly.

“Okay, okay.” He said raising his hands in surrender. “As you long you go through it.” He reminded me.

“Does it bother you that much? “I whispered in an almost inaudible voice looking down at my empty plate.

“What bothers me?” He asked perplexed.

“M-My weight.” I stuttered.

“No because I know it bothers you which means you will work on it and you won’t just ignore it” he replied. He grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles.

Breathe

“I guess you’re right” I mumbled unsure of what to say.
