Chapter 16. Don't Do This
The next morning I woke with a headache from hell. “Ouch,” I groaned and held my head. It felt like there was a knife in my stomach that somebody was twisting. I sat up, and the sheet I had been tangled up in fell to my waist. I looked down and gasped. Oh shit, why am I naked? In the same thought, I recalled last night. Avery... “Oh shit.” I pulled the sheet up over my chest and looked down. Avery was in the bed beside me.
Careful not to wake him, I climbed out of bed. When I turned back to see if he was still asleep, I saw blood on my sheets. I gasped in shock.
Avery groaned and looked up at me. His eyes widened, and his eyes swept across my naked body. “Damn, am I dreaming?” he asked. He bit down on his lip. “Nope.”
“You made me bleed,” I whispered and pointed at the blood in shock.
“Hmm, if that sex-ed teacher was right, that is normal, I think,” he murmured.
“You think?” I huffed.
“Well, fuck, I took that class like two years ago,” he said and shrugged.
I walked across my bedroom to my bathroom. I closed and locked the door. My back pressed against the door as I hyperventilated about last night’s events.
A light tapping on my door made me jump back and turn to stare at the door.
“Stormie, come out here,” Avery said softly.
“I need a minute,” I said, trying to sound normal.
“Babe, don’t do this,” he murmured.
“Do what?” I squeaked.
“Don’t freak out about it. Just come out here and talk to me about it. It’s early; maybe we can just go back to sleep for a little while,” he said softly.
“I’m not freaking out,” I said and shook my head. “I’ll be out in a second.”
Avery sighed. “Okay.” His footsteps retreated from the door.
After going to the bathroom, which stung a little, I stared at myself in the mirror. Physically, I felt hit by a train but also something else I couldn’t explain. My cheeks were flushed a light pink. There was a dull ache between my legs. My lips felt puffy, and my neck felt slightly sore. I moved my hair back and saw purple bruises, but I knew they weren’t. They were hickies from Avery. There were three of them on my neck and two on my chest. My legs felt like Jell-O.
Mentally apart of me was ecstatic, not because I wasn’t a virgin, but because I got past my trust issues and gave it to Avery. I was glad I gave it to Avery and not someone else. I was scared because that made things different between us. I grabbed the robe off a hanger that was on the door.
Avery was lying on my bed, looking like a goddess that didn’t belong there. He was staring up at the ceiling. His hair was disheveled. One of his arms rested on his ribs and the other arm near his head. He turned his head to look at me.
“Damn, what the hell did you cover up for?” he murmured.
I crawled onto the bed and straddled him.
“You okay?” he asked.
“I’m just trying to wrap my head around it, which is hard because of the hangover,” I told him.
“It’s more than that,” he insisted. He put both hands behind his head and stared up at me.
My fingers brushed lightly over his bare chest. “It’s just... is it supposed to feel so intense? Or is that like just the first time?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. It’s different for girls than it is guys,” he murmured.
Disappointment flooded through me. Does that mean it wasn’t that good? Did I do something wrong? My skin flushed. “I need to put the sheets in the washer and try to get that stain out...” I trailed off. I started to climb off him, but his hands caught me.
He sat up and forced me to look at him. “I assumed you were talking about you, but I’m guessing you meant me too,” he murmured. “You know from the look on your face. Maybe, if you didn’t sugar coat things...” he teased.
“I’m sorry,” I muttered. “It’s just you have done it before, and I haven’t. I’m not sure what it’s like for you and–”
Avery cut me off by smashing his lips to mine. He flipped us in such a swift movement that my stomach flip. He broke the kiss.
My eyes fluttered open. I pursed my lips. “Sorry for overreacting?”
“Wow, you suck at apologizing,” he said and smirked.
I shrugged. “Well, it’s the only one you’re getting.”
Avery chuckled. “It was way more intense than anything I’ve done before,” he said. He pressed his lips to mine.
“Better than weed?” I asked.
“Definitely,” he said.
“Better than music?” I asked.
“For sure,” he agreed.
“Better than football?” I challenged.
“Now, you’re pushing it!” His fingers moved impossibly fast against my waist.
“Oh, shit!” I screamed. “I was only kidding!” I arched my back and laughed hysterically. My robe came undone as I squirmed beneath him.
“So sexy,” he purred. His hands stopped moving as his eyes swept over me.
“How does your entire demeanor change that fast?” I asked breathlessly.
He answered me as he trailed kisses down my neck. “That is a ridiculous question,” he paused. “I’m hooked. Have you seen you naked?”
I started to giggle and cut off in a moan as he sucked one of my breasts into his mouth.
We both stopped when we heard a car door shut.
“Oh, god,” I whispered.
Avery kneeled up between my legs.
The fact that I could be distracted by his naked body at a time like this was crazy.
Avery looked down at me worriedly.
“What is it?” I whispered. “Is it Mason?”
The front door slammed shut.
“Worse,” Avery started.
“Stormie!” Dad yelled from downstairs.
“It’s your father,” he grimaced.
“Oh, shit!” I hissed. I jumped off the bed and checked to make sure the door was locked.
Avery ran into my bathroom and turned the shower on.
“How could you possibly take a shower right now?” I asked.
He came out of the bathroom, wearing a smirk.
“What?” I breathed.
The sound of my father’s heavy footsteps echoed through the hallway.
Avery slid his hand around my bare waist, and his lips pressed to the sensitive spot on my neck.
I bit back a moan. “Avery,” I whispered. “What the hell are you doing? Are you insane?”
“Maybe, but I’m also hard as fuck,” he whispered. He pulled me closer, and his cock pressed against my stomach. It was like he did it just to prove it to me.
There was a knock on my door.
“Oh my god! We don’t have time for this!” I whispered-shouted.
“Make time,” he whispered against my ear and kissed down my jaw.
My head tilted back, giving him better access.
“Stormie,” Dad called.
“I just got in the shower, Dad,” Avery whispered.
“I just got in the shower, Dad,” I repeated as normal as I could.
Avery chuckled. “Be down in twenty minutes or so,” Avery murmured.
“Be down in twenty minutes or so,” I managed.
“Alright, honey,” Dad said.
“Mm, good girl,” Avery whispered in my ear seductively. “Go to the bathroom.”
I huffed and walked around him. “You better make this really fast, Prince,” I said.
Avery stared at my ass as I walked away. “No problem,” he said, and his eyes flickered to mine. He disappeared.
I climbed into the shower and let the hot water run down my back. My eyes stayed closed. “What were you doing?”
“Well, we weren’t drunk enough to forget the condom last night, so I figured no reason to be dumb enough to forget it now,” he said.
My eyes fluttered open, and I smiled at him. “You have like ten minutes, Avery. It’s going to take me at least ten to wash up, get dressed, put makeup on, and brush my hair.”
“Makeup for what?” Avery asked.
“Gee, maybe, the hickies?” I rolled my eyes.
“I can get both of us in ten,” he said and smirked.
“Really? That is a bit cocky,” I told him.
“Want to bet on it?” he teased.
“Sure,” I said. “If I win, you have to take me to that trampoline place in Dallas.”
He tilted his head. “Okay, that is easy enough. If I win, you have to go skinny dipping with me.”
My lips parted in shock. I pursed my lips. “Deal,” I said.
“You’re confident,” he murmured.
“So are you,” I challenged.
He laughed. “Because you’re going to lose this bet, baby.”
“Nine minutes,” I said.
All the humor vanished from him. He gripped my thighs and lifted me easily.
A gasp escaped me as my back hit the wall, and his hard cock filled me. My back arched, and my eyes rolled back as a loud moan escaped me.
As I brushed quickly through my tangled hair, Avery wrapped his arms around my waist. He trailed his lips down my neck. “When are we going skinny dipping?” he asked.
I smiled and blushed. “At night, for sure. When nobody is around,” I said. “I can’t believe I lost. It was so close.”
“It wasn’t close at all,” he argued.
“You weren’t worried like a little?” I asked in disbelief.
He took a deep breath and thought about it for only a second. “No, not for a second. Did you miss how your eyes rolled back the second I–”
I slapped his chest and pushed him out of my way.
He threw his head back and laughed. “Don’t be a sore loser, babe,” he said.
“You’re kind of horrible,” I muttered.
He scoffed. “That’s not what you said ten minutes ago. You don’t need a reminder already, do you?”
I threw his shirt at him and giggled. “Get dressed. You need to get out of here before Mason finds you.”
“I texted him. He’s at Claire’s. He is wondering where the hell I went last night, though,” Avery said.
“What are you going to say?” I asked as I buttoned my jeans.
“What do you want me to say?” he asked.
I bit my lip. “Maybe, we should think about it,” I suggested.
“We can’t hide it forever,” he said. “Especially, not now.”
“Believe me, I get that,” I said. “I just think we should wait a little while longer. It couldn’t hurt, right?”
“I guess,” he said and shrugged.
“Sneak out when you can,” I said. “Be careful.”
“No worries. I can jump from the window,” he said.
“What? That’s crazy,” I said. “Use the back door or something. I’ll lure Dad to the kitchen.”
“It’s not that high up,” he said and rolled his eyes. He wound a hand around the back of my neck and pressed his lips to mine. “See you later.”
“Bye,” I murmured. I walked out of my bedroom and down the stairs.
Dad was in the living room. He looked up at me, and there wasn’t a hint of suspicion in his eyes. “Hey, honey,” Dad said and smiled.
“Hey, coffee?” I asked.
“Sure,” Dad said.
We were silent as I made a pot of coffee. I grabbed two cups from the cupboard, sat them both down, and poured coffee into them. I placed one in front of Dad and sat down across from him.
“So,” I took a deep breath. “What’s up?”
“I wanted to take you car shopping,” Dad said.
“I want a truck,” I clarified.
He chuckled. “Truck it is. You do know they are harder on gas?”
“It doesn’t bother me. I have a job,” I said.
“Okay,” Dad said and nodded. “Do you think Mason will be back later?”
“I’m not sure. Why?” I brushed my fingers through my hair, trying to keep my hair covering my neck without being too obvious. I had makeup on, but I didn’t want to tip anyone off in the slightest.
“Well, I’m making all three of you dinner tonight,” Dad said.
“Dad...” I trailed off. “This isn’t like to win Mom back, is it?”
“No,” he said and shook his head. “What I did to your mother–” Dad grimaced. There was deep regret and pain in his eyes. “That’s unforgivable. I don’t expect her to trust me like that again. This is about Mason and you. I never meant to hurt you guys. I should never have left...” he trailed off.
“It’s okay, Dad,” I said quickly and swallowed hard. “I’ll go get my boots.”
“Okay,” Dad murmured.
I squeezed his shoulder gently as I walked past him. I didn’t want to see my father in pain or cry. Avery was right; I shouldn’t stay angry with my dad. He is the only dad that I will have, and if I was being honest, I missed him. Unlike Avery, I was given a second chance with my parents, and there was no sense in wasting it.
