Chapter 34. They're Mine Too

Stormie’s POV

“So, what’s going on?” I asked as we walked to the parking lot.

“Well, I decided to move back,” he said.

“What?!” I shouted. I stopped dead in my tracks.

He turned back to look at me.

“You quit school?! How could you be so stupid!” I threw my arms in the air.

“Everyone is staring,” Avery said.

“I don’t fucking care! Let them stare!” I shouted. “You are so going back.”

He bent over laughing.

“I’m going to kick you in the balls if you don’t stop laughing! This is some serious shit,” I growled.

“Okay, wait,” he said between laughs. He held up one finger and laughed harder. He put his other hand over his balls.

I crossed my arms over my chest and shifted my weight to one leg. “I’m really about to take my babies and leave.”

“They’re mine too. I hate to break it to you, but you have to be nice and share,” he said and laughed. “Okay.” He took a deep breath. “I said that wrong. I should have known you would jump to conclusions because it’s your strongest personality trait.”

“But I–” I started to argue.

He put his finger to my lips to silence me. “I didn’t quit school,” he said. There was no trace of humor in his eyes. “I was busy making arrangements with the school about living off of campus and out of town. It was hard, but I convinced them. Also, I had to put in a two-week notice at my job. I’m going to work with grandpa when I can,” he said. “When you called me Saturday night, I was taking my flat screen off the wall. I wanted to be moved back by Saturday, but John asked me to work for a few hours Saturday morning, so I had no time to pack. I didn’t get completely moved in until this afternoon. I felt bad for leaving John short-handed, so that is why I wasn’t back by the weekend,” he explained.

“That is why you’ve been acting weird,” I murmured. “What made you decide to move back? I mean, that’s a long drive every day.”

“Isn’t it kind of obvious?” he asked. He glanced down at the twins then back to me. “Like I said, they’re everything to me. I’m sorry that I made you think differently,” he said. “So, can I keep them for a few days?”

“Be my guest. For once, I might get some homework done, and you’re going to find out how much they won’t let you sleep,” I said and patted his shoulder. “Good luck. You’re going to need it, daddy.”

He smirked at me. “Don’t call me that. It kind of turns me on.”

I pinched his nipple.

He swatted my hand away and laughed. “See you later,” he said.

“Bye,” I said. I bent down to the stroller. I kissed Chloe’s cheek. “I love you.” Then I kissed Corey’s cheek. “And I love you. Bye, babies.”

“That’s bullshit. I’m giving you a break from them. Where’s mine?” Avery teased.

I stood on my toes and pecked his cheek. “Thanks.”

“Anytime, mama,” he winked at me.

Sweat trickled from my hair to my forehead. I gasped in shock as I shook the nightmare off. I jumped out of bed and ran to the crib. I remembered the babies weren’t with me. They were with Avery. I ran from my bedroom and down the stairs. I didn’t bother putting on shoes or a coat.

It was raining heavily, but I didn’t care. I ran across the dark yard. I jumped over the fence that divided our yards.

The lights in the house were off. I wasn’t sure if Avery would hear me over the pounding rain. I pounded my fists against the door. When he didn’t answer, I ran to the front door and rang the doorbell three times. I pounded on the door but stopped when I heard his heavy footfalls. By the time he opened the door, I was soaked head to toe.

He threw the door open and rubbed his eyes tiredly. “Stormie, what’s wrong?” he asked. He was in nothing but shorts. He had clearly been asleep.

I put my hands on his chest and shoved him out of my way. “Where are my babies?” I demanded.

“What? What do you mean? They’re sleeping. It’s three in the morning,” he said.

“Where are they?!” I screamed. Tears rolled down my face.

“They’re upstairs in Ava’s old bedroom,” he said and put his hands in the air.

I turned and dashed up the stairs. I threw the bedroom door open, and lightning flashed. I look into the single crib that was set up in the bedroom. The twins were side by side. Both of them were breathing slowly, deep in sleep. I covered my hand with my mouth as the tears fell faster. Relief washed over me.

“Stormie?” Avery murmured. “What’s the matter?”

“They’re okay,” I choked.

“Yeah, of course. What–” he stopped when I turned and buried my face in his chest. He sighed and wrapped his arms around me. He pulled me from their room and closed the door. He grabbed my face between his hands. He moved my hair from my eyes so he could see me better. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry. I just had a nightmare, but I had to make sure they were okay. It was horrible, Avery. I’m just not used to being away from them. You’ve had them for three days. I want them back tomorrow, please,” I murmured.

“Shh, okay. Yeah, you can take them back. You could have come and seen them,” he said.

I shook my head. “It’s fine,” I choked. I wiped the tears away. “You can go back to sleep. I’m sorry,” I apologized again.

“Do you want to stay?” he asked.

“No, that would be too weird,” I said and shook my head. “You moved on and–”

My gaze met his. “You’re seeing somebody,” I stated confidently. “I’m tired of being around you. It hurts.”

He raised his eyebrows. He snorted. “I’m not seeing anybody but my twins.”

“Oh,” I breathed.

“I wasn’t that type of busy. Besides, I’m too stuck on you to even look at anyone else.”

“But you said–”

He pushed me against the twins’ bedroom door and smashed his lips to mine. He kept my face between his hands as his lips moved against mine. His body molded to mine.

A moan built up in the back of my throat. My fingers tangled into his hair.

His tongue slipped into my mouth, and my legs started to shake. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me tighter to him. I couldn’t have gotten out of his grasp even if I wanted to, and I definitely didn’t want to.

He broke the kiss. His chest rose and fell heavily against mine. His bottom lip brushed against my upper. He stopped for a moment but didn’t move his lips too far from mine.

“Don’t you fucking know better than to listen to me by now?” he asked.

My eye fluttered open, and I looked up at him from beneath my lashes. “I guess I should,” I whispered.

“I came back because of you too. I just didn’t know how to tell you that. I was stupid for not begging you to take me back when I found out the truth,” he said.

I shook my head. “It was my fault,” I argued.

“It was our fault,” he corrected. “I was so pissed off at Mason that I was afraid to be with you, and I was afraid you would hurt me again. My heart can’t take much more of that.”

Tears fell from my eyes. “Mine can’t either,” I whispered. I stood on my toes and smashed my lips to his. I shoved him back toward his bedroom.

He groaned and tangled one hand into my hair. He wrapped one arm around my waist and picked me up. He carried me to his bedroom and closed the door behind us. He sat me on my feet and broke the kiss. He pulled my tank top off. His eyes swept over me.

“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured.

I pressed my lips to his and pulled him back toward the bed with me. I turned him around and pushed him down onto the bed. He sat on the edge of the bed. After my bra was unclasped, I let it slip off me.

“Damn,” he grunted and licked his lips. He watched me as I pushed my shorts and underwear down and shook them the rest of the way off. He pulled me closer but stopped.

“What?” I murmured.

“I don’t have a condom,” he said.

“I have the Mirena,” I told him and giggled.

“Good,” he chuckled. He grabbed me around the waist and spun me around. He threw down onto the bed and wrapped his arms around my thighs. He kept his feet planted on the floor and pulled me to the edge of the bed. “You thought the twins kept you up all night?” he teased. “At least you got a few hours of sleep with them. You won’t get any with me.”

My eyes widened, but before I could respond, he slammed his hard cock into me. My head and back arched. A loud moan escaped me.

“Fuck,” he hissed. “You feel so amazing.”

His thrusts were so hard and fast that my breasts bounced, which held most of his attention. His face filled with pleasure, and he licked his lips. His eyes flickered to mine.

Lightning flashed through the windows, and I could see him better in the dark. There was a possessive look in his eyes that I hadn’t seen in a long time. “Baby girl,” he groaned. “You belong to me.”

“Kiss me,” I pleaded.

He bent over, but his thrusts didn’t slow. He smashed his lips to mine and groaned. His tongue slipped into my mouth. Our tongues battled for dominance. I let him win well because I liked how controlling he was in bed.

“You taste like heaven,” he murmured. He stood upright again. “Touch yourself,” he demanded.

I bit my lip and didn’t do as he told me to.

He pulled out of me.

The empty feeling made me gasp. “Avery,” I whined.

“Do it,” he demanded.

I hmphed but did as he told me to. I started rubbing my clit with one finger.

He watched as I did.

“Avery,” I pouted.

“You’re sexy as fuck,” he murmured.

“Fuck me, damn it!”

He smirked and slammed back into me. His thrusts were merciless, and it sent me over the edge.

“Oh, daddy!” I screamed.

He clenched his jaw, and his thrusts became sloppy as he released too. He collapsed on top of me. “Damn, keep screaming like that, and the babies won’t be sleeping either,” he said and chuckled.

I chuckled too.

His face hovered over mine. “I love you,” he murmured.

“I love you,” I told him.

As soon as the words left my mouth, his lips were back on mine.
