It's been 6 days since we've been in Italy. I take Sky out to visit places that I love but now that they know, I need to be extra-careful so that she's safe.
But now... Now it's a bit too far.
As soon as I saw the picture of the two of us from the beach, I knew we had to leave.
Luca already warned me on day one that I need to be careful with her and it's my fault that they found out.
Sky can't get in the middle of this. She needs to be safe and protected. And right now... I don't think being here with me and Luca in THIS house is not good for her.
Only problem is, I can't get us to leave without upsetting her. But I don't have a choice. Upsetting her is not worse that getting her hurt. It's either getting her as far away from this place as possible or getting her killed... or getting them involved.
"That's the thing, blending colours is hard," Sky exclaimed.
Currently, Sky and I were talking about random thing and this conversation ended up to be about art.
"How is blending hard?" I scoffed. It really isn't.
"How is it not?" she rolled her eyes. "You have to pick the perfect colours and the amount and just one wrong move could ruin the whole-"
She was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing.
"See? Even your phone knows that you're wrong," I smirked and she stuck her tongue out at me before turning her gaze towards her phone.
As soon as she saw that caller ID, her eyes widened and she quickly got up.
"I need to take this," she said and walked away. Who's on the other line?
I'm freaking out, man!
Nona is calling. I wonder if she knows that I went back to America and didn't visit her?
I guess I'll just have to find out, don't I?
Nona is mine and Lacey's grandma. She's a bit um... scary.
I answered the called slowly to hear, "Skylar Hope Johnson!" from the other line.
Yup, consider me dead.
"Nona?" I asked sheepishly.
"You are in big trouble young lady!" her voice boomed from the other side.
"I swear, I am coming there today," I lied.
"What in the world are you doing in Italy in the first place?" she exclaimed.
"Nona, I'm touring with my friend," I explained.
"Oh," she said with no emotion whatsoever. "What's her name?"
"His name is Hudson, Nona," I said and shut my eyes tight, praying inside that she won't get even more mad at me.
From the other side, I suddenly heard a gasp.
"Everything alright?" I asked, worried.
"Your Grana is just having a moment," Nona replied in her same nonchalant voice. God, did she really think that there's something between Hudson and me? I wish. Wait what?
"Is he your boyfriend or something?" Nona asked as she got straight into the subject. She was never the shy type or the kind of woman who beats around the bush.
"NO," I replied immediately and I could hear Grana grumbling from the other side. Sorry, Grana, I haven't found the one yet. "No, no, he's just a friend."
"Hmm... When is your flight?" Grana asked.
"Um, Hudson arranged all that so, he knows," I replied, praying that she won't see through my lie.
"He's coming with you?" Nona asked.
"Uh... yeah," I quickly said but ended up in a confused tone.
"Is he coming with you or not?" she asked very slowly and very intimidatingly. Gulp.
"Yes," I answered in defeat. Great, now I need to convince Hudson to go with me too and ruin his holiday. Nice move, Sky.
"Good. Be safe, Hope," Nona said before ending the call.
"Fuck!" I cursed out loud.
"Hudson, I need to leave in the earliest flight that I can get to Florida and... I need you to come with me!"
"Why?" I raised a brow.
"Because my two sometimes-lovely-grandmothers somehow found out that I went back to America and didn't visit them so I need to go to Florida."
Now I don't need to upset her. She'll be safe.
"Can I ask you a favour? Actually two," Sky said sheepishly.
"Sure," I replied.
"Um, I need to get the quickest flight possible and, um, can you maybe, um, come with me?" she smiled.
"No problem," I chuckled.
Good. Now I can personally make sure that she's safe.
We said bye to Luca and left in a cab. Hudson is honestly so sweet for doing this.
"Thank you again for this whole touring," I said as I looked up at him.
"No need to thank me, it's my pleasure," he winked causing my cheeks to heat up.
I need a drink.
"Yes!" I exclaimed as I beat him in chess for the hundredth time. Ok, maybe not the hundredth time, more like the tenth time.
"You just got lucky," Hudson scoffed.
"Yeah," I replied with a smirk. "Ten times in a row."
"Shut up," he growled playfully.
"Is Mr Broody a little upset that Sky beat him in chess?" I asked in most babyish voice possible.
"Like I said, shut up," he rolled his eyes.
"As you wish, Mr Broody," I replied with a small smiled.
Currently, we're in front of my Nona's house in Florida and I'm basically worrying my ass off.
I went to knock on the door but chickened out in the last minute.
"What if they yell at me?" I asked Hudson for the millionth time. I told him about the whole "situation" and he listened very very carefully.
"No they won't," he said as he put his hands on my shoulders and turned my around to face the door. "They'll just kill you."
"Hudson!" I whined. I turned around and crossed my arms over my chest. "You're not helping!"
"I think I am," he smirked.
"No you're really not-"
I got cut off Hudson pressing the doorbell.
"Whoops," Hudson gave me an innocent look.
"I swear, Walker, if I get into trouble, I will kill-"
I got cut off (again) by the door opening to reveal Hunter Johnson.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Oh, unlike some people, I do visit my family during my holidays," he replied coldly. Nona adopted Hunter, Xavier and Abigail (around the time I was 8) as her grandchildren because of some drug issues with their parents, which I still, to this day, cannot know about. So, growing up, they were always family to me and Lacey.
Hunter and Xavier are twins. They're 19 and are working on their degree in Iowa.
"That bad?" I asked.
"No. It's worse," he replied in the same nonchalant tone.
Now I remember why Hudson's demeanour seemed a little too familiar. Between the three of them, Abigail was the only one who displayed all of her emotions. Hunter and Xavier seemed to only display anger and annoyance. No sadness. No happiness. No guilt. I think they learned it from Nona.
But Abigail... she was a whole other story. She's 12 and is the sweetest thing that you could find. Just her face makes people smile. No, she doesn't look like a clown and it doesn't work on the three musketeers. The Three Musketeers? Actually, it's a pretty good name for the trio. Hudson, Xavier, and Hunter. Perfect.
"Who're you?" Hunter asked Hudson coldly, causing me to give him a look.
"Hudson Walker. Her friend," he replied nonchalantly. "You?"
"Hunter Johnson. Her cousin," he said in the same tone. I looked between the two as they shared a nod. It was as if they were communicating telepathically.
"ANYWAYS," I started because it was a little too awkward for me. "Where are the rest of them?"
"Inside. Obviously," Hunter rolled his eyes. "Come in."
We walked in and I immediately spotted Xavier, he was walking downstairs and froze on his spot when he saw me.
A mischievous smile spread across my face as I ran up to him with wide arms and engulfed him in a hug. He was about 2 feet taller than me (the Three Musketeers are about the same height) but Xavier was nice enough to not push me off. He was tense though. To put it simply, he was not a hugger.
"5," Xavier started in his deep voice. "4. 3.... 2.... 1!"
I immediately let go because I really didn't wanna get in trouble. Isn't family just so.... fun?
