Chapter 25

Sky’s P.O.V

“Where’s Nona and Grana?” I asked Xavier as I pulled away.

“They went out to buy some stuff,” he shrugged.

“Why can’t the two of you lazy snails go and buy the stuff? They’re like 60. Let them relax,” I scolded.

“One, we offered to help but they refused and said that we’re ‘too young’ to know the difference between coriander and parsley. Two, they took a cab, they’re perfectly fine. Three, if they hear you saying that ‘They’re like 60’ or whatever, you’ll be in even more trouble. And four, you’re one to talk since you didn’t even bother to visit.”

“Are you done ranting?” I asked in a bored tone.

“No. Who’s the guy? What was his name again? Hank?” Xavier raised a brow.

“That’s our dead dog from 2 years ago,” I scoffed.

“Hunter?”

“That’s your twin,” I said through gritted teeth, causing him to smirk. Those two loved to mess with me.

“Something beginning with a ‘H’. Harley?”

“That’s our second cousin and she’s a girl,” I giggled.

“Heinz?”

“That’s a fucking food processing company!” I exclaimed and before he could come up with any other ridiculous names, I said, “It’s Hudson. Be civil.”

“I guess,” Xavier huffed.

I looked around to see that Hudson and Hunter were in the living room, chatting about something with straight faces. Well, they seemed to be getting on well... for emotionless people.

“Where’s Abi?” I asked.

“Upstairs,” he replied and I ran up the stairs.

I walked into her room to see her listening to some music on her headphones while painting... something.

I walked up to her and yanked the headphones off.

“Hey!” she exclaimed in annoyance and when she turned around, her eyes widened. “Hope! Give me my headphones back!”

“Make me,” I said before running downstairs. Of course, she followed me.

“Give it back!” she whined.

“No way,” I said and continued to run.

Hudson’s P.O.V

Xavier and Hunter are tolerable... unlike most people. Except Sky.

Those two doesn’t speak that much. Only about things that matter and value. They’re not the kind to talk so much that the other person get bored. They’re the kind that talks enough so that the other person would hang onto every word that they say. No, I invented that shit so I don’t fall for it.

“Come and get it,” Sky taunted as she ran around in the living room with a short girl with black hair, tan skin and emerald green eyes (like the twins) chasing after her. I noticed that Sky had a pair of pink headphones in her hand and realised that she was teasing the poor girl.

That sneaky little thing!

“Give it back, Hope!” the girl whined. Urgh, I hate it when girls do that. So annoying. By the way, ‘Hope’? I know it’s her middle name and they call her that here and all but her real name is even more beautiful. Her real name suits her very well. Her bright blue eyes are just like the sky. Except for when it’s raining and has a bad weather. Her parents sure were clever when they named her.

“She looks so much better now,” Xavier muttered so quietly that I barely managed to catch it.

My head snapped in his direction as I asked, “What do you mean?”

They looked at each other for a second before Xavier looked at me.

“Um, after her parents died, she’s been in a really dark place. Won’t talk to anyone, won’t laugh, won’t smile. She’ll just continue her life without any emotions,” he said.

“Hmm,” I nodded because I had absolutely no idea how to respond to that.

There’s no way that girl can be emotionless. She’s like a damn beacon of happiness.

Her smile lights up the world. Her bright blue eyes shines brighter than the fucking sun (metaphorically speaking).

Wait, where did all that shit come from? It sounded like I’m from a fucking romance novel!

“So,” Hunter started. “What’s going on between you and Hope?”

Why is everyone asking us that? Sky only see me as a friend. Nothing more, nothing less. Even if I did like her (like, like like her, which I’m really not sure of at the moment) I’m pretty sure that she wouldn’t want to be with someone like me.

“Sky and I, we’re just friends,” I stated, as a matter of fact.

“Hmm,” he replied.

“I heard my name,” Sky said as she popped out of nowhere with the little girl beside her. “Are you three talking about me behind my back like girls?”

“You wish,” Hunter rolled his eyes. Sky turned to the little girl beside her.

“Why don’t we go up to your room and talk about these three behind their backs?” she smirked.

“Sure,” the little girl chirped and off they went upstairs.

Sky’s P.O.V

I walked downstairs to see the front door open and my two beloved grandmothers walking in.

Grana had a bright smile plastered on her face and as for Nona, she looked like someone stole her kidney.

“Hi,” I said.

“Welcome back home, Hope,” Grana smiled while Nona just grumbled.

“I am so sorry that I didn’t say to you guys that it was my holidays or that I was going on tour to Italy or that I came back to America or that I was going to come here and visit you guys or that I was bringing Hudson with me,” I ranted.

“Sweetie, it’s OK-”

“Don’t ever do that again,” Nona interrupted my other grandmother.

“Never,” I said.

“Do you understand? Don’t ever do that again,” Nona scolded.

“I understand. I’ll never do that again,” I said.

“You had us so worried and you almost gave me a heart attack. I thought you got kidnapped or something," she said.

"Don't worry, Nona, I'll just punch and kick the people and then run away," I replied proudly.

She walked up to me, picked up my arm, inspected it a bit and then turned to me.

"Honey, you'll die trying," she patted my shoulder and walked away from me who's jaw was saying 'Hello!' to the floor.

Did she just call me weak? Wow, now I know where I got all the sass from.

She's really winning grandmother of the year here...
