Chapter 3

I stood in the lobby wearing my black coat, clutching my bag. When I noticed him walking towards the lobby, I pressed the elevator button. The door opened and I gestured him to enter first, and.. he did. The whole elevator ride was silent. Not a single word spoken.

When we got to the ground floor, he had received a text and was responding to it. As the elevator door opened, I was supposed to exit. I’m not sure what happened, but the stump of my pencil heels broke, and I lost control as my ankle twisted. I was about to fall, but I felt an arm around my waist, pulling me back on my feet.

“Are you okay?” he inquired, his voice concerned and caring.

" Uhh... I’m good. Thank-” I was about to thank him when he began laughing. “What are you laughing about?”

" You are so clumsy, that’s it.. I found out what you’re not good at.” and he laughed.

“Now that my official working hours are over, I can say-” I was about to rant about the mess he’d made of his schedules when he cut me off.

"Choose your words wisely, Ms. Wright.” and his hold around my waist tightened.

"Let me go.” I told him sternly, and he did. Only for me to lose my balance again, and this time he drew me closer to him by pulling me by my hand. Phew! I took off my heels and held it in my hand. Oh, this day was a complete disaster.

“My driver is waiting for you in front; he’ll take you home.” As he began to walk away he informed me.

"What about you?”

"Are you worried about me?”

"What!? NO. Goodnight, Mr. Langston.” I was flustered when he said that. And I was concerned not worried. Aghhh. I tiptoed to the front and got into the car.

I reached home at midnight. I took a warm shower, changed into my comfy clothes and crashed on the bed. I was going through my phone texting in the group chat, that I was home, and I got a call. From an unknown number, so I didn't take the call. But the same number called again, so I picked it up,

"Hello?"

“Did you make it home?”

“Who is this?”

“Oh, it’s me Eugene!!”

"What the fuck? how did you-”

"Glad to hear you made it home. You can start at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow because you were in the office until 11 p.m. today. Not the standard 9. All right?”

“Isn’t it usually 8 a.m. for you, Mr. Langston?”

“Yeah, but I can deal with 1.5 hours of peace in the morning.”

and he laughed. So obnoxious...

"Okay, even I might get some peace too from the your cocky attitude.”

“Ahh.. finally, someone who can keep up. Good night Ms. Wright.”

I couldn’t think of anything else to say because he was so smooth and charismatic, but then he cut the call. He didn’t even give me a chance to respond. Why is he so difficult to deal with?

~~~~~~
Three weeks down! And Today is Friday. I will get some rest for the weekends!! And peace. This entire fucking three weeks was spent arguing with him, and he seemed to enjoy it. As the day progressed, he started showing more of his playful and charming charisma, which convinced everyone. He kept bugging and mocking me, and I had to play it professionally. But, at the same time, he was considerate and concerned about me, and, as much as I hate to admit it, he's a good guy. I’m curious how he got to the top and why no one dares to challenge him.
“Do you have anything else before I call it a day, Mr. Langston?”
Before I leave, I ask him one last question. It was only 7p.m., so I could go out with Lana and Nat or by myself.
As he stood up and poured a glass for him, he asked, “Whiskey?”
“No, thank you. I need to get home now.” I looked at my watch and gathered my belongings. “I’ll send you an email about today’s meetings.”
“Its Friday night, Ms. Wright, one drink to get to know me better, since you forgot who I was.” AHhh he’s being sarcastic.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Langston, but I need to board a train to get home.”
“I’ll drive you home.”
"It’s a one-hour drive..." -no its a 45 min drive, I was exaggerating- "and that might be a waste of time for you. But, thank you for your offer, Sir."
"Don’t call Sir, at least when there’s no one around.”
"Okay, Mr. Langston, I have a question for you: Am I done for the day?”
"No, the drinks come under the assistant work.” He was lighthearted and upbeat.
"I’m sorry-”
"I'll drive you home-" he was still convincing me to stay, and I noticed his aura changed. He had this fairy vibes but was pure...? It is so fucking mysterious, and I cant even pinpoint it out!
"I must decline the offer, Sir.”
“I’ll drive you home; now sit down. You aren’t leaving this office until I say so.” He was not forcing me to stay, but he would go to any length to keep me there. As I sat down for a drink, I could feel his wings spread out.
"I really must decline." I stated firmly.
"Why? Do you have plans with your boyfriend?" he asked
"No, I don't have a boyfriend. But I'm planning to meet my friends."
"Planning? So, you didn't really make any confirmations, right?"
"Yes."
"Great. Coz, now we're going to have some drinks."
So, now I'm here at a high end club drinking with my boss, in his private room. Not alone, its packed with people. His friends. Even Axel is here. I was with Axel for most of the time because Eugene was busy with other women, sexy women, flirting with him. I took couple more shots.
Strange, it’s as if I'm jealous? Why? Do I like him? No.. No.. Hes.. as far as I know him, he's modest and respectful at first, but then he becomes so playful that has have this fucking angelic aura that melts.. everyone melts. But I'm not gonna come under that charisma. It’s going to be difficult for me to get along with you, Mr. Langston.
