Adam seemed satisfied about my words because he kissed my head lovingly. His mother still looked unconvinced but I knew already what I wanted to do. Consequences be damned.

"All right." She finally said. "I should leave you two to sort out your things but Adam, you should bring her to see the streak if she wants to learn about us."

"I know but... You're hurt and I don't want to put you through some stress." He said tightening his arms around me.

"I'll be fine." I said to soothe him. "Maybe not today but I do want to see them soon."

"I promise that I will take you to see them." Adam added. "But not today."

"Then I have nothing more to do here." Adam's mom said. "Mia, it was a pleasure."

"Same for me madam." I nodded.

She smiled before she shifted and left the house as if nothing happened. I would need to get used to that I suppose. Big tigers leaving the house as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Life could take an exciting turn when you shared it with a weretiger.

"Are you all right?" Adam asked.

"Yes. I'm surprised to see that you're still here." I told him lifting my gaze to meet his.

"No I couldn't go to work today." He said. "I wanted to stay with you and make sure that you were all right."

"Chaton..." I said torn between "aww" and "I'm not a baby". "It's just a broken arm."

"It's not just that Mia." He said his green eyes serious as they watched me like a hawk. "I know that you had a nightmare too last night."

I widened my eyes in shock. How did he know? I thought that he was asleep.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"I should be the one asking that." He said. "I don't expect you to be fine right away. You can tell me when you're not."

"I just don't want to make you feel bad..." I said avoiding his gaze.

I could not bear to look at the seriousness in his eyes any longer. I just wanted to put that incident behind us. I did not want to think about it anymore.

Who was I kidding though? Leroy was always on my mind everytime I closed my eyes. I also hated to admit that I felt relieved when I heard the sound in the kitchen as I woke up this morning knowing that it meant Adam was here. That I would be safe.

Adam took me in his arms and carried me bridal to the couch. He laid me down on the couch gently and put my head on his lap. He stroked my hair to soothe me and maybe himself as well before he started speaking.

"It's not about me here Mia." He said. "I do feel bad that I was not here to protect you but more than that, I feel upset about not killing the leopard myself. Anyway, your feelings on this matter more than mine. Please don't push me away. I need to know when you're not ok."

"I just... I just don't want to think about it." I said closing my eyes. "I want things to be normal again..."

"They will be but... It takes time and I want you to take all you need."

"I will but I'm not broken. Only my arm is all right?" I said locking my gaze on his.

"All right." He said smiling softly. "I made breakfast if you want some?"

"I'd love that with a painkiller because my arm is starting to bug me again."

"Sure." He chuckled.

He put a pillow under my head before he moved to the kitchen. I wondered what he made for breakfast and contemplated that I would not be able to cook for some time. Damn. Wearing a cast was a lot more troublesome than I thought and I did not even take a shower yet...

"What's with that face?" Adam asked as he laid breakfast on the table behind the couch.

"I was thinking about a shower..." I said frowning.

"I like what you're thinking." He chuckled.

I sat up to look at him puzzled and then I caught up on the meaning. I could not hep a laugh.

"You still find me sexy with a cast huh?" I asked amused.

"No matter what, you will always be sexy to me." He beamed at me.

"Flattery will get you nowhere." I teased as I stood up to join him at the table.

He pulled me on his lap and wrapped an arm securely around my waist. I could see happiness sparkle in his green eyes and I smiled at that sight. I knew that he was telling the truth. No matter what he would love me and I knew that no matter what, I would also love him.

"Good that it's not flattery then." He said while he handed me my cup of latte.

"I love you." I said looking into his eyes.

His green eyes widened and his lips parted in utter shock. I guess it did come out of nowhere. I chuckled and leaned into his chest to hide my face in the crook of his neck. His gaze was so intense that I was blushing like a 15 year old with a crush. Geez.

He took my chin in his fingers to lift my face so he could meet my gaze. His green eyes were full of love and it made me blush some more. I could feel the heat on my cheeks. Damn.

"I love you." He said easily and my heart was beating so fast that I feared it would fly out of my chest. "I'm so happy Mia, you have no idea."

"I think that I do because you make me feel happy." I said with a smile. "I never felt so... In the right place before. You know what I mean?"

"I do. We fit. It's simple as that." He said before kissing my forehead then my nose and finally my lips.

I returned the kiss and deepened it. I chased his tongue inside his mouth and I felt a low rumble form in his chest under my fingertips. The feeling made me shiver as my body started to heat up. I felt him respond as he pulled me closer to his chest and I felt him poke at me through his clothes. I moaned in his mouth at the feeling but then my arm reminded me that I needed to take my pills.

I froze and broke our kiss to take my pill. Adam looked concerned for a second.

"I'm sorry, honey. I got carried away."

"It's ok." I said with a smile. "So did I. I'd rather have you than the pills but it looks like I still need them."

"I'm not going anywhere." He smiled back. "I'll take you to the streak this week-end so you can make your decision."

"Thank you." I said. "I know that it'll be fine. I've survived your mother so I'm sure the rest will be a piece of cake."

"I suppose." He said amused. "My mother was already convinced though. I've been talking about you a lot since you arrived here five years ago. She was waiting for me to introduce you to her."

"I see. I suppose we both did talk about each other a lot." I chuckled. "Why did it take us so long to take that step?"

"You were with Jackson and I could see that you loved him." He said with a strained smile. "I didn't want to be the one to break you two up so I waited."

"I wish you wouldn't have. You should have told me right after the first time we broke up. That would have spared me a lot of trouble." I said.

"I wanted to but I knew that Jackson would not let it go so easily. I needed you to be done as well and you weren't ready to let him go at the time." He explained.

"I would have for you." I said looking into his beautiful green eyes. "You were the first I had a crush on. I knew that it was bad to have a crush on my boss but I couldn't help it. I did love Jackson but I know now that I love you more."

"You don't know how happy that makes me." He said with a smile full of love.

I kissed him softly and he returned my kiss. I had a pretty good idea how happy that made him because I could feel it as he touched me.
