announced yesterday that he is stepping down from his drive-time slot on Siren Radio after less than two years. He made the shock announcement on air yesterday, just a day after picking up a coveted National Broadcasting Award.
The loud-mouth DJ, who spent much of his career entertaining rumours of non-stop partying and womanising, is rumoured to want the quieter life. Unofficial sources claim he is in the running for the role of station controller, but a spokesman for Siren Radio was unable to comment.
Dan, 29, from Bournemouth, famous for having a string of glamorous beauties on his arm, turned up at the National Broadcasting Awards looking far more introvert than usual. He was accompanied by long-time producer friend Emma Jackson, fuelling speculation of a new romance.
The multi-award winning star, who regularly draws more than seven million listeners to his afternoon show, has often hit trouble with ill-judged comments and jokes, and is probably best known for his short romance with former Page 3 stunner turned modelling guru Suzy Ryder, 25, from Norwich.
A press release from Siren Media HQ in Central London heaps praise on Dan for his dedication and hard work, and wishes him all the luck for the future.
Dan Shears’ last live show will be broadcast at the end of next week. While no announcements have been made about any replacements, rumours are flying that listener favourite Mikey Beihr is on the short-list.
Hey Big Boss Man!
Did you see that so called news item about you giving up drive? All fine, but the least they could do is get my name right, right? Clearly I’m not “glamorous” enough to warrant my age being in print either. Oh yeah, and all this “new romance” shit? You wish!!
Just to let you know Vantage want to set up a meeting. They have some promotional stuff and want us involved. Pencilled in meeting for next Tuesday morning. Let me know if any probs.
Hope Isle of Man is fun. Catch ya next week!
Ems, no worries with meeting. Back tomorrow so may fly in, literally!
