“Mom, do we have to move? I know Daddy’s job is important but I don’t want to leave my friends.” I said. “Oh, sweetie, it’s going to be great! I just know it! And you seriously need to think about your future. Daddy is doing this to pay for you to go to dance school. We love you want want you to be happy.” She said as she smoothed my hair. Mom and Dad have been so helpful. Ever since I was 5, all I wanted to do was dance. Now that I’m 15, and starting High School, they’ve been nothing but supportive.
Uh, I really wish we can go back home. This sucks. Maybe I’ll go outside and dance. That always cheers me up! And so that’s what I did. And I’m happy I did because the sun was hot and it was only 11AM. So after an hour of dancing and yoga, I hear a man’s deep voice yelling.
“That’s not what I said, Carley! Stop calling me!” The obviously angry man said. God, he sounds hot! Is now a bad time to introduce myself? I consider if I should go over, but I hear a knock at the door. “I’ll get it.” I hear my mom say. I walk into the kitchen and get myself a bottle of water out of the fridge. Than I her Daddy call my name. I walk into the living room and there are 4 people at the front door. I walk close and Mom puts an arm around me and says, “and this is our Brittney.” I hold out my hand and each of them shake it. “This is Mr. and Mrs. Tex and their kids, Ash and Nick.” I just nodded and Mrs. Tex said something to the older boy and then she, Mr. Tex and Nick left. Ash was still at the door. “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name.” “Oh, right it’s Brittney.” I felt nervous. Why do I feel butterflies? He is the man I heard on the phone in the back yard. God, he looks hotter than he sounds!
I step outside and sink into a chair on the porch. He takes a seat next to me. “So, High School. Are you excited? Only 4 more years of school. I can’t wait! Got any plans?”
“Yeah, I’m going to dance school. My dad signed me up for the best one.” I said, feeling a smile play at my lips. Daddy wants what’s best for me. “I bet you miss your friends back home.” He says. Honestly, I only had two. Beth and Sami. But I didn’t want to sound like a loner so I said, “yeah, I guess. Nothing I can do about it.” He than looked at me and back at his hands. He obviously wants to say something. Than all at once, he looked at me and said, “I’ll be your friend if you want.” Than he put an arm around my shoulders and squeezed. All I feel is butterflies and I love it. He got up and left but not before giving me his cell number and telling me that we will always be right next door. I smiled as I went inside to watch T.V. with my parents.
