Lila’s POV

“Baby, we’re here.” Alarix gently shook me.

I blinked a few times before opening my eyes fully. “Have we landed already?” I asked.

I sat up slowly and glanced at Alarix. He looked like he hadn’t slept; he looked drained. His hair was all dishevelled, like he’d ran his fingers through his hair continuously.

He nodded and smiled at me. “We have the car journey now, but we should be there soon.” He replied, standing up.

I climbed off the bed and stretched. “Did you sleep at all?” I questioned.

“No, but I’m ok.” He smiled. I raised my brow at him before smiling and nodding.

“That was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in.” I chuckled, pulling on my shoes.

“I could tell... You were snoring.” He smirked.

I turned around and gasped. “I do not!” I groused. He winked, then chuckled, shaking his head.

“No, you don’t.” He joshed, amusement twinkling in his eyes.

I went towards the door with Alarix close behind me. I opened the door and walked back to our seats. Elias and Levi were seated in their seats. They looked really well rested... Levi didn’t look traumatised anymore. Hearing the prophecy really took it out of him, and I know Elias nearly lost control. I can see it in his eyes; he’s scared.

“There is a limousine outside, ready to take you to your destination.” King Darius announced as he saw us. “If you need to let your wolf out, we can stop off at the pack.” He continued.

“I could do with letting Leo out,” Levi answered.

I’ll be ok until we arrive at the king’s castle.′ Lola remarked.

I nodded in agreement. Even though Lola doesn’t need it, Levi is going to shift. I don’t want him to be alone, surrounded by loads of unknown wolves.

“Perfect. The limousine is waiting.” King Darius smiled.

I glanced at Alarix excitedly. I’ve never been in a limo before. I’ve never been to Paris, the city of love. If we can, I want to see the Eiffel Tower at some point. I want to visit the famous love lock bridge... I want to place a padlock on it with Alarix.

Alarix joined our hands and squeezed. I glanced up at him, smiling. He led me out of the jet and stepped aside for me to go first. I stopped, gazing at the black sleek limo in front of me.

“That’s a limo.” I squealed.

Alarix chuckled. “Yes, it is,” he burst.

I moved down the stairs slowly, glancing around at all the people standing around. By their scents and their uniforms, I knew they were vampires. Probably the king’s soldiers. I cringed, staggering down the stairs.

“What’s wrong?” Alarix asked, hooking his arm around my waist.

“There are so many vampires,” I whispered.

“I’m here. I’ve got you, don’t worry.” He declared.

I took a deep breath, relaxing against him. I nodded as he moved beside me and possessively circled his arm around my back, holding me against his side. We walked towards the limo with Levi and Elias beside us.

I glanced at them. They had their arms around each other, protecting each other. I giggled. They were both trying to be the alpha male. I knew who the alpha male was, but I’d never tell them that. I’ll let them keep trying to prove something to each other.

"What’s so funny?” Alarix asked through our link.

"Levi and Elias. They don’t know which one is of them is the alpha male of the relationship." I explained.

"Which one is it?" He asked, glancing at them.

"It’s obvious... Take a guess." I giggled.

Realization lit his face as he watched Elias remove Levi’s hand and entwined their fingers together. Elias has always been the domineering one in their relationship. You could see it when they were younger... Elias said jump; Levi, said how high?

"You’re my alpha," I purred through the link.

"Glad to know you know I’m the alpha," Alarix growled through the link.

I glanced up at him and winked. We stopped in front of our ride as the two vampires bowed their heads to us.

“Bonjour. Welcome to France.” One of them tipped their hat as the other pulled open the door.

One of the guys opened the door for us with a bow. “Thank you,” I smiled before climbing in.

My eyes went wide as I gazed around. It was huge and definitely screamed royalty. The window screen separating us and the driver had a royal crest on it. It looked very similar to my mark. I need to try and remember to ask King Darius about it.

The screen came down and the driver turned to us. “Premier arrêt, la meute de loups. Nous passerons par Paris. N’hésitez pas à ouvrir votre fenêtre et à observer votre environnement.” He tipped his head before looking back at the road.

We all glanced at each other and chuckled. I have absolutely no idea what he just said. One of the first things I’m going to do is learn French. I don’t like not being able to communicate with others. If I’m to be their queen, I need to speak their language and not rely on a translator.

“First stop, the wolf pack. We’ll be going through Paris. Feel free to open your window and observe your surroundings.” The other vampire translated for us.

The window screen closed. Levi opened his window as we pulled out of the airport. “Dad has made contact with the alpha of Shadow Pack,” Levi mentioned. “He said they can be trusted, but to be cautious.”

I nodded before pressing the button to open my window. I leaned on the open window and watched as we passed through the countryside, heading for the streets of Paris.

I’m sure the driver took the scenic route around Paris. We saw pretty much everything Paris had to offer. I wish I could have gotten out and walked along the streets. Seeing the Eiffel Tower as we drove by has only made me more determined to actually visit it in person... at night when it’s all lit up.

We eventually left Paris and was driving through the countryside again. I could hear and smell the other wolves. It was making me antsy and on edge.

“Are you ok?” Alarix asked, laying his hand on my thigh.

“I can sense the other wolves... Lola is on edge.” I replied.

“I can, too,” Levi muttered.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I don’t feel threatened as such, just cautious. I don’t know these wolves and with what’s happening... We can’t be too careful.

We pulled up outside of some huge golden gates. I peered my head further out of the window and saw three wolves stalk towards the limo, joined by a guy in human form.

“Sont-ce les loups que nous attendons?” The guy spoke. (Are these the wolves we are expecting?)

“Oui.” The vampire in the passenger seat answered. (Yes.)

“Vous pouvez entrer.” The guy bowed. (You may enter.)

The gates creaked open, and we slowly drove through them. I sat back against the seat and closed the window. My senses were going crazy. Lola was forward, itching to let her presence be known.

“Everything’s going to be ok,” Alarix reassured, grabbing my hand.

I glanced at Levi; his eyes were flickering between brown and black. His wolf was acting the same as Lola. I couldn’t work out whether we felt threatened or not.

The limo stopped. The screen came down, and both vampires turned to us.

“We have arrived. King Darius is here.” The vampire announced.

The limo door opened. I sucked in a breath before exhaling slowly. I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous around wolves before. This isn’t how a queen should act. A queen should be confident and brave. I chuckled to myself as I chastised myself for feeling weak.

“We’ll go first,” Elias commented, pointing between him and Alarix.

“Ok.” I nodded.

Elias and Alarix climbed out of the car, with Levi and me following behind. My breath caught in my throat as I scanned my eyes around the crowd that had surrounded us.

“Dark Wolf Pack, welcome to Shadow Pack.” He was the alpha. I could sense his alpha aura.

I stepped forward, much to Alarix’s dismay. I smiled reassuringly at him before stopping in front of the alpha.

“Thank you for allowing us to be here.” I smiled. “I’m Lila.” I greeted, holding my hand out.

He placed his hand in mine and shook firmly. “Ah, a firm handshake.” He chuckled. “You are most welcome. We have been looking forward to meeting you.” He added.

“This is my mate, Alarix.” I introduced, pointing to Alarix. “This is my brother, Levi and his mate, Elias.” I continued with the introductions.

“This is my Luna, Claudette and my sons, Albert and Arthur.” He mentioned. “Could we meet your wolves? Our trackers will need your scent. We don’t want any unfortunate accidents, especially because we don’t know what your wolves look like.” He asked.

One of his sons were looking at me strangely. His eyes were flitting between Alarix and me. He was making me feel uncomfortable.
