|believe the feeling of having me near|
I’ve only been standing at the altar for a few minutes, and I’m already a nervous wreck. My palms are sweating, and I can’t stop my whole body from shaking. I know she’s going to be here... I know she wants to marry me, but it doesn’t stop the niggling feeling that she’s going to realise she’s far better than me and run.
"I can feel your anxiety and worry through our bond. What’s wrong? Do you not want this anymore?" Lila’s sweet voice appeared in my mind, and the tension I was feeling slowly evaporated.
"I’m just anxious for you to be here," I answered.
"I’ll be there soon, handsome." She replied. I could hear a tint of amusement in her tone.
I grinned and glanced at my three best men. After Athan showed up, I couldn’t decide between them all, so I told them they were all standing with me.
When I answered the door to Athan, I didn’t know whether to hug him or wipe the stupid smirk he had on his face. He and Levi had planned this behind my back... Levi called him after I had told Leon what I wanted to do. It was Athan’s idea for it to be a surprise.
“She’ll be here,” Levi whispered, leaning forward and as if on cue, the song I chose… How Long Will I Love You, by Ellie Goulding, began playing.
Everyone rose from their seats, turning around to watch Amari, Celeste and Cayla sauntering down the aisle in bridesmaid dresses. I grinned, staring at Celeste... I was relieved they were here. I loved Lila all the more, knowing she asked Celeste to be her bridesmaid.
My breathing was becoming erratic as my eyes fixed on the doorway, waiting and watching for Lila. My breath hitched in my throat as she rounded the corner with her dad.
Our eyes met, and the look she gave me nearly floored me as my knees buckled. Athan gripped my arm to stop my falling, which would have been incredibly embarrassing as Lila’s face dropped as she watched me.
“Easy, bro, she’s nearly here,” Athan whispered, squeezing my arm.
She looked like an angel in a lace white floor-length ball gown. Her hair was over her shoulder, twisted into a plait, exactly how it was when I first laid eyes on her. She had white flowers scattered through her hair with a diamond tiara fastened neatly into her hair.
She nodded without breaking our eye contact as Leon whispered something to her. The song continued playing as they started walking down the aisle.
I couldn’t stop the giddy feeling of her being so close, but not close enough for me to touch her. I know at weddings you’re supposed to walk slowly down the aisle, but I needed her to run... I needed her in front of me, like now.
As they reached the altar, I had to clench my hands into fists to stop me from reaching out for her. Leon gave her a swift kiss on her cheek before going over to Ayla.
“Hi.” She whispered, peering up at me.
“You look breathtaking.” I breathed.
She blushed as her eyes roamed over me. “As do you.” She drawled, sounding breathless. “Is that an official royal suit?” She questioned, looking back at my suit.
I nodded and glanced down. Alaric asked if I would wear the ceremony suit he wore when he became king. I was honoured and a little speechless, but I’m glad I accepted… The smile on his face was worth it.
“Are you both ready?” King Darius asked.
“Sorry, yes.” I chuckled, apologising.
“We’re here today to witness the bond exchange between Prince Alarix King and Lila Morris.” The officiant started.
He looked behind us, searching the crowd for someone. His face lit up in a heartwarming smile as he nodded. I followed his line of vision, stopping on Alaric when he smiled brightly at me.
“I had the pleasure of marrying King Alaric, all those years ago, and crowning him king. Now I get to continue the legacy and marry his son and crown him king.” He smiled.
I gave him a little nod before gazing back at Lila. She looked absolutely stunning; I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I’m going to have fun later peeling that dress from her. It’s clinging to her, showing off every asset she has... I don’t know if I’m going to get through this ceremony.
“Are you ok? Your eyes are red...” Lila whispered, tugging on my hand.
I shook my head, breaking me out of my trance. “Yeah, I’m ok.” I smiled.
Her eyes danced with mischief as she worked out what I was staring at and thinking about.
"Later," she purred through the link.
I gritted my teeth together as the officiant cleared his throat. We really need to stop getting distracted; otherwise, this ceremony is going to take a while.
“I understand you have written your own vows?” He stated.
Lila gawked at me, shaking her head. “What? Vows?? I haven’t planned anything.” She yelled in a whisper.
I placed my hand over her heart and smiled at her. “What you feel inside of here… that’s all that matters to me,” I smirked, hoping she would remember.
Her eyes lit up in recognition, and she took a deep breath before nodding. She mouthed, “Believe the feeling of having me near.”
I smiled, nodding at her before we both turned back to the officiant. “Who wants to go first?” He questioned, glancing between us both.
“I’ll go first.” She blurted.
I took a few deep, calming breaths. The way I’m feeling right now, I’m probably going to sob like a baby when she says her vows. I’m on an emotional rollercoaster right now.
“I want to start by telling you how much I love you. Yes, I love how handsome you are and how you’re cut like a Greek god, but that’s just the icing on the cake.” Lila smirked.
“The absolute best part about you is your kind heart. You are the most giving, selfless person I know, and I thank the Goddess every day for giving me you, and for you allowing yourself to give me all of your love, without much hesitation.” She smiled.
“I can’t promise I will always be the perfect wife, but I promise to love you through the good times and bad. To stand by you at your side. To choose our love every single day. I promise to always fight with you and for you, never against you. I will always be your biggest fan, confidant and best friend.” She professed.
“I choose you knowing there are still trials we must travel; knowing there are mountains we still need to climb. I’ll always choose you.” She expressed.
I couldn’t see properly with the tears blurring my vision. I quickly wiped my eyes as Lila squeezed my hand. I leaned forward and planted my lips against hers firmly.
Everyone chuckled and made ′aw′ sounds. I was too overcome with emotions and my love for her that I couldn’t help myself. I pulled back, smiling at her before taking a deep breath.
“You have made me the happiest man in the world today by agreeing to be my wife. I see these vows not as promises but as privileges. I get to laugh with you and cry with you, care for you and love you. I get to have you as the person I spend the rest of my life with. I get to be there for you and support you through anything. I don’t have to honour and cherish you - I get to.” I breathed.
“I will dream with you, celebrate with you, and walk beside you through whatever our lives may bring. Because of you, I laugh, I smile, and I dare to dream more than I ever have. Thank you for being you. You are and always will be the love of my life, my soulmate, my person.” I exclaimed.
I held my hand against her face and smiled brightly at her. “You are my first, my last, my everything. You are mine until the end of time, and I am yours for as long as you’ll have me.”
She choked back a sob and threw her arms around me. "Damn all these people here right now." She growled through the link.
I chuckled and wrapped my arms around her. We stayed in the embrace for a few seconds before she pulled away, wiping her eyes. We both turned to the officiant and nodded once we had gotten ourselves together.
"Do you, Alarix, take Lila to be your lawfully wedded wife?" He asked.
"I do." I grinned, looking back at Lila.
"Do you, Lila, take Alarix to be your lawfully wedded husband?" He asked.
"Yes, thousand times yes." She exclaimed.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride." He beamed.
I gently curled my hand around her neck and pulled her into me. I brushed my lips against hers before connecting our lips in a sweet and passionate kiss.
I kept out the ring exchange in the ceremony because Lila won't be able to wear a ring all the time in case she needs to shift unexpectedly. She has the ring I gave her, but we don't need matching rings... I know I'm her's, and she's mine.
"Can I have your attention?" King Darius addressed.
It's going to be hard not calling him king when I take over. To me, he'll always be King Darius.
"If you both could kneel, please." He instructed.
"Levi, fuck, what's wrong?" Elias blurted. "He can't breath." He shouted.
We all whipped our heads around. Levi was keeled over, clutching his chest as... something foamy was coming out of his mouth. We all rushed over to him; none of us knew what was happening.
Lila gripped hold of me as she stumbled forward. I glanced at her and paled. She was clutching her chest, struggling to breathe as the foamy thing was coming out of her mouth too.
"What the fuck is going on?" I yelled.
"Elias, you have a choice... Who do you save, your pet wolf or his sister?" Lilith giggled menacingly.
