Chapter 11

Three hours later, Ethan and Eric arrived back at the house and found it quiet. They searched the house and didn’t find their wives there. They didn’t find a note. Eric sent a text to Becca. His phone beeped.

“Where are they?” Ethan asked.

“Your in-laws,” Eric said.

“I thought we would talk to them together,” Ethan said.

“Jennifer thought it would be better if she did it alone, I mean, Becca is there for support but she thought it would be better if her father didn’t see you when he heard the news,” Eric said.

“I can’t believe this,” Ethan said.

“Bro, don’t get upset with her,” Eric said.

“I’m not going to, I just wish she did it with me by her side,” Ethan said. They heard the front door open and close.

“ERIC ROSS!” Becca yelled.

“Babe?” Eric asked. Becca came over and slapped him across the face. Jennifer came in and gasped when she saw the slap.

“What the hell?” Ethan asked.

“You jackass!” Becca said.

“What did I do?!” Eric said.

“Fucking mafia?!” Becca said.

“Bec,” Eric said.

“You fucking lied to me since I’ve met you, you never bothered to tell me that you are in the mafia!” Becca said.

“Bec,” Eric said.

“I had to find out from her father?!” Becca said.

“My dad told her that Eric worked for a mafia family, he didn’t say who, he said it wasn’t your family,” Jennifer said.

“Becca, please I couldn’t because I wanted to keep you safe, I thought if you didn’t know that you could have deniability if something bad happens,” Eric said.

“You should have told me!” Becca said.

“Didn’t you hear what I said!” Eric said.

“I heard you but I thought we wouldn’t keep secrets from each other,” Becca said.

“Wait, so your dad told you that he worked for a mafia family?” Ethan asked.

“Yes, you knew didn’t you,” Jennifer said.

“I was sworn to secrecy,” Ethan said.

“Ethan, we started our marriage with a lie,” Jennifer said.

“Jen, I made him promise not to say anything,” Eric said. Jennifer and Becca looked at each other and at their husbands.

“Okay boys, sit down now,” Jennifer said.

“Baby,” Ethan said.

“SIT YOUR ASS DOWN!” Jennifer yelled. Ethan and Eric sat on the couch as Becca and Jennifer stood in front of them.

“We just gave you both the opportunity to tell us the truth,” Jennifer said.

“You see we tried to trick you into telling us the truth,” Becca said.

“What,” Ethan said.

“What,” Eric said.

“Quiet!” Jennifer said.

“David told us everything, that you guys were mafia,” Becca said.

“Something you didn’t tell us in the beginning,” Jennifer said.

“Don’t you think we should have known about that when we married you guys,” Becca said.

“I know you guys think that not telling us is a way of keeping us safe, it’s the complete opposite,” Jennifer said.

“It’s more like you both can’t trust us completely, that you have to keep something this big from us,” Jennifer said.

“That I had to be told by my father,” Jennifer said.

“He wants her to divorce you by the way,” Becca said.

“I don’t know what I will do, but I can’t stay here,” Jennifer said.

“Jennifer,” Ethan said.

“Becca,” Eric said.

“No, we are done, don’t even bother coming after us or looking for us,” Becca said. Jennifer and Becca looked at them and walked out the door.

“What just happened?” Ethan asked.

“We just destroyed our marriages,” Eric said.

“Shit!” Ethan said. He sat there staring at the ceiling.
