Chapter 58

Three weeks later, things were still the same. Jennifer had the all clear to go back to work. There was no change in her memory. Ethan was enjoying being a father. He was glad to have help in Matthew and Callie.

“Thanks guys for helping me with the babies,” Ethan said.

“I’m their godfather, they are precious,” Matthew said.

“They are little angels, I’m glad to be their godmother, it gives us practice for when our time comes,” Callie said.

“Baby?” Matthew asked.

“Three weeks along, babe,” Callie said.

“I’m going to be a father!” Matthew said. He hugged her close and kissed her softly.

“I love you,” Callie said.

“I love you so much,” Matthew said.

“Congratulations you two,” Ethan said.

“Thank you, godfather,” Matthew said.

“I’m honored,” Ethan said. They heard the front door open and close. James and Ashley came in.

“There’s my nephew and nieces,” James said.

“Hi cuties,” Ashley said.

“Hey guys, Callie and Matthew have some news,” Ethan said.

“We’re expecting!” Callie said.

“Congratulations you two!” James said.

“That’s amazing news!” Ashley said. James and Ashley hugged them and sat down and played with the babies.

“So what’s going on, guys?” Ethan asked.

“Ethan, Jen came back to work and her first account back was a former boyfriend of hers, he was before Nathan, they broke up when he moved away, they didn’t want to do long distance so they parted as friends, he recently moved back and they reconnected,” James said.

“Oh I see, so they are getting back together,” Ethan said.

“It seemed that way,” James said.

“I’m sorry Ethan,” Ashley said.

“I understand, I had a feeling that something would happen,” Ethan said.

“Ethan,” James said.

“I guess I should see about a divorce then,” Ethan said.

“Ethan,” Ashley said.

“What,” Ethan said.

“I know this is hurting you,” James said.

“More like my heart is breaking all over again,” Ethan said.

“I asked him to come over here to meet you, I quietly told him everything, he understands the situation and wants to meet you and the babies,” James said.

“Oh great,” Ethan said.

“He is a decent guy, Ethan, he cares about her a lot, they loved each other,” James said.

“James,” Ashley said.

“I’m just saying he is a good guy and he did say that if she got her memory back, he would step aside,” James said. The doorbell rang. Ethan wiped his face and went to the door and opened it and saw a guy standing there.

“Ethan?” he asked.

“Yes,” Ethan said.

“I’m Brad Garrett, I’m Jennifer’s ex,” Brad said.

“Ex or current boyfriend,” Ethan said.

“Nothing is official right now, we do have a date tonight though to talk things out, I wanted to meet you and the babies before anything happened,” Brad said.

“Okay well come on in,” Ethan said. He came in and greeted James and Ashley and was introduced to Matthew and Callie. He saw the babies and sat down.

“Jackson David Ross, Samantha Michelle Ross, and Hayley Ann Ross,” Ethan said.

“He’s a handsome little guy and two beautiful girls,” Brad said.

“Yes they are,” Ethan said.

“I need to know if there is any way you all can just tell her what she’s missing, I know she should be here for the babies,” Brad said.

“We want to so badly but her doctor said that she should remember things on her own regardless of how long it takes,” James said.

“But does the doctor know that there are babies involved,” Brad said.

“They thought it would cause a set back in her recovery,” James said.

“No one wants her memory back more than me, every day I want to go to her and take her in my arms but I don’t want to upset her or confuse her, I want her to remember on her own, I don’t want to force her to remember,” Ethan said.

“What if she doesn’t remember?” Brad asked.

“I’m never giving up hope,” Ethan said. James heard his phone beep. He looked at it and looked at them.

“Babe?” Ashley asked.

“It’s from my dad, it’s about Jen,” James said.
