๊งByeol POV๊ง‚

I sat in my room quietly my eyes flickering from photographs to photographs that hung neatly on my purple pastel walls, but one stood out the most. My momma was cradling me whilst my papa's arms were wrapped tightly around her waist pressing his cheek to hers as they both looked down at me lovingly.

They were so happy.

I smiled at the thought. but all good things must come to an end much to my disappointment.

My childhood wasn't the best per say. I was very shy and liked to keep to my self making sure I was untouchable but that wasn't a problem because people barely noticed me and as a result, I never had a friend or friends but I was okay with being lonely as sad as it sounds.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, I jumped frightened, I quickly turned around.

"Good morning flower", my mom signed grinning.

Yes. I was deaf for as long I could remember. I got bullied for it a lot growing up but it got worse now in high school. Even though I couldn't hear them, I could read their lips but not well. they loved saying bad things about me but I ignored them or tried to.

"Good morning momma", I signed back with a small smile.

"You ready?", she asks moving her fingers.

I nodded after she drops her hands, I got up grabbing my panda themed backpack, and exited my room.

"Did papa call?", I inquired sitting on a stool swinging my legs.

She shook her head no, I pouted both my parents were Koreans they moved to the United States when I was 8 and got divorced when I was 13.

It took a toll on my mom but I helped her to get through it day by day, dad even came to visit sometimes but recently he stopped.

"Aww honey it's okay I'm sure he'll visit soon maybe he's just busy", she responds before turning around to crack some eggs.

I played with my fingers not convinced but let it go for now.

After mom was finished she plated my breakfast which consisted of waffles scrambled eggs and bacon she slid the plate before me along with a cup of OJ.

Yummy.

I quickly ate my breakfast when I was finished I washed my dishes and we both exited the house and went to my mom's car. After buckling in she started the car and drive out of our driveway.

Resting my head against my arm I looked at the blurry trees, and a few birds which flew by, before I knew it we were at the entrance of my school, Brookside Academy.

I frowned as my mom drove inside the parking lot, parking at an available spot.

I fiddled with my uniform skirt, I happen to like my uniform it consisted of a grey pleated skirt; which was too short in my opinion, a blue under blouse along with a grey tie with grey stripes, a grey blazer with more grey stripes and to top the look, white knee-high socks were worn along with any shoe preference I, of course, choose cute white sneakers.

"kkul?", (honey), she signed.

"Yeah", I respond.

She cups my face gently rubbing her thumb over my chubby cheeks.

She draws back looking at me seriously.

"If anyone, troubles you I mean anyone don't be afraid to call me", she demands.

"Okay", I signed back.

"Now go enjoy your day honey. oh and don't forget to text me after school is finished", she reminds me.

I nodded and kissed her cheek before getting out. she waves at me through the windshield and I waved back until her car left the school.

I gripped my bag strap tightly turning to face the brick school, I closed my eyes momentarily breathing in sharply.

This is the last year. just try to ignore them and everything will be okay.

I exhale before walking towards my school's entrance. As soon as I made it inside I was tackled by one of my best friends Mia in a bone-crushing hug.

I grinned hugging her tightly, I missed her even though I saw her yesterday.

She releases me smiling showing her pearly white teeth, "I missed you butterfly", she signed.

I had this weird obsession with butterflies hence the name.

"Me too", I made known my grin still etched.

"So where's Tia?", she asks looking around.

Tia was my step sister, my papa got remarried two years later after divorcing my mom. Lila was a lovely lady I didn't hate her or had any reason to but Tia her daughter hated me from the moment papa introduced me to her.

I shrugged, "papa was supposed to pick me up today with Tia but he didn't come so I rode with mama", I tell her.

She nods, "where's-", "sup bitches", Rosie says cutting off Mia, while I read her lips.

Mia rolls her eyes, "sup hoe", she retorts grinning.

And these ladies and gentlemen are my two beautiful besties, Mia had shoulder length blonde hair with the prettiest emerald green eyes, with a slim figure and flawless skin, she models on the side and isn't afraid to tell you off. Then there is Rosie she hates her name saying her parents should have named her something badass, she also had blonde hair the same length as Mia's, with baby's blue eyes, she too had a slim figure her bust slightly larger than Mia's and she loved fighting.

People often considered them twins.

"So where's miss prim and perfect?", Rosie inquired scowling.

Both Mia and I shrugged, " I asked the same question but who cares anyways the further she stays away from us the better", Mia states.

"I didn't get that", I signed lost after she said further.

Mia took out her phone and typed something then my phone pinged. I opened the message from her and read what it said,

"the further she stays away from us the better"~ Mia

My mouth formed an 'O' shape, Mia and Rosie couldn't stand her and they made sure she knew they hater her but Tia ignored them.

"Well let's get to class before we're late", Rosie signs.

I nodded and we went to our classes.

I was eating quietly and observing the cafeteria my gaze landing on each table watching as each member chatted with their friends occasionally stopping to eat their lunches.

"Hey guys", Tia greets, but I didn't hear her aside from being deaf I was too busy looking around to see that She was at our table. Rosie taps my arm I turned to face her and she points at Tia.

I waved greeting her, she gave me tight-lipped smile, "how are you?", she asks almost forcefully, fun fact about Tia she knows I'm a bit slow at reading lips so she talks extra fast so I can't read what she's saying and she doesn't use ASL saying it was dumb.

"I'm good", I signed with a small smile.

Tia went quiet for a moment just glaring at me for what? I wish I knew.

"Listen you fake bitch if you don't got anything to say your free to leave we all know its because Mr.Amun told you to speak to her you're here", Rosie fumes, I only caught bits and pieces of what she said and I could tell by her body language she was angry.

"Thank you for pointing out the obvious Riley, so let's make this quick for both of us. Listen carefully you retard if dad asks if I spent the whole day with you bonding tell him, yes so he can stop pestering me ", she spat.

My eyes widen in surprise not because this was the first she actually spoke slowly so I could read every word but because she called me a retard, I bit my lip and nodded looking at my fingers.

I didn't ask to be deaf.

"Oh fuck no. you listen bitch, you will not talk to my bestie like that. first of all, she's no retard she's far smarter than you. Secondly, She didn't ask to be deaf now fucking move or I'll make you", Mia states icily.

"And Tia. my name is not Riley it's fucking Rosie you idiot, can't even remember someone's name yet you calling Byeol a retard.", Rosie gritted out.

Tia glared at me it sent unpleasant chills down my spine.

why was she glaring at me?

She walks off clearly pissed off.

one's things for sure she was going to make my last year a living nightmare.
