Chapter Twenty One

After talking a nice long bath, I came outside the bathroom, wearing just my bathrobe and slowly tiptoed towards the bed. He was still sound asleep but I placed the duvet above his face so that he wouldn't be able to see me changing, just in case he wakes up in the middle or something.

I headed over to my wardrobe and grabbed a pink lehanga that resembled the closest to a saree and started to wear it. The blouse had a sweetheart neckline with silver embroidery designs and it was completed netted. The skirt was a beautiful shade of pink that flowed down my waist and it almost felt like I was wearing a ball gown or something.

God, this was the most Indian I've felt since I came here.

Finally, I grabbed my netted dupatta and wrapped it across my chest, making tiny folds to the cloth and secured it with a pin to make sure it stays in place over my shoulders and took the other free end of the cloth and tucked it inside the waistline of my skirt. I tried my best to hide my waist and stomach but it was still visible.

Damn, Indian attires are so uncomfortable and revealing sometimes.

Fuck it.

Thankfully, Ray was still asleep and I wanted to get out of the house before he could see me in this clown attire and make fun of me.

I quickly blow dried my hair and combed it throughly to get rid of all the knots. I collected all of my hair and twisted it into a lose ponytail and pulled out few tendrils of it to frame my face. I looked at myself in the mirror and the Indian girl with olive skin tone and deep brown eyes stared right back at me. I had huge bags under my eyes, mostly because of all the crying from last night.

So, I started to work on my makeup, hiding all my bags with a concealer and kept it subtle but made my eyes pop with some eyeliner and jet black kohl. After wearing my lipstick and some heavy earrings that matched my outfit, I smiled at my own reflection in the mirror, feeling satisfied. Suddenly I heard some rustling from behind me.

Crap!

"Ridhi?" he moaned, making me turn around and I found him trying to reach out for me next to his side. I couldn't help but smile at how cute he looked with that small worried look on his face but I had to get out of here before he wakes up fully. I turned around to have one last look at myself in the mirror.

"Woah! What in the--"

And there goes my plan in vain.

Here we go!

I turned around slowly to find him looking at me and his eyes went wide in shock.

"Wh--how--Where are yo-? Wow! Fucking hell!" He blinked so fast and started to rub his eyes while I tried so hard to hold back my laughter.

"I know. I look funny. Get it all out," I rolled my eyes and walked towards my bedside table to grab my wallet and keys. When I turned around, I found him standing so close that I almost stumbled but he held me steady by waist and I let out a small whimper as his fingers slightly grazed against my bare waist.

"You look breathtakingly gorgeous." He breathed out, running his eyes all over my face and I blushed a deep shade of red.

Totally not what I had expected.

"Shut up. I know you are kidding. I look like a stupid clown." I mumbled, tucking a piece of hair behind my ears but he lifted my chin so that I was looking straight into his eyes and I forgot how to breathe for a second.

"Trust me, if I had an option to throw you on his bed and take you right now." He breathed out, licking his lips and came near my ears to whisper, "I wouldn't hesitate even for a second." He finished, his lips teasing my ear lobes and I felt a shudder of pleasure pass through my body right to my core.

But before I could say anything, he let go of me with a small frown on his face like he had come back to his senses and took a step back, running his fingers through his luscious locks of hair.

I felt like someone had spilled a bucket of ice water all over my body.

Asshole.

"Ummm..Are you going somewhere? You are dressed so fancy."

"It's diwali." I muttered in annoyance, not meeting his gaze and he let out a small chuckle.

"English please," he said, sitting on the bed, balancing his weight on his elbows and kept watching my every movement like a hawk.

"It's an Indian festival. The festival of lights." I replied, leaning against my wardrobe and let out a soft sigh. I tried not to stare at his naked torso but it was so damn hard. I mean, how does someone wake up looking like that. Like, they jumped straight out of a playboy magazine.

It's a sin to look that hot.

It peeled my gaze away from his delicious body and looked outside the window before talking.

"Every year, me and my grandma used to celebrate it together by cooking sweets and going to the temple. We light up the entire house with earthen lamps and it used to be so much fun. Eshika used to join us in the evening and we would light up some fireworks from the terrace of our house. The whole city would be so bright and lively that day and it is the only festival I look forward to celebrate." I explained, a small smile playing at the corner of my lips.

"Sounds beautiful." He whispered, making me flick my gaze towards him.

Just like you. I wanted to say.

"Yeah and I'm heading to the temple now and also to Trina's to give her some sweets." I added, looking at the clock. It was around 9 am. He nodded in understanding and continued to stare at me like it was the most normal thing for him to do.

"Stop looking at me like that." I blurted out, feeling shy and insecure under his gaze.

"I can't help it if you look so fucking beautiful. Why don't you wear clothes like these more often?" he asked, still not taking his eyes off me and continued to shameless check me out.

"Because it's uncomfortable and not very appropriate." I shrugged, trying to hide my waist.

"I love it." He said with a goofy smile on his face, making my heart melt into a puddle. I walked towards him and he sat up straight, swallowing hard.

"About last night.." I started, placing my things on the bed and ran my fingers all over his naked broad shoulders. I licked my lips, trying to find the right words.

"I didn't mean to make you cry. I just wanted you to know that I'm not the asshole you think I am and I do care about you." He whispered, taking my hand between his and continued, "A lot more than you can imagine."

"I know and we can talk about it once I'm back but I'm not going to let you push me away anymore."

"Ridhi--" he started but I placed my finger on his lips, stopping him from saying anything.

"You have no idea how stubborn I can be, Mr.Anderson. We can make this work." I nodded my head, feeling confident and swallowed hard before continuing, "I can't lose you too, Ray." I whispered, choking on my words and he looked confused and worried, "Not when I just got you."

He shook his head, knowing that I can't be convinced and let out a soft sigh.

"I wish I could drop you but I know it would be hard to get on my bike with this dress." He spoke, looking down at my skirt and I let out a small chuckle.

"As much as I miss your death ride, I'm sure I can find a cab."

"Death ride?" he asked, raising a brow and I just shrugged in response with a small smirk.

"I almost died the first time I got on it."

"Come on, that was the slowest I've ever gone." He snorted, earning a glare from me. I could sense that he was trying so hard to keep him hands off my body which was actually cute and funny and I tried to tease him further.

"Aren't you a fan of cars?" I asked, wrapping my arms around his neck and I felt him go stiff.

"Huh?"

"I mean, the cost of your bike must be obviously way more than a car. So why go for a bike and not a car?" I asked, noticing his face go pale and the playful expression in his eyes disappeared in an instant.

Not the reaction that I was expecting.

"I--I just..." He started to breathe heavily and was struggling to get out the words. I realised that it was something difficult for him to talk about.

Maybe this was a part of his issues he had mentioned last night.

I placed my finger on his lips again and he flicked his gaze to meet mine.

"It's okay. I love bikes more than cars anyway." I winked, caressing his face and noticed his eyes soften a bit. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips and he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as if he was trying to control himself.

"Damn, Ridhi. Go before I do something that I might regret later." He groaned, removing my palm from his face and I rolled my eyes, stepping away from him.

"See you later." I pouted, grabbing my things and walked towards the door.

"Also, I have kept some sweets for you on the kitchen counter. Don't forget to eat them." I yelled as I walked outside the room, feeling determined to work this out between us.

No matter what he was dealing with, I already knew in my heart that I was going to be there for him.

I mean, he can't possibly be an axe murderer, right?

By the time I reached my apartment, it was almost 6 pm. Trina had made me spend the whole afternoon with her and thankfully, Simon was not home. She was totally shocked when I told her all about the drama that happened last night. She felt pretty bad for Simon but she was totally crushing over Ray, almost forgetting that she was a lesbian. Ray texted me in the afternoon saying that he was heading out for some business and would be back soon.

As I walked towards the apartment, I was nervous and excited to finally see him and talk to him. The whole day I had been wanting to go home and this was it. I opened the door, holding my breath and complete silence welcomed me.

Great!

He wasn't home yet. I was pretty bummed but I could wait. He would be back soon. I walked towards the kitchen to find some empty plates in the sink which had the some remains of my sweets on them. I smiled and opened the refridgerator to get some water to drink. Just as I was about to close the door, I noticed a small note stuck on it with a help of a dolphin shaped magnet.

'Will be back around 7 ish. Loved the sweets BTW! I would love to have some butter chicken for dinner.

P.S: Hope to see you in the same dress when I get home.' - Ray

A huge smile appeared on my face and I think I must read that note more than ten times especially the last word whilst smiling like a fool.

Home.

This was indeed our home.

I wanted to get out of this dress as soon as I got back but for some weird reason he seems to be obsessed with it so I decided to wear it until he gets home. I let out a soft sigh and shook my head before starting to cook us some butter chicken.

Halfway through chopping the onions, I heard a loud knock on the front door. It wasn't 7 yet. Maybe he was early but why was he knocking?

It could be someone else.

I quickly wiped my hands on my apron and lifted my huge skirt as I made my way to get the door. As I flung the door open, I came face to face with a sophisticated looking man who must be in his mid forties. He was wearing a three piece suit, his brown hair neatly combed and he was average built but there was something familiar about his face, especially his eyes.

Crystal blue orbs!

Similar jawline.

I had a hunch but I could be wrong because he looked filthy rich and it obviously looked like he had gotten the wrong apartment.

"Hello, how may I help you?" I asked politely with a small smile.

"This is apartment No:107 right?" he asked with a confused look on his face and I nodded, biting my lips. It could be one of Ray's business associates or it could be....

"I'm looking for Ray Anderson. I'm his father, Richard Anderson." He stated, confirming my thoughts and I just stared at him with a blank expression on my face. I wasn't expecting it and why didn't Ray tell me his dad was coming home?

And to make matters worse, I looked like a joke in this costume in front of his dad.

Oh God! Talk about humiliation.

"Are you...umm..one of his companions?" He asked, making my eyes go wide. He had known about Ray's lifestyle and by the looks of it, he didn't seem mad.

Damn, American parents are so cool.

"No, Mr.Anderson. I--I am Ridhi D'Souza, his roommate and friend. Please come in," I extended my hand for him to shake and opened the door wider for him to enter.

He shook my hand, still adorning a confused expression on his face and stepped inside while I closed the door behind him.

"I'm sorry, did you say Roomate?" he asked again as if he was finding it hard to believe.

Did I really look like a nutcase from India?

"Umm...yeah. I'm from India and I've been staying here for four months now." I explained, wondering why Ray hasn't told about me to his dad.

Well, I had no idea about his personal life so I shouldn't be that suprised.

"But he owns the apartment. Why would he need a roommate?" he asked, looking around taking in the view of the living room.

What the fuck?

Ray owns this apartment?
