Chapter 4

“What An arrogant potato I have here.” I chuckles too.

“Listen to fix you by cold play it’s beautiful I search the song that she suggested and played it in the background.

Now playing: Fix you by cold play

When you try your best but you don’t succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep
Stuck in reverse

“I am sitting in our veranda, watching the night sky.” Out of nowhere, she said. Her voice soothes me. She has a lovely and appealing voice that you want to hear every day. Anyway I am just saying what I observe.

“Hmm. Have you eaten?” I ask.

I’ve learn from our last conversation that she’s renting in a dorm and her mother is working abroad while her father is in their province, he’s a retired seaman. She is all alone in this City. She is working at the café, she said before that she enjoys working their because she’s a coffee lover.

“Yes.”

“Tell me more about your first love.” I suggest. Lois shares her story about the debutant and her, but she once told me that she’s still in love with her first love. I forgot to ask her more about the girl because I got busy, but now I have time and luckily I still remember it.

When the tears come streaming down your face
’Cause you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
What could it be worse?

“We were so in love that most of the people around us told us that we are so cute together and they hope that we will last long. I hope that too. I always want her to be my last. I change everything for her. We were so happy but then, I woke up and she said, ‘Lois, I fell out of love. I’m sorry’ “ she said. “And that’s it. I know she want us to break up.”

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

I stayed silent, waiting for her to continue.

But high up above or down below
When you are too in love to let it show
Oh but if you never try you’ll never know
Just what you’re worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

“It hurts Blaire.” She said. “I don’t know that it is possible. That the moment she wakes up, the love was gone.”

“I know,” I said. “Cry it out. You don’t need to suffer inside.”

“She told me she wants me to be her bride. We even had plans on our wedding and how many dog we’ll adapts because she now I don’t like kids. I even brought her a concert ticket for our favorite band then Heck, just like that, she’s gone.” She continues. I hear her voice becomes hoarse, I know she’s crying.

“She’s my home, my last resort and now, I don’t know where to go. I’m lost.” She continue.

“I can adopt you. I mean, you can stay for how long you want in my house.” I said. It’s not literally adapting her, but somewhat I want to be her companion and to let her know that she has someone to lean on.

“Thank you, Blaire.”

“You are always welcome, Lois.” I said.

“Do you know, I can relate to that song.” She shares. Deep inside me want to protect her. I want to hug her and tell her that ‘you’re safe now.’

“Yeah, the lyrics suit you.” I said. “But Fix you by Myk Perez suits you the best.” Then I laugh.

There is a long silence after that.

“I will try to fix you” I sing the chorus part. I want to tell her that I am willing to help her. Just like, I said earlier.

“Where do broken hearts go?” She asks.

“Did they find their way home~” I sang the next part. You can’t blame me, I remember the song hehe.

“Seriously, Blaire?” I laugh at what she said.

“Sorry, I can’t help it.” I chuckles. “I guess they don’t just ran away. But they take their time to heal.”

“It’s been a year since I break up with my first love but why my heart still broken?” She asks.

I laugh. “How ironic it is. You just break up with your ex but then it is your first love who you keep on talking as if you just broke up to her yesterday. You are not that affected to Abi, aren’t you? Tell me honestly, did you really love her or you just make her as your rebound?”

Abigail is the name of the debutant and the woman she just broke up recently.

“Did you really love her?” I continue.

“I do. I loved her. But I guess it faded. Arghh I don’t know. It’s complicated.” She said.

“I guess you don’t love her as much as how you love your first. I mean, look at you. All you keep on talking is about your first love. Saying how much it still hurts you. “ I counter attack.

I have a point right?

“You’re first love gives you so much to remember that you forgot you have someone who catch you the moment you fall because of her.” I continue.

Love is not that complicated, relationship is.

“It’s 3am. Aren’t you sleepy?” she asks diverting the topic.

“I am. Hmm I’ll sleep now. I guess I’ll talk to you tomorrow then?”

“Goodnight, Blaire.” She said.

“’Goodnight, Lois. Sleep tight.”
