The Day He Left
I woke up only to see that my boyfriend wasn’t laying beside me. I got up, had a shower, and got ready for the day. I went downstairs to make myself a coffee, and saw Maddox sitting at the table with his face in his hands. I made two coffees and went to sit beside him, then I saw a paper sitting on the table. I asked him what was wrong and he looked up at me, I realized he had been crying, his eyes were bloodshot red. He handed me the paper, I read it and it said that he had to join the army. Tears started to roll down my face. I couldn’t believe that he had to leave me, especially since we have a baby on the way. He put his arm around me and told me he would come back and visit when he can. I asked him when he had to leave, and he said the army would be sending a car to pick him up and take him to the airport at seven o’clock the next morning. Later that day I went to help him pack. I was upset that he had to go, but he needed to, so I helped even though I didn’t want to. Two hours later we had all his bags packed and I went to sit on the couch. As soon as I sat down, Maddox came and sat with me. We cuddled and watched tv. two hours later we went to bed. When I woke up, I could hear Maddox in the shower so I got up and got ready for the day. I made the bed and went downstairs to make breakfast. I made pancakes and bacon. Maddox came down and kissed me on the forehead, then we sat down and ate. fifteen minutes later we heard someone at the door. I opened the door so Maddox could finish eating. When I opened the door there was a large man in a uniform. When I saw the man I told him Maddox would be there in a second. I closed the door and started crying, I walked over to Maddox and told him that the driver was waiting. Maddox got up and Hugged me. “don’t worry, I will come back to visit you and the baby.” Maddox said. He kissed me and walked out the door. I stood at the window and watched them drive away.
