CHAPTER 22

3 Months Later

Hunter whipped his truck into the driveway behind Claire’s SUV. He hadn’t seen her in two weeks and he couldn’t wait. She was hopping from one foot to the other in the doorway. He grabbed his bag and the large bouquet of flowers for her. The heat hit him and he was so tired of it. They spent two weeks away on a job in a town a couple of hours away. It was worth it but everyone was ready to be back home. He didn’t even bother going back to the clubhouse. Since the fight with Gabe, he was practically living with her and his bike was now in her garage.

“Hi sweetheart. You look pretty.”

“Hi…” she smoothed down her new cold shoulder top. “Thank you.”

He scooped her up and gave her a passionate knee bending kiss, shutting the door behind him. She still blushed every time he kissed her. They had just moved into that phase recently and he was thrilled. He stuck his nose in her hair and inhaled deeply. “You smell good.”

“That’s dinner.” She snorted and started giggling.

“That smells good too. I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you too. This house was awfully empty without you.” She smiled and crinkled her nose at him.

“Here…these are for you.” He handed her the large bouquet.

“They’re very pretty.”

“So are you. I’m going to shower, so I’m pretty too.” He winked at her.

She started laughing as she watched him walk down the hallway.

He felt better being back at the place he considered home. Things were tense with him and Gabe and the clubhouse wasn’t the same. He had lifted everything after thirty days but there was no brotherhood anymore. He let the hot water wash his tension away. His stomach was rumbling by the time he got out and he wondered if he could just walk around in a towel the rest of the night. He pulled his pajama pants on and cracked his back, feeling better.

“I made Sunday supper even though it’s Friday.”

“Do I smell meatloaf?”

“Yes…figured you lived on sandwiches.”

“God I love you woman.” He watched as her eyes widened.

“You love my cookin.” She grinned at him.

“Yeah…but I love you too.”

She realized he wasn’t teasing and her hands started to shake. Her stomach was full of butterflies and she could feel her cheeks flame up. “I love you too, Hunter.” He was across the room and in the kitchen, picking her up so they were nose to nose.

“Say it again.”

She put her face to his chest, inhaling deeply. “I love you too.” She mumbled against him.

“Couldn’t hear you.” He grinned and dropped a kiss on the top of her head.

She put her lips up to his ear and whispered. “I love you too.”

“I missed you sweetheart…I didn’t sleep for shit without you next to me. I missed waking up and seeing your pretty face every morning.” His stomach rumbled, breaking the moment.

“I missed you too, let’s eat.”

Dinner was quiet. Claire had a slight blush throughout the meal and Hunter couldn’t keep his mouth closed because of his grin. He leaned back in his chair when he was done. He was happy to see she had a little more of an appetite and he noticed there was no alcohol in the house. He helped her clean up and they settled on the couch, his arm draped around her as she snuggled in.

“I fixed the mirror. The wood was cracked, it took me a little longer. It’s a slightly darker stain but it looks as good as new.”

“Thank you…submit an invoice to the club.”

“Nope.”

“Yes. You’re not going to do it for free.”

“I did it for you. Plus…being the President has to have some perks.”

His heart was happily thudding around in his chest as he looked down at her.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Would you like to go on a ride tomorrow?”

“I thought Seven would never ask.”

“Claire…”

She giggled as he slowly pushed her down on the couch underneath him.

“Seven…”

He growled and kissed her on her neck. She laughed when his breath tickled her as he stretched out over her. He put his hands under her and flipped them over on the couch. His appreciation for her saying his road name couldn’t be hidden. She wiggled around on top of him and he flexed his hips. He was fast, pulling her down, possessing her lips. His hands caged her face as she opened her mouth, letting him explore with his tongue. They ended up in the bedroom at some point, neither knew exactly when.

He took his time with her. His touches were soft and so were her moans. She was a panting mess by the time he entered her. He was gentle while she adjusted to his size. Every touch, every sigh brought them closer, tipping the other over the edge. Hunter stilled on top of her as he buried his face in neck filling her. She had followed after him, pulling him tighter against her chest.

They stayed wrapped up in each other, sharing soft kisses and lingering touches. Claire fell asleep against him and he laid there, thinking about them. He was happy, more than he had ever been in his life. And he was disappointed in the club and his people more than he had ever been in his life. He couldn’t believe Claire gave herself to him tonight. He was a done man and had nine months to convince her to stay. That he was worth her love and staying for.

Claire woke up hours later with Hunter’s lower half poking around in his sleep. She stifled a laugh and traced the dark ink that decorated his arms. She thought about how different things were in her life. She was happy and settled. She had stopped having nightmares, hadn’t drank and was eating a little more. She was thriving and so was the shop. And the big man curled around her was her angel. She hoped he liked the surprise.

He was awake as soon as he felt her feather light touch. “Can’t get enough of me?”

He could feel her smile in the dark. “Was just thinkin.”

“Bout what?”

“About how happy I am. How settled I feel and better I’m doin.”

“I’m proud of you.” He felt a huge sense of relief that she felt settled. He wanted to laugh.

“Thank you…I’m proud of myself a little bit too.”

“I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life Claire.”

“You have to fix what’s happenin at the club, Seven.”

He growled and was on top of her. “I’m not going to be so gentlemanly this time.”

“I don’t reckon I asked.”

He wasn’t and it was early morning and three orgasms later for Claire that he emptied himself inside of her, professing his love. They fell asleep, tangled in the sheets. He felt her stretch against him, her naked body was warm and her skin was smooth. His dick was standing at full attention and he didn’t know where this was coming from.

“Beast.” Claire croaked out and stuffed her face in his side.

“I refuse to apologize.”

She snorted and kissed his ribs. His dick bobbed up and down, waiting for her attention. She reached out and touched him lightly. He grabbed her hand and wrapped it around him, showing her the pressure he liked. He moaned when she stroked him slowly. He threw his head back and let a moan rumble from his chest. He felt her lips wrap around him and he sat up.

“Did I do that wrong?”

“Jesus no, I almost came in your mouth and I’m not ready yet.”

She beamed and he wondered who opened the curtains that were still closed.
