Out In The Open

This morning I slowly get out of bed. I'm still sore from this past weekend with Alaric. We spend the remainder of the weekend watching movies, eating, and making love. He is amazing. He took care of me so well. He ran me a bath to help with the soreness. He didn't make me feel uncomfortable when we had to change the sheets because of my blood. Every time we did it, he made sure I was ok and wasn't in pain. I'm so happy that I lost my virginity to him. I decided to get up and get ready finally. I am working with Lanie today. I might see Alaric in the building, but he will be recording, so I might not see him.

Once I'm done getting ready, I head out the door. When I walk out the front door of my building, I'm surrounded by paparazzi. What the fuck? They are here for me? Why? I have cameras flashing in my face and asking me a bunch of questions. I don't answer any and hurry to my car. I drive quickly to the label, and my eyes widen when I see a few paparazzi waiting outside the building. I run past them as fast as possible. The only questions I am being asked are about Alaric's and I's relationship. I start to get angry. I thought he was going to wait to announce our relationship. Why would he do this? I stomp to the front desk and ask Jane if he is in the building yet. I have some time before I have to work with Lanie. Jane must sense that I am pissed because she doesn't ask any questions and tell me that he is here. I almost run to the recording room that he is in. Before I slam the door open, I stop and take a few deep breaths. I promised him that I would talk to him first before jumping to conclusions.

I calmly open the door and see him sitting next to Damien. He looks up at me and smiles brightly. He must notice that I'm pissed because his smile drops to a frown.

"What's wrong, baby?''

"Can I talk to you for a minute? It's urgent." I try not to sound pissed off, but I must fail because he looks at me with a worried expression and then looks at Damien. Damien takes the hint and stands up, and leaves the room.

Alaric sits there, waiting for me to speak.

I open my mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. I take a deep breath. "Why did you tell the press about our relationship? I thought we were going to wait." I try not to sound pissed.

His eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "I didn't tell anyone about our relationship. Well, only my manager but that's because he is my best friend as well. But I promise I didn't tell anyone else."

"Then why did I get ambushed outside my apartment building and this building?" Now, I'm getting slightly annoyed.

"Fuck!" He says harshly and runs his fingers through his hair. Normally I'd be ogling him because his muscles flex when he makes this habit, but right now, I'm too pissed and annoyed.

"I don't know who told them. Only a few people know about us, and they wouldn't say anything. When other people ask because they see us together, I tell them your Damien's assistant and co-producer. No one ever asks more than that. After you left last night, I went straight to bed and go up early to come here. We've been here for hours. I promise, baby, I didn't leak anything. You said you wanted to wait, and I respect your decision." He has a pleading look in his eyes. He's silently begging me to believe him.

The more I think about it, the more I do believe him. He wouldn't gain anything by leaking this information.

"I believe you. I don't know what to do now. They are saying some fucked up shit." I pinch the bridge of my nose. I feel a headache coming on.

"What are they saying?" He hesitantly asks.

"Oh, nothing much. Just if I'm using you to get ahead in my career, suppose it's true that I'm a gold digger. Just things along those lines." I shrug my shoulders.

He stands up quickly. "What the fuck? Why would they ask all that shit? Fuck! We have to talk to Damien and get the labels PR on this and clear all this shit up. Then we need to get you a bodyguard." He takes his phone out of his pocket.

"Wait! Just leave it alone for now. I don't really care about what they are saying. We know that's not why I'm with you, and that's all that matters. And I don't need a bodyguard. Please." I grab his hand and stop him from doing anything drastic.

He sighs. "I don't want them to hassle you. I want to keep you safe. Sometimes they can get pushy, especially if you are alone."

"I'll try not to be alone then."

He rolls his eyes. "If you don't want a bodyguard, then I think you should move in with me."

"Uhm. What?" I'm shocked. He wants me to move in with him?

"I was going to ask you after I came back from my show on Thursday. You're at my place all the time anyway. And the security is way better than yours. Please?" He gives me the puppy dog eyes.

"Can I think about it?"

"Yes. But today and tomorrow, I want to pick you up from work. And I was hoping you could stay at my place when I am gone. Ok?"

I nod my head. I'm still stunned by him asking me to move in with him.

He moved closer to me and cups my cheek. "Are we good?'' He whispers.

"Yeah, we're good." I stand on my tiptoes and kiss him. He responds immediately. I pull away and take a deep breath.

"I have to get going. Lanie should be here soon, and I need to prepare a bit."

"Yeah, I still have a lot of work to do here with Damien. Would you please not leave the building alone? Text me if you want something to eat. I'll be here all day."

"Ok,'' I give him a quick kiss and walk out the door.
