Chapter 15 - Nind Castle 🌶

They made camp early and after some food they went to bed. Fain wanted them to be up early and wanted everyone suitable rested.

Part of her couldn’t wait to be alone with Fain because ever since the Spectral, every since he had spoken about taking her away he’d done nothing more than simply hold her and it was driving her mad, both with desire for him and with frustration too. She knew she needed a break, hell she’d agreed with him but now he was treating her like she was fragile, like she was made of glass and that she might crack at any minute.

She lay beside him nuzzling into him and breathing his scent but she could tell already that he wasn’t going to do anything, he still wasn’t going to touch her. She frowned at him confused but he merely shook his head and told her to wait.

“Wait for what?” She asked.

“I said I wanted you to rest a while.”

“Look at me. I’m resting. What more do you want?”

He sighed. “I want you, you know that. But I also want you strong. Healthy. That Spectral almost killed you.”

“But it didn’t. It didn’t kill me.” She replied.

He pulled her in tighter to him wrapping his arms around her, feeling her chest moving in and out, feeling her breath on his skin. Smelling the sweet scent of her hair. It would take nothing to simply reach down and touch her, he thought, to run his hands over her. “I want you to recuperate. We’ve all asked too much of you and it nearly broke you.”

“But I’m not broken.” She half whispered. “I’m not.”

He kissed her forehead. “When we’re at Nind…”

“What? You will love me then?”

“I love you now.” He stated turning to look at her, taking her face in his hands. “I loved you when we were back in Montefore, I loved you when you fought the Spectrals, when you disobeyed my brother and when you almost drowned.” He said his voice more serious than she’d heard in a long time. “And because I love you I’m forcing myself to wait. How can I say you need rest and then I’m tiring you out each night?”

“But you don’t…”

“Alice. You have no idea how much I want you, how much I am fighting the urge to simply rip your clothes off right now.”

“Then why aren’t you?”

“Because I can’t be selfish about this. Because I don’t think you realise how exhausted you are. And because to put my needs above yours wouldn’t be very loving.” He said simply and she knew it was no good. She sighed giving in, letting him win as he always did, she thought.

***

It took them another day to get to Nind Castle. Alice gasped when she saw it. It looked like a real fairytale castle, white stone walls, high on a hill, surrounded by woodland and a huge moat.

“This is Nind?”

“Do you mind being stuck here for a few weeks?” He asked smiling at her already knowing what she would say.

“Not at all.” She smiled.

As the drawbridge dropped Alice glimpsed inside. It was more beautiful than Montefore had been. It was so picture perfect it was almost unbelievable.

They rode across the bridge passing the gatehouse and through to the stables. Nela and Indi immediately started unpacking the carts. Fain had insisted they come for her safety but in reality they wouldn’t have much to do while they were there and Alice hoped they’d get some deserved time off too.

Fain helped her dismount and then they walked up the steps and inside.

“I’ll show you to your rooms and then we should pay our respects to Crown Prince Hal who will be no doubt eager to meet you.”

Alice nodded noting that he had said ‘your rooms’ and took it to mean that they would be sleeping separately and internally she felt deflated. It was like he was pulling back from her, like he was trying to disconnect but it didn’t make any sense. Even if she needed a break, even if she was as tired as he said she was why would he be pulling back? Why would he be creating this void between them? Especially after everything they’d been though. Perhaps, he didn’t want her anymore, she thought, perhaps now that her Magic was gone and she was useless to them he didn’t love her anymore.

“These are your rooms.” Fain said opening the double doors to a huge light filled room furnished with the most intricately carved furniture Alice had ever seen. She walked in gasping at the sight of it. “There’s a bedroom, dressing room, and second private sitting room through here as well as a bathroom.” He said watching her face for approval.

But Alice was too busy staring out of the huge windows to notice anything else. It looked like there was a whole secret garden just the other side.

“You can go explore it if you’d like.” Fain said seeing where her attention was.

“How?” She asked turning to look at him.

“Through here…” He stated pulling one of the thick velvet curtains aside and revealing a door hidden behind it. He turned the key that was in the lock and the door popped open.

“After you little Fae.” He said and a part of her felt her heart leap at his old nickname for her.

Alice walked out gasping at the space in front of her. The garden was filled with plants and flowers that filled the air around her with their scent and it smelt incredible and best of all it was all surrounded by thick stone walls of the surrounding castle but there were no windows. It was completely hidden away.

She turned looking at Prince Fain.

“Do you like it?” He asked and she nodded.

“It’s beautiful.” She said. “Thank you.”

He kissed her before pulling her into him and breathing the scent of her as it mixed with the garden around her. He ran his hand through her hair and then down slowly stroking her neck. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. She wanted him so much it hurt, so much it felt like she could barely control herself but she wasn’t going to try anything, she thought, she didn’t want to be rejected again because she didn’t think she could bear it.

“We should go see Crown Prince Hal.” She said quietly.

He ran his thumb slowly over her bottom lip.

“Crown Prince Hal can wait.” He replied and she opened her eyes looking at him and frowning. “Because I can’t…”

He grabbed her then, his hands clasping her face and his tongue deep in her mouth, caressing hers. She moaned as she kissed him back, feeling the raw emotion of all of it rushing through her. Feeling how rejected she had felt and how much she wanted him right now. She undid his cloak, letting it fall onto the grass in a heap, and then she unbuttoned his shirt and half wrenched it off him. He pulled her down in amongst the flowers and she giggled.

“Here?” She said suddenly realising exactly where they were.

“Would you rather go inside?” He asked and she shook her head.

“Here is perfect.” She replied and he kissed her again before he undid the buttons on her shirt. She lay there, letting him undress her. And then he kissed her shoulder, her neck, before he stroked across the top of her breasts lightly, teasing her with his finger, watching her face and enjoying the effect he was having on her. She gasped, her breathing increasing with every stroke and he saw how her breasts were threatening to escape the fabric holding them.

He undid her corset, releasing them and she gasped again as he took one of her nipples in his mouth and began to play with it with his tongue, gently at first before he bit it. Then he ran his hand down across her stomach and undid her breeches. She ran her hands over his chest, feeling his muscles and then she reached down to feel how hard he was beneath his breeches. He groaned at her touch and she kissed him, her tongue now deep in his mouth while she ran her hand up and down him.

He yanked her breeches open and pulled her underwear to one side, and then he shoved his finger deep into her. She cried out and arched her back and he bit her nipple again before he moved down and began to lick her clit, tasting her as his finger still moved within her. She gasped gripping his shoulders hard with her hands as a wave of pleasure flushed through her.

And then he was suddenly in her, thrusting hard and she moved her hips with him. He thrust harder and harder. She rolled over, pushing him onto his back in the grass and with each thrust she cried out. He ran his hands over her breasts, holding them as she gyrated against him and then he was coming, filling her up and she cried out, feeling the explosion rushing through her before she fell back on top of him.

He held her to him, his hand on her neck, listening to her breathing and watching as the sunlight and shadows danced over her body from the foliage around them.

She looked at him and smiled.

“I love you.” She said quietly, almost so quietly he didn’t hear her. He moved so that he could look at her and she blushed.

“I love you too.” He said and he kissed her. They lay there, holding each other, feeling the cool air around them.

“I didn’t hurt you did I?” He asked after a few minutes and she shook her head. “I didn’t mean to be so rough. But as soon as I touched you I couldn’t control it anymore.” She frowned slightly.

“I’m not made of glass.”

“I know. But I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You won’t. I’m tougher than I look.”

“You do look pretty tough to me.” He said with a smile and he ran a finger along the curve of her.

“Promise me something though…”

“What?”

“That you won’t pull back like that again.”

“Like what?”

“Like you have been. It feels like you were shutting me out. Like you didn’t want me anymore.”

“I didn’t mean to make you think that. How could I not want you? I love you. I was trying to protect you. After everything that happened back at the Island. After what I said…”

“What do you mean?” she asked confused.

“Before the Sharn’s caught us. When I said I’d given you too much freedom...”

“Oh that.” Alice said suddenly remembering. “I forgot about that.”

“Well I didn’t. And I didn’t forget the look on your face when I said it. I saw how much it hurt.”

Alice winced and looked away.

“Did you mean it?” She asked quietly.

“Not exactly.”

“So you did mean some of it then?” She looked back at him shocked.

“What I meant was that it felt like I had taken advantage. That I had misled you somehow and that I was responsible for what you did.”

“How?”

“In that us being together might make you think it overrode what you are to my brother.”

“I’ve never thought that.” Alice replied. “I’m well aware of what I am to your brother. He makes me well aware of it.”

Fain sighed. “All I’ve wanted to do from the start is protect you. But I can’t protect you from him. I can’t protect you from Uther.”

“I’m not asking you too. I have never asked you too.”

They fell silent for a few moments.

“So that’s why you pulled back?”

“Yes. It felt like I was taking advantage. I didn’t want to take advantage and I didn’t want to mislead you.”

“You weren’t taking advantage. You haven’t misled me. I want you and I want this.” She said and he kissed her hard.

“I’m sorry.” He said and he ran his hand through her hair, pulling her head gently to lean on his shoulder.
