free from worry, concern or anxiety.
Elliott sat in the recliner with Kingsley sitting on her lap while Benjamin and I sat on the couch. Him and I had been planning out our questions all day since he wasn't happy with how things went last time. He really didn't like hearing that I believed Elliott and I knew each other better than they did.
"Okay, we have a lot of questions here so I hope you're ready," Benjamin said as he pulled out the notes app on his phone. "First one's for you, King. What sport did I play as a kid?"
"Soccer," Kingsley replied instantly with a shrug. Benjamin smiled and turned to me which caused me to roll my eyes. Scrolling through my phone, I picked out a question I knew she would have had to pay attention to know the answer.
"Alright, El," I started to say as I looked at her with a smile. "What is one of my bad habits?"
"You pick at the skin by your nails," she answered right away with a small smile. "You also pick at your scabs and that drives me insane."
I laughed as I nodded my head and turned to look back at Benjamin. He scowled lightly but neither of the girls noticed as he started looking for his next question.
"Okay, here's an easy one," Benjamin started to say. I looked up and saw Kingsley stiffen slightly but Elliott rubbed her back softly and she relaxed. "What's my favorite color?"
"Yellow," she said questioningly but Benjamin nodded which caused her to release a grateful sigh. "This is more intense than I anticipated. I don't like this at all."
Elliott laughed as she reached down on the floor to grab her bottle of water. Taking a sip, she made eye contact with me and winked which caused a smile to break out on my face.
"Baby, what is my middle name?" I implored. I knew I've never told her the answer to that question before but I wanted to see what she came up with.
"Paul," Elliott replied with a smile. My mouth fell open in surprise as I looked over at Benjamin in shock.
"What, had you never told her that?" Benjamin questioned after taking in my facial expression. I shook my head no as he turned his attention to Elliott. "How did you know that?"
"It's his fathers name and I remember him saying that the tradition in their family is the first son takes the fathers name as their middle name."
I jumped up off the couch and walked over to her and placed a kiss to her forehead. Kingsley quickly climbed off her lap and walked over to Benjamin and sat down next to him as she threw her legs over his lap.
Elliott smiled as I moved to sit on the armrest but she slid out of the chair and told me to sit before she fell into my lap. I rested one arm around her waist while the other rested on her thigh and one of her arms was wrapped around my neck.
"Come on, King, we got this babe," Benjamin said as he turned to face her. "How many siblings do I have and what are their names?"
Kingsley sat there quietly for a minute and bit her thumb nail as she looked deep in thought. Benjamin's face fell slightly which caused Kingsley to quickly sit up and cup his face in her hands.
"You've only talked about them once because you guys don't get along so I'm just trying to remember," she said softly before she smiled weakly. "You have a sister named Cara and a twin brother named Bennett."
Benjamin released a thankful sigh as he kissed her quickly before turning back to face Elliott and I. I tilted my head to look at her with narrowed eyes as I thought of what question to ask her next.
"Alright I got one," I said as she cocked an eyebrow at me. "When is my birthday?"
"October 18," Elliott replied with a smile. Nodding, I pressed a kiss to her cheek and we both turned to the other couple.
"What's my body count?" Benjamin asked. Elliott coughed as she brought a hand up to cover her mouth in surprise before she hid her face in my neck.
Kingsley answered but neither of us was paying attention because I had started talking to Elliott instead.
"What's yours?" I questioned quietly as she slowly lifted her head up to look at me. "I'll tell you mine. I believe it's around 50 but it could be more."
Elliott relaxed slightly under my hold but she shook her head which caused me to cup her face in my hands and whisper, "It's okay, baby."
"I don't know, twice that probably," Elliott said shamefully. I smiled at her and pressed a kiss to her nose as I finally got her to look at me again.
"Then I can be lucky number 101," I told her with a wink that got her to laugh. I smiled as she shook her head and rested back on my shoulder.
"Your turn, you guys," Benjamin said as he rested an arm around Kingsley's shoulders.
"Okay, here's one. What's my favorite movie?"
"You mean our favorite movie?" She said with a laugh as she lifted her head. "Tommy Boy."
I chuckled quietly as I heard Benjamin groan and narrow his eyes at us. I shrugged as I saw Kingsley smile softly before she rested her head on Benjamin's shoulder.
"You're just jealous that I found a girl with the same taste in movies as me," I teased as I wrapped an arm around Elliott.
"So you like 80's movies, too?" Kingsley questioned which caused Benjamin to cough on a laugh.
"Really, Elli?" He questioned as he looked at her with a raised brow and a smirk on his face.
"And I didn't even have to play Wham outside her window yet," I said with a laugh. Elliott pulled back and looked at me with a small smile tugging at her lips.
"You remembered," she said softly as she rested a hand on my chest.
"Of course I did," I whispered as I rested my forehead against hers. She leaned forward and pressed her lips to mine as she cupped my face in her hands.
"Get a room," Kingsley teased as Benjamin whistled. I pulled back and looked at them with a cheeky smile.
"Can we? Do we have time?" Elliott laughed as she shook her head and buried her face in my neck. I smiled to myself as I rested my head on top of hers and closed my eyes. I suddenly heard the sound of a camera click and looked up to see a sheepish smile on Kingsley's face as she quickly put her phone down.
The game only lasted for about half an hour with me and Elliott winning by two questions. Thankfully Benjamin didn't see as bummed as he did last time as he stood up and reached for Kingsley's hand before they walked down the hall toward her room.
Elliott released a gentle sigh, her breath fanning my neck as she wrapped her arms around my neck and held on tightly. Pushing down the footrest, I slipped an arm under her legs and stood up, carrying her toward her room bridal style.
Closing the door behind me, I walked over and set Elliott down on the bed before pulling the blankets over her. Kissing her on the forehead, I turned to walk toward the door when I felt a hand on my wrist.
Turning around, I saw her smiling up at me tiredly as she pulled me down to sit on the bed next to her. I smiled and brushed some of the hair out of her face as we stared at each other. I would never get tired of looking into those eyes.
"Will you stay again?" She asked as she rolled over to lay on her back. Smiling, I nodded as I climbed over her and stripped off my shirt and jeans before sliding under the blankets with her. She immediately crawled over and rested an arm over my chest as she rested her head on my shoulder.
It didn't take long for her to fall asleep and as I laid there listening to her even breathing, I couldn't help but think of what extravagant gesture I could do to convince her to make this official.
