“I don’t want to talk about it,” I unlock my locker putting up my books.

“I didn’t say anything”

“No, but I know you and you were going to ask if i’m ok. I’m fine, there’s nothing to worry about”

“Yeah, just you screaming in the middle of the class is nothing to worry about,” I can hear the eye roll as he speaks.

I close my locker and turn to him, “I’m fine”

“Yeah, she was basicaly screaming and crying in class,” I turn around to see Ms. Priss talking with her minions.

“Do you need something?” One of them asks as they notice me.

“Yeah, if you guys hate me so much why do you talk about me 24/7?” I raise an eyebrow as the girls look for an answer.

“That’s what I thought”. I turn back towards Lew and walk away. So I fell asleep big deal!

you also screamed out loud

Everyone screams

you screamed for help

I hate you, B

love ya too, B!

Ugh!

I turn the corner only to bump into what feels like a brick wall. Pressing my hand to my hand a mumble a sorry and walk around the person.

“Watch it,” I stop in my tracks and turn arond towards him.

“Don’t need to be a little bitch about it, grimmy”

“You ran into me,” he growls out.

“Technically I walked into you and I didn’t know you were a dog. Looks like i’m learning new things everyday,” I turn around with a smirk on my face. One step and before I know it i’m against the wall.

“What did you just call me?”

“Do you need me to say it into a microphone? Dog?” I notice everyone’s eyes on us. Don’t they have better things to do instead.

I turn back to grimmy and can practicaly see steam coming from his ears. His breathing is heavy as he looks at me. I look back at him, narrowing my eyes at him, provoking him to do something.

Leaning in closer, he whispers in my ear, “I know your hidding something and it isn’t little”.

I don’t let what he said get to me.

“Maybe, but so are you, now unlike you I actually have plans so,” I jab him in the ribs and escape his hold. Saluting him with the middle finger, I continue walking to the doors. The kids move out of the way, their jaws open, most likley surprised at my actions.

I give a smile to each of them, they have no idea who I am and that just makes everything sweeter. Opening the doors, I slip on my sunglasses, this will be fun.

Kick’s Diner is a small retro diner, checkered flooring, a jupbos in the corner, red and silver barstools. Even our outfits have a retro look to them. Kick, the owner, is a nice middle aged man.

His wife, Claire, was one of my dads friends, who watches Bryant and she also got me the job. It isn’t the best job, but it pays good.

I know what your thinking, you lived in a manison, had money. Why aren’t you using that money to live off of? Well you see that money isn’t mine until the reading of the will. The will, we can’t find.

So until then it looks like i’m going to be a waitress. Fun.

I get pulled out of my thoughts by the chime of the bell. Looking up I internally groan, why are they here? Sighing, I close my eyes and put on a smile. When I open my eyes, I see Lew giving me an apologetic smile.

“Welcome to Kick’s Diner, pick any seat and i’ll be with you shortly,” You can do this B.

Once they pick a booth, I grab menus and my pad of paper. Stopping at their table I place down the menus, and stand up straight.

“What can I get you guys?”

“My normal,” grimmy says.

“And what it that?” I ask, I know he’s prvoking me and it’s working.

“It’s my normal,” he states in a ‘duh’ tone.

“If you didn’t notice, i’m new and don’t know what your ‘normal’ is. So if you could please tell me that would be great”

“He wants the burger and frie meal,” blondie tells me.

“And for you?”

“We’ll all have the same”

“Drinks?”

“Two cokes and a water”

“I’ll be back with your drinks,” I clench the pen in my hands as I walk away.

“wait!” I stop and turn around.

“Yes?”

“You forgot the menus,” he says with a smile. Walking up to him a snatch the menus from him and smile.

After I hand them their drinks, I tell Frank, another waiter, that i’m taking my break now. Stepping through the doors, I breathe in the freash air. I close my eyes and let out a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding in. Walking to my car, I open the passenger door, popping open the glove box. My fingers clutch the box and lighter.

I stare at them in my hand.

What would he think?

I throw the two objects back in and slam the car door shut. What are you doing Bridg?
