Chapter 24

I was dressed in my gown when Victoria entered my room looking at me and I knew.

“You know.” It was a statement and she gulped at me.

“You’re hurt-

“You know it’s surprising that I wanted him to tell you everything yet he wouldn’t tell you anything when we were together and now that we aren’t-

“Not for him you aren’t. I saw a man who was sobbing, crying like a child. I’ve never seen my brother like that, Akira.”

My heart thudded painfully in my chest as she continued,

“He told me he’d rather have nothing but you rather than everything except you. You mean more to him than anyone else in the world.”

I shook my head,

“If only it were true. I heard him agree to marry.. to marry someone else. A royal born, a princess.” I choked. “He told me he’d tell everybody about us but he lied, I can’t trust him anymore.”

Victoria walked upto me as she held my hands in hers.

“Akira, honey listen to him once. He’s trying, he wants you back. He needs you.”

I shook my head as my eyes watered.

“He’s fighting for you Akira.” She whispered and I wrenched my hands out of hers.

“I thought you were my friend, why are you doing this when I’m trying so hard to move on with my life.” I shrieked at Victoria.

“Akira I am your friend-

“No, not right now you aren’t. You are his sister right now, I’m more than just hurt, Victoria. Do you know how many years I’ve been waiting for him? And if you’re still asking me to-

“Akira I’m not asking you to do anything, all I’m saying is… he isn’t doing good. I just want you to know that he loves you, even if he has made mistakes, he loves you with everything he has.”

I gulped.

“Fine, say that I believe you. Now what do you want from me?”

She looked at me sadly,

“Nothing, Akira. Whatever happens next will be your decision, and he’ll have to work for it to be in his favour. You know why? Because he did hurt you, as his sister I wanted to tell you what he was going through and now” she walked closer to me, “As your friend I will stand by you no matter what decision you take. I promise.” She squeezed my arm walking out the door.

I walked off to get fresh air when I saw Nicholas in the garden through a window.

I walked to him as he turned around me flashing a smile.

“I need a friend right now. I’m not ready for any relationship, I don’t know if I ever will be but.. I could use a friend.” I whispered as understanding dawned up his eyes, but there was something else too.

“I’ll be there for you in any way that you allow me to, if it’s a friend you need, you got it.” He flashed another smile and I returned it with my own.
