Chapter 29

“Mind explaining to me what’s going on?” I arched a brow at Nicholas who’s head snapped to me and his eyes widened.

He smiled walking upto me holding my arms checking me for injuries,

“Are you alright? Are you hurt?”

“Nicholas, I’m fine. What happened?”

I saw his jaw tick.

“I heard what Victoria did. She helped Victor.. abduct you.”

I sighed,

“Things started on the wrong foot but I’m okay now, we’re okay.” I smiled lightly as his brows pulled down.

“What do you mean?” He asked quietly.

I smiled,

“I.. I talked to Victor, things are better now. He’s.. he’s told everyone about us and he asked me to marry him-

“And? What did you say?” He gritted and I frowned.

“I said yes-

“Dammit.” He let go of me as he rubbed his hand against his face.

“Why are you being like this? I thought you’d be happy for me. We are friends, aren’t we?” I tentatively asked.

He looked at me with an intense gaze and I finally realised.

“No. Please, Nicholas.” I whispered as my eyes glossed.

Had I been that ignorant, how could Nicholas have feelings for me? He didn’t even know me.

“Akira you don’t have to marry him, I’m here for you.” He murmured looking at me and I shook my head.

“You’re an incredible man but I can’t be with you. I love him.” she whispered.

My voice sad, I never wanted this to happen. I never wanted to hurt Nicholas. How could this happen?

Nicholas extended his hand to touch my face “Let me-

I took a step back before his hand could touch me.

“I’m sorry Nicholas, but I can’t”

“He left you once.”

I shook my head,

“He never left me, I did. But that doesn’t matter anymore. I’ve been in love with him since we were children, Nicholas. It’s always been him.” I whispered as his face fell.

He nodded stoically and left as my eyes watered.

“I never wanted to hurt you, I’m so sorry.”

He stilled turning around to face me and nodded,

“It’s okay, Akira. I just.. I want you to know I’ll always be here for you.”

I gulped nodding and he left.

I walked back to Victoria’s chambers and Victor took me in his arms as I sobbed,

“I never wanted to hurt him, Vic.”

He sighed pecking my head,

“I know, baby.”
