Wanting to be alone, Blue and I kind of gravitated outside, and sat on the back stairs of the club. The night was clear and cool, the sky a beautiful pageant of dark blue silk and brilliant stars, which shone as brightly as my heart. My girl was sitting here with me, her head resting comfortably on my shoulder, my arm around her waist as we whispered sweet nothings to each other. It couldn’t get better than this.

“I wish we could stay here forever,” she sighed and glanced up at me, her blue eyes mild, gentle and almost dreamy.

“Me too, cookie.” My stomach knotted up and my heart fluttered just below my throat as I nuzzled her hair, inhaling her scent. Her fragrance was a blend of flowers and berries and I loved it.

“We have to go back inside, I know no need to say it,” she cuddled closer to me and buried her face in my neck. “Can we just stay for five more minutes, honeycomb? I’m not ready to share you with the rest of the world.”

“Says the girl who dumped me,” I looked down at her, teasing her with my eyes.

She met my playful mocking gaze and nudged me with her elbow. “You are the one that did the dumping, Coleman.”
“So does this mean-”

“We are not back together,” she smiled her sexy smile and flipped her hair back with sassiness.

Turning her hand over, I pressed her palm on my chest. “Then you shouldn’t have kissed me.”

“I’m only human,” she breathed in a husky voice. “Who can resist all of this..?” she said and trailed her fingers along my jawline.

“Spend the night with me,” I blurted out what had been on my mind-well, since the first moment I saw her.

“I…what are you really asking me, Corbyn?”

I wound my arms around her and kissed her deeply, making it clear as to what I wanted to happen tonight. We were both breathless when I eased back and ran my thumb over her lush pink lips. “Be my first Laura-Jane.”

“Are you sure?” She knew what I was asking of her. What I was offering. “You don’t have-we don’t have to-we can still wait…”

My hands came up, cupping her cheeks and pulling her forward until her face was a breath away from mine. “I don’t want to wait anymore. I want you. All of you.”

I know I was inexperienced but all I wanted to do was lay her down and kiss every inch of her soft, silky skin until we were both panting and trembling with need.

“Corbyn I-”

“Hey!” Zara’s voice echoed from below, starling both of us. “I thought we came here to party?!”

“Zara!” My smile widened as I waved at her, glad to see that she wasn’t still mad at me. “I’ll be right down!”

“Hurry, everyone is looking for you and we’ve ordered food,” she said before she walked back inside.

I was about to get up but Blue pulled my arm. “Wait!” she resounded with such urgency.

“What’s the big emergency?” I laughed, putting my arm around her.

“There’s something we need to-I need to tell you something…it’s about Zara.”

“You know that there is no reason to feel insecure? Maybe I need to explain,” I sighed and stroked the back of her hand with my finger. “Zara and I are not together. We were only pretending so I could make you jealous-”

“That’s not it,” she said with a shake of her dark locks.

“Then what is it, cookie? Why do you look like you’ve just seen a ghost?”

“You can’t trust her, Corbyn.”

“Why ever not?” I queried, surprised by the hard edge I heard in her voice. “She’s been a really good friend and-why would you even say that?”

“She’s-I can’t tell you…” Why was she acting so strange? “You just need to stay away from her.”

“Well, you’re going to have to give me a lot more than that after what you’ve just told me.”

“She’s dangerous!”

I would have laughed if her face wasn’t so serious. “Baby, I have already told you that there is no need to be intimidated by her,” I conveyed, hastening to reassure her. “I love you, Blue. What’s it going to take to convince you that, you are the only girl that I want?”

“I didn’t want it to come to this but you need to choose…” No she wasn’t going to do this. She wouldn’t. “It’s either me or her.”

She did.

“Blue don’t do this?” My mouth turned down into a frown. “You’re being dramatic for no reason.”

“Oh I have a good reason!”

“Baby, please don’t make me choose-”

“Decide or I will do it for you,” she pressed, folding her arms over her chest.

“I don’t understand why you’re behaving so out of character…what’s really going on here?”

“You’re going to choose her over me aren’t you?” It was as if I hadn’t spoken.

“There would be no need for that if you could only tell me what the issue here is?”

“You would really choose her over me?!”

“Baby please-”

“Hey!” Justin hollered from the bottom of the stairs. “Have you two forgotten why you’re here?!”

“We’re done here,” she asserted and pushed herself into a standing position.

“Can we talk about this later?”

“No. Unless you’ve changed your mind?”

“You can’t just make demands like that without giving me an explanation-”

“Helloooo!!” Justin shouted to get our attention yet again. “Blue I need you. It’s kind of an emergency!”

“Coming!” she called back and clambered down the metal stairs before I could get another word in.

’This isn’t over,” I told her as I followed behind her. “We just got back together. Tell me you don’t mean what you said?”

“I do.”

“Finally!” Justin groaned as we neared him. “While I’m ecstatic that you two finally got back together, can you just put off the make-up sex until later? Tee has locked herself in the bathroom.”

“Why?” Her friend asked.

“She is scared that I will ditch her at the altar,” he explained, the distress evident. “She wants us to get married tonight-like now.”

“Are you having second thoughts? Did you tell her that?” I interrogated, wanting to get to the bottom of it.

“No,” he burped and swayed on his feet. He was really hammered. “I love her,” he hiccupped. “I would marry her right here in this bar if that’s what she wants.”

“Then give her what she wants, dude,” I jammed my hands in my pockets and shrugged.

“You know what?” his voice slurred and he staggered back. “You’re right, Coleman…” he stared at me for a moment and then a lopsided smile twisted his lips. “No time like the present right?”

If only he knew that would apply to me more than it did to him.
