Chapter 2
Bree went downstairs and went to the kitchen where her father was.
“Dad,” Bree said.
“Yes sweetheart,” Thomas said.
“I’ll cook dinner,” Bree said.
“Sweetheart, you just got here after a long drive,” Thomas said. “I’m fine, we all took turns driving,” Bree said.
“She can help, honey,” Sally said.
“All right,” Thomas said.
“So how’s the business Dad,” Bree said.
“Doing good, sweetheart,” Thomas said.
“Honey,” Sally said.
“Actually the truth is that it is really the reason I called you home,” Thomas said.
“Does it have something to do with the guest tonight,” Bree said.
“Yes sweetheart,” Thomas said.
“Can you tell me what it is?” Bree asked.
“You will find out later okay, I am just happy you are home,” Thomas said. He hugged her close. She rested her head on his chest.
“I love you Daddy,” Bree said.
“I love you too sweetheart,” Thomas said. They continued making dinner. After it was done, the doorbell rang. Bree went to the door and opened the door and saw two people there.
“Bree?” the guy said.
“Bree?” the girl said.
“Evan, Erica,” Bree said.
“Oh my god I missed you so much!” Erica said. They hugged. Evan hugged her.
“How are you doing, beautiful,” Evan said.
“I’m doing good, how are you both?” Bree asked.
“Better now that you are here, don’t worry, we cut him out of our lives after what he did,” Erica said.
“Yeah we don’t have a brother anymore,” Evan said.
“God, I don’t have a sister, just a stepsister,” Bree said.
“Hello you all,” Lance said.
“Lance!” Bree said. She jumped into his arms. They hugged.
“I missed you so much sis!” Lance said.
“I missed you too!” Bree said.
“I may have forgot to mention that me and Lance are a couple,” Erica said.
“That’s right baby,” Lance said. He pulled Erica into his arms. They hugged and kissed.
“Come on, guys, dinner is ready,” Bree said. They all went to the dining room and sat at the table.
“Evan, Erica, this is Rachel and James Mason, my friends from Denver,” Bree said.
“You guys related to the ex?” James asked.
“Unfortunately by blood but we don’t claim him anymore,” Erica said.
“He is nobody to us,” Evan said.
“We went as far to request he change his last name,” Erica said.
“Of course he won’t,” Evan said.
“I can’t believe what he did to Bree,” Rachel said.
“I wanted to kill him for what he did, he had no respect for her,” Evan said.
“I’m still trying to figure out why he cheated,” Bree said.
“Because Beth is a slut and probably told him some shit,” Brad said.
“She was always jealous of you sis,” Lance said.
“I found out what happened,” Evan said.
“What Evan?” Thomas asked.
“Beth told him that Bree never loved him and that she was planning on leaving Amarillo with a guy,” Evan said.
“Lying bitch,” Bree said.
“He believed her, that’s why he began sleeping with her and broke up with you,” Evan said.
“I swear if I see her, she is going to get it,” Bree said.
“Erica beat her up,” Evan said.
“It was epic,” Brad said.
“I’m surprised she did not press charges,” Erica said.
“Because Kyle didn’t want Erica in jail so he asked her not to,” Evan said.
“She does what he wants, she’s his little puppy,” Erica said.
“Anyways, let’s change the subject shall we,” Thomas said.
“Okay so Dad you said you had something to talk about,” Bree said.
“Yes sweetheart,” Thomas said.
“Dad are you sure about this?” Brad asked.
“You know what it’s about?” Bree asked.
“Yeah sis, but he should be the one to tell you,” Brad said.
“Dad?” Bree asked.
“You know that I own one of the biggest investment firms in the city and Evan owns the other,” Thomas said.
“Yeah,” Bree said.
“Some of my clients made some bad investments and I’ve had to bail them out before they lost everything which got me on the verge of losing everything so I had to go to Evan for a loan,” Thomas said.
“My clients made great investments which afforded me to have money to spare,” Evan said.
“But he only would give me the loan on one condition,” Thomas said.
“What condition?” Bree asked.
“You, sweetheart,” Thomas said.
“What about me?” Bree asked.
“He would do it on the condition that you agree to become his wife,” Thomas said.
“What, an arranged marriage?” Bree asked.
“Something like that,” Evan said.
“Bree?” Thomas asked.
“I need some air!” Bree said. She went out the back door and went down the stairs and sat on a lounge chair by the pool.
