Chapter 38

“Pollo!” Tess screamed as he pounded into her from behind. He fisted her hair and brought her up flush against his chest, thrusting deep and hard. A large hand wrapped gently around her throat, holding her in place as he fucked her with abandon. He slid his free hand between her legs, his fingers finding her clit. Rubbing and pinching the throbbing nub, she felt herself on the edge of an epic orgasm. “Oh my God!” she breathed out. “You fuck me so good, baby!”

“Mmm,” he hummed next to her ear. “Come with me, ángelos. I want to feel you squeeze my cock and milk me dry.” With a final deep penetrating thrust, they came together. Tess’s body spasmed hard and if it weren’t for the hold Apollo had on her, she would have doubled over in the ecstasy.

“I love you,” she whispered. Apollo laid his head on her shoulder, trying to catch his breath. He gently stroked her body and laid them down.

“I love you too, baby girl.” He gathered her in his arms, holding her close as their breathing settled to normal. The Sounders lost to the Natives, passing the cup and ending their season. While Apollo should be upset at the loss, he could only revel in the aftermath of the bliss he’d just experienced with his woman. Every time they made love, it felt new and exciting. The connection between them grew deeper. He never wanted to be apart from his redheaded firecracker. He wanted her sass and her love for the rest of his life. Feeling her soft breaths on his chest, he knew she had fallen asleep.

With a tender kiss to her temple, he disengaged himself and took a quick shower. He had plans and he needed to work fast. As he threw on sweats and a hoodie, he quietly slipped out of the house. Tess was exhausted and would be sleeping for a while, hopefully giving him enough time to accomplish his plan. After several phone calls and several stops, he finally had everything he needed. He couldn’t keep the goofy grin off his face, thinking about Tess’s reaction. Pulling back into the garage, he went to work.

Tess slowly woke, rolling over with a long stretch. When she opened her eyes, she realized she was alone. With a big yawn, she pried herself out of bed and headed for the shower. Singing her favorite Norah Jones song, she lathered her hair and body, smiling at the memories of the hot lovemaking she’d just experienced with Apollo. As she dried off, she sauntered back into the bedroom. She gasped when she saw the gorgeous green dress laid out for her on the bed. She walked toward it and picked up the note. “This dress is beautiful but not as beautiful as you. Put it on and meet me downstairs. Yours always, Apollo.”

Tess smiled. He’d even laid out matching underwear and sexy black heels. Giggling, she got herself ready in the ensemble. With a final swipe of lip gloss, she made her way downstairs. At the bottom of the staircase was a single rose with another note. “Roses are beautiful but they pale in comparison to you. Bring your gorgeous self into the living room.” Shaking her head with a smile, she went into the living room. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. The room was transformed by candlelight and a roaring fire. Lilies were placed everywhere, mixed with roses to give off a heavenly floral scent. Apollo stood by the fire, looking delicious in a black silk shirt and slacks.

“Pollo! What is all this?” She walked into the room, taking in all the details. There was soft music playing in the background and she recognized Norah Jones. Smiling, she stepped toward him. “Baby this is beautiful! What’s the occasion?” Apollo took her hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles.

“I just wanted to celebrate the most beautiful woman on the planet,” he said, his voice low and husky. He was up to something. She could tell by the twinkle in his gorgeous blue eyes.

“What are you up to, handsome?” she said, stepping into his arms. He slowly began to sway to the music.

“Patience, baby girl,” he chuckled. “Just let me pamper you and show you how much you mean to me.” She snuggled into his embrace and sighed happily as they danced. When the song ended, he led her to a small table where dinner was laid out.

“You went to Persephone’s!” she squealed. With a wink, he settled her in her seat. The wine was poured and they dug in to the delicious cuisine. They talked and laughed through the meal, the love for each other shining in their eyes. “Pollo I don’t know how you did all this but thank you, babe. It’s amazing.”

“I’m glad you like it. There’s just one more thing that would make this night perfect.” Tess drew her brows in confusion. She couldn’t think of anything he could have done to add to tonight. Taking her hand, he led her to the couch. “I had no idea how much I would love you, Tess. I didn’t think it was possible to love someone so much it hurt. I know what Pop was talking about all these years. The love he had for Mom. The everlasting kind. The kind we have.” He moved in front of her, getting down on his knees.

“I can’t imagine my life without you in it, baby girl. I don’t want to. I don’t deserve you but I’m damn glad you chose me. I want to spend the rest of my life showing you how much I love you.” He fished in his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Inside the box was the most exquisite ring Tess had ever seen. The round cut diamond sparkled in the firelight, setting the smaller stones ablaze. It was surrounded by yellow citrine, giving the ring the semblance of a blazing sun. He slipped the ring on her finger.

“I was named after the sun god, Apollo but Tess, you are my sun. You have brought so much light and love to my life it outshines everything else. So what do you think? Think you could make me the happiest man on the planet and be my wife?” The tears coursed down her cheeks. She launched herself into his arms, raining kisses on his face. Laughing, he held onto her.

“Yes, you big hunk of gorgeous man that I love with all my heart!” she blurted out. “I will marry you and spend the rest of my life loving the hell out of you!” She took his mouth in a fierce kiss, pouring every ounce of her love into it. When they broke apart, they were breathless. Apollo wiped the tears from her face, kissing each cheek. Tess smoothed his hair and laid her forehead against his. “Best. Proposal. Ever.”

“Definitely one for the grandkids,” he chuckled. He handed her her phone, already keyed up to Meda’s number. “Go on, babe. I know you’re dying to tell her.”

“You know me so well, babe!” She kissed him again. “But right now, she can wait. I have something else in mind.” She laid him back on the floor, watching the firelight play across his handsome face.

“Oh I like where this is going,” he purred, his hands already working their way up her thighs. “Leave the shoes on. I want to fuck you in nothing but those sexy shoes.”

“Mmm you read my mind,” she said, nipping his ear. “I’ve been dying to fuck you in nothing but these sexy shoes.” The rest of the night was spent in passionate lovemaking. Tess had never come so hard or so much in her life. Apollo was a master at making her body sing. Now that he was going to be her husband, he was more in tune with her body than every before. She couldn’t wait to be his wife, to call him her husband.

Laying breathless and sated, wrapped in a blanket on the floor in front of the fire, Tess couldn’t help but stare at the beautiful ring he had given her. She was his sun. The ring was definitely custom made and she knew how long those types of pieces could take. He must have been planning this for some time. “Hey babe?”

“Hm?”

“I love you.”

“I love you more, baby girl.”
