Ten: Trigger

After I sent Alanis to the bar, I followed my brothers out to the gate with a screaming Megan in tow. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” What in the hell did I ever see in her? Her voice is irritating to no end. “Eliot!” I don’t know how many times I’ve got to tell her not to call me Eliot. She lost that right twelve years ago. I stop in my tracks, bringing her to a halt with the arm I have in my grip.

“I have told you over and over again not to call me that. You lost that right twelve years ago. You lost that right the day you decided to play fucking dead. You lost that damn right the minute you decided to hide my son from me. As for what the fuck I’m doing. I’m sending your conniving, lying bitch ass home. Thought you could pull a fast one on us? You know, you tried to kill a MC President. Do you know what that means?” I question.

“No? Let me enlighten you. It means you’re dead.” I should feel worse about it, but after all that I’ve learned over the last twenty-four hours, I don’t feel a damn thing. “I’d say it was a pleasure seeing you again, but that would be a lie. Have fun with Venom. I mean, you have been dating longer than twelve years, with you being with him while we were together.” Her face drains of its color, her mouth is opening and closing as she tries to find a way out of this. “That’s right, I know everything. Just like I said I did inside.”

“He’s pulling up now brother.” Doc says.

“Eliot please! Don’t do this. We have a son together. We have something between us. You can’t deny it! I can get over your little episode in the clubhouse. Hell, you can keep her on the side, just please don’t do this!” She flounders as we make our way towards the gate.

“There is nothing between us. There once was, but you were a cheating cunt. We do have a son together and I’ll make sure he gets the best care possible. I’ll make sure he’s well taken care of. Something that you, his mother, couldn’t do for him. I’ll be sure he’s set for the rest of his life. You don’t need to worry about my son.” When we make it to the gate, Venom and three of his men are waiting for us. “I hope all this was worth it.”

“Please. Eliot. I love you. Think of Morgan. Think of us.” She pleads.

“Well, if it isn’t my backstabbing wife. Next time you try to kill someone, make sure they’re dead. Better yet, don’t hit them in the head with the gun, fucking shoot the damn thing.” Venom says. “Thanks Breaker. I’ll take her off your hands. She’s got some sins to repent for. Better start praying sweetheart because you’re about to meet your maker.” I throw Megan into Venom’s arms and turn my back, heading into the clubhouse. There’s an accountant in there that I find breaking my walls down even more than my kid already did. I just met her and yet, I know she’s going to be my downfall. The question is, do I fight it, or save myself from possible lost time and just dive in with both feet? Fuck me. I don’t know what to do. I guess all I can do is take it one day at a time.

I hear the roar of bikes riding off as I enter the clubhouse. I walk over to the bar where Alanis and Aliana are talking. I walk up and hear them talking about her daughter and how Hannah just gave birth. We got home late last night from visiting with the new parents and doting over the new little girl that’s going to cause us to have to up our gun supply by the time she starts dating. She looks just like her mom. Blond hair, so blond you can’t see it unless you’re up close to her. She has Jackson’s green eyes and his nose. Other than that, she’s just like her mama. She’s going to be a heartbreaker. I’m pretty sure Jackson is already having a bigger gun safe installed in their house. Breaking from my thoughts, I have Alanis follow me to the conference room so we can wait for the rest of the guys and go over her job.

“The others should be here in a few minutes. We had some club business to attend to.” I tell her as we enter the conference room. The clubhouse has around thirty bedrooms, a massive kitchen, the room we hold church in and this conference room. We have a few offices. Mainly for the Pres, VP, Secretary, and Treasurer. We also have an office for Alanis to use if she chooses to. We have the main room, family room, and a few bathrooms that aren’t attached to the bedrooms. “So, tell me about yourself.”

“Well, I’m thirty, I have a daughter who is fifteen. She just started her sophomore year before we moved here. I took this job because it was the first one that was offered to me since I got my degree. Before moving here, I was working at a diner and a convenience store. I needed to make sure my daughter had everything that she needed. She plays sports and that stuff doesn’t come cheap. I would do anything for my daughter. I have since I was fifteen and her dad humiliated me, and my parents abandoned me.” I can see she’s strong. I knew she was before she even started talking, but hearing her talk about what she’s been through, just proves my point. She’s an independent woman and cares deeply for her daughter.

“I just found out yesterday that I have a twelve-year-old son. I thought his mother was dead for the last twelve years. Turns out, she was only an hour away this whole time. Thought she was the love of my life. I was going to ask her to marry me right after graduation, but instead I found a letter stating that she had been killed. I died that day and my son managed to break some of the walls that I’ve managed to build over the years in a matter of a few hours.” I’m not sure why I’m telling her all this, but it seems natural to talk to her. Like I’ve done it my entire life and not just the past five minutes.

“What a twat.” She says. I’m shocked at first but burst out laughing shortly after. “When I found out I was pregnant with Posey, I went to tell my ex and he decided to humiliate me in the middle of the cafeteria. Claimed that I cheated and tried to pawn the child on him because I knew he was going to make it big in the NFL. My parents disowned me because they believed the lies that he spewed. They said that they couldn’t have a daughter tainting the family name like I had done. There were other words mixed in there, but none that are wise to repeat. So, I’ve been doing things on my own ever since. I finished high school with the help of the people that owned the diner I worked at. They would keep Posey while I went to school. Then again when I was working my butt off to get enough money for college courses. It took me a lot longer than normal to get my degree, but I was working two full-time jobs while raising my daughter. In the end, I got my degree and now I’m here.”

“Not many people can do what you did at a young age.” She startles at the sound of Westyn’s voice. She didn’t know they had made their way into the room, but I saw them come in when she first started speaking. It pisses me off that her ex and parents did that. I’m not sure what to make of these feelings that she’s causing to come arise in my body, and I’m not sure I want to make sense of them right now. I’ve got too much shit on my plate with trying to get my son settled and comfortable. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that this woman has captured my attention.

“I didn’t hear you guys come in. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to blabber on like that. I normally keep to myself. I don’t like to talk about my past because that’s where it should stay. I’ve done what I thought was right with raising my daughter and I believe that I’ve done a great job. It’s another reason why I took this job.” She explains.

“What do you mean?” Axyl asks as the rest of the brothers take a seat.

“I mean, I’ll make more working this job than I was making at the diner and store combined. Posey will be getting her license in December and she’ll need her own car. She can’t take the test in my beater. She plays softball and volleyball. She needs new equipment for both this year. I’d also like to be able to put more in savings for her college. This job will allow me to do all those things.” She explains.

“So, you’re going to get her a new car while you drive around a beater with a heater?” I question. “Why not get yourself a new car and give her the old one?”

“She deserves it. I made a deal with her when she got her learners permit that if she kept up with her straight A’s and doing well in sports, I’d get her a car of her choice. I want to give my daughter everything she wants. I want her to flourish. I want better for her than I had. I’ll get myself a new car later on down the line. Mine works exceptionally well for being older than I am.” She says. I admire this woman. Going without just so her daughter can have whatever her heart desires. She’s a hell of a better mother than Megan. That’s for damn sure.

“That’s very admirable of you. I have five kids and, soon to be six, so when they get older, they’re working for their vehicle. If I were to promise my kids a car for keeping their grades up and doing well in whatever they were doing, I’d be broke by the time the last one was out of diapers.” Axyl jokes, earning a laugh from Alanis.

“Well, I would be the same way if I had that many children.” She says. Her laugh is something I could listen to for the rest of my life. Her smile lights up the room, and I may or may not be drooling. I try, and fail, to wipe the corners of my mouth unnoticed. Doc catches my eye and winks at me. Asshole. It’s not my fault she’s fucking amazing. She’s selfless, and beautiful, smart, and her fucking laugh could get me off by itself. I want to know everything about her.

“Alright, I’m sure you’re ready to get to work so let’s get this over with.” Westyn says. Snoopy hands her a stack of papers. “I just need you to fill these out. It’s for your background check, references, tax information, and the other typical stuff that comes with new hires. I do have one question that I need you to be completely honest on.” Westyn looks into Alanis’s eyes, and she gives him a nod before she starts to work on the stack of papers. “Are your ex or parents going to be a problem? As soon as you accepted that job offer, you and your daughter became family to the BAMC. I want to know if anything is going to come to our doorstep before it happens.” Alanis stills and starts worrying her lip between her teeth, causing my cock to jump in my jeans. Fuck I need to get laid. Maybe she’ll be up for a round or two when I show her where her office is.

“Sweetheart, you can tell us. We’re not going to take the job away. We’ve recently had issues with two of our ol’ ladies and didn’t have a warning with either of those. We just want the truth.” Axyl says.

“Last week my parents were outside my job. I haven’t seen them since they kicked me out, so I was surprised to see them. They may be a problem, but only for me. They want me to do what I was born for and marry one of their associates. They said that they’d make sure that Posey was sent into the system and buried deep enough to never be found.” She says and my blood roars through my veins. No one is going to take my woman away. My woman? Where in the hell did that come from? I guess my mind made itself up without my knowledge.

“No one will get to you babe. Trust me on that.” I grind out through clenched teeth, taking her and everyone by surprise. It’s not long before my brothers get knowing smiles on their faces. Fucking pricks. She nods and gets back to work. “When you finish with the paperwork, I’ll show you to your office.”

“You’ll be making thirty-two dollars an hour. You’ll be doing the books for here, our repair shop, tattoo parlor, and our safe haven, along with any other businesses we open in the future. All the books will be brought to you here, unless you choose to go get them. You could have an office at any of the buildings, but the office here will be larger and more comfortable. Posey can just ride here with one of the moms that pick the kids up from school. You’ll have Saturday’s and Sunday’s off. We have a weekly dinner here at the clubhouse. It’s normally on Sundays, but when there is a run that runs into the weekend, we have it earlier. My mom called my dad and informed us that you agreed to come tonight. Welcome to the family. If you need anything find a brother with a patch. They’ll point you in the right direction.” With that, everyone leaves the room except for Alanis and me.

It doesn’t take her long to finish the paperwork and hand it to me. I follow her out and show her to the hallway that leads to the offices. “This is Snoopy’s office. He’s the Secretary and our computer nerd. He’ll do your background check. I’m just going to give him this.” I open the door to see Snoopy getting his cock sucked by one of the club girls. That’s what I get for not knocking. I hear a gasp from behind me and turn to see a red-faced Alanis behind me. I notice her squeezing her thighs together as she bites her lip. Seems my little minx likes watching. I throw the pile on his desk and lead her towards her office.

Once we’re behind the closed door of her office, my lips are on hers. Breaking away after we’re breathless, I nip down her jaw. “Did you like what you saw baby girl? You should know, I don’t share what’s mine.”

“Eliot.” Comes out in a breathless whisper. “I-I’m not yours.” I chuckle, bringing one hand to rest on her hip and the other to cup her full breast.

“Oh, baby girl, that’s where you’re wrong. You are mine. I’m claiming you as mine. I’ll wait until you’re ready, but make no mistake, you are my ol’ lady.” Before she can reply, my lips are back on hers in a deep and passionate kiss.
