I LIKE YOU

Chapter 6

Hadleigh hasn't been the type to completely open up about herself because of what she does. Her job doesn't require a full disclosure. The less you talk about it the better or don't talk about it at all because it might endanger everyone involved.

For the first time in a long time she has met a man that cares and challenges her, that's why she started liking him so much. So, disclosing her occupation will result in losing him for sure.

She looked up at him and thought about telling him everything, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She thought about the mistake she made by telling her last partner everything and he almost put her life and the people she works with in danger. Things were just messy and she had to eliminate the threat, which was something she never wanted to do.

She didn't want to experience the same thing with Zyair. A part of her felt like she knew that he wouldn't do what her last partner did but she was skeptical. So she thought about taking another route to see if he'll take the bait. It was safer this way for everyone.

She softly replied, hesitantly. "I own this shooting range. That's why we didn't need to present a pass, it's because... I'm the owner." She said truthfully. He let go of her and looked at her intently. She thought to herself that maybe she made a mistake by telling him.

"This is all yours?" He asked curiously and she nodded. "Wow... that means you're doing good for yourself. So you're putting on this shield because you're independent, right? You don't want to let me in because it makes you feel vulnerable and I can see that you're someone who doesn't like to be exposed to anything that makes you feel vulnerable, but that's okay. You're human too Hadleigh, you don't have to shield yourself when it comes to me. I'll never judge or anything like that."

She softly replied with a faint sigh, "You don't know that."

"I know myself enough to know that I'm the last person to be judging you or anybody else for that matter. That's just me anyway. Let me tell you something about myself. I had nothing growing up. Literally nothing... but I still managed to work hard and find a means to live. So you see, I'm the last person to be judging or looking at what you have or what you don't have." He said.

"I see.." She sighed a deep breath.

"Yeah, so I'm glad you told me something about yourself today. It wasn't that hard, right?" He asked and she nodded. "I'm proud of you, I still can't believe this is your place. You did good for yourself." He complemented her.

"You're the first person to actually complement me genuinely. Thank you." She smiled.

"Did you think I'll be weird and think you're loaded just to use you for your money?" He asked.

"I actually did." She said chuckling.

"Well you don't need to worry about that because we're good." He said.

"So, can we get to this?" She asked.

"Sure... please show me how to do this so I can get a piggy bank ride out of here." He joked making her laugh.

They put on their protective ear plugs.
For the next 30 minutes Hadleigh showed him how to aim and shoot. He got the hang of it but not completely. He still needed to practice if he wanted to become perfect at it, but for now the basics were good. They took out their ear plugs after practise.

"So, are you ready to lose?" She asked.

"Well this game was never fair to me in the first place. You just want to get me naked." He said chuckling.

"Now you get it? You're so slow hey." She said with a grin on her face.

"You could've just asked me to strip for you, unlike bringing me all the way here." He said.

"Would you have done it?" She asked.

"If you convinced me enough, maybe, just maybe I would've done it for you. He teased.

"Well I'm about to receive my wish." She grinned at him.

"Well, I'll start." He said and they put back their ear plugs. He missed on his first shot.

"Don't worry, you have an extra shot." She said to him. He concentrated on the picture in front of him and zoned everything else out and aimed. The next shot was perfect, he didn't miss. She clapped her hands for him.

"That was a perfect shot even for a rookie." She said.

"I guess I'm getting the hang of it." He hinted.

"My turn." She took the gun she prepared and closed her eyes, aiming at the picture and she cleared her mind. She made the calculation of the picture she was aiming.

"Hadleigh what are you doing?" He asked after seeing her close eyes.

"Shhhh." She hushed him.

She thought about one of the people that hurt someone she loved and she made her shot and hit the bullseye, right between the eyes of that person like she imagined.

"Holy cow!" Zyair exclaimed!

She opened her eyes and smiled because in her mind that bad person was solved. She brought the gun close to her lips and blew air at it in victory.

"You really are good at this." He said.

They went at it for a while and Zyair missed a few times already and his shirt, pants and shoes were off.

"Shooting range has never been this good." She said starring at his upper toned body.

"You really need to stop hey. It's your turn." He felt exposed. Well he was exposed but she made him feel worse.

She bit her lower lip, staring and longing while she looked at his body. "I can't concentrate anymore."

Zyair had a great body even though he wasn't going to the gym or doing any exercises. Some people are just blessed with great bodies.

He was amused by her little reaction. "Hadleigh, seriously you need to go, it's your turn to shoot."

"I don't think I can even breathe." She lustfully stated out biting her lower lip.

"Wow this game is over hey." He laughed a low chuckle. He picked up his pants on the floor.

"Can I pay you to take off the last garment on your body?" She grinned.

"You need to find yourself a pet to play with. I'm not your Guinea pig." He said in a low sexy laugh.

"I wish you were. I just want to hang you on my wall and look at you every time I walk past my wall."

He didn't say anything, he just started putting on the rest of his clothes with a faint laugh. Hadleigh called one of her employees to come and pack all these. They left the shooting range with her on Zyair's back. Since she won, she got the piggy bank ride. Everyone was looking at them weirdly, but the pair didn't even notice because they were being silly and cheerful to care.

"I'm pretty sure everyone is gawking at you because they can't believe that the owner of his place is on someone's else's back." He said while she was still on his back.

"None of the members of my shooting range know that I'm the owner. Just my employees and my shareholders know who I am. I prefer to keep it that way." She explained.

"Ohh I get it. You have a good business ethic. Maybe you can help me draft a business plan. I have something in mind that I want to carry out for my children." He said to him.

"I'd love to help you. Just let me know when you're ready to do it." She said and they arrived at her car.

She carefully got off his back with a huge smile planted on her face.

"Was it that good?" He asked.

"It was...fun. I haven't felt this way in like forever." She said thinking back to her life.

He was familiar with that feeling after his late wife passed, but he had fun with his twins. They brought a smile to his face on a daily basis.

"Well I'm glad you had fun with me today." He said.

"Zyair... something is changing in me because of you." She suddenly said.

"What do you mean?" He cluelessly asked. She looked up at him.

"I feel more comfortable being in contact with another person after so many years. Six years ago my bestfriend was murdered in her apartment and that just broke my soul. I ended up isolating myself from everything and everyone. I never wanted anyone close to me because I felt like they'd just die at my hands and I won't be able to do anything about it but ever since you walked into my life something has changed. I feel comfortable being in your presence. I feel at ease and not worried about what will happen." She explained and those words made him happy.

He hugged her. "You have no idea how good it feels to hear that you're comfortable being around me." He said holding her tighter.

"I like you." She suddenly said. He unhooked his arms around her.

"Did you just say you like me?" He was surprised.

"Yeah I do. I really like you." She smiled.

"I need to record that. Please say it again." He said taking out his phone.

"Too late." She giggled and walked to her car, getting inside and closed the door.

"Hadleigh, you can't do this to me." He said knocking on her window.

"You need to get inside the car before I leave your ass behind." She said to him and she breathed on her window drawing a mini heart on it and his eyes went wide. He quickly came to the passenger side and got inside the car.

"You can't throw all this things at me and not expect me to react." He said to her.

She just laughed driving out of her private parking space and drove out of here. She wanted to take him to one of her favorite places but time wasn't on their side because they had to go pick up the twins. They did that and went home. She was going to stay for dinner until she got a text that forced her to leave.

"Are you sure you can't stay over for dinner even for an hour?" Zyair asked her after walking her out.

"I would love to, but I can't. I promise to make it up to you and the twins. Please take care of yourself and them." She said to him.

"I will. Take care too." He said and she walked away. She suddenly came back and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"If I don't come back, just know that my days with you were the best I've ever had." She suddenly said and those uneasy words worried him.

"You're not telling me that you're not coming back right?" He asked but she just kissed his cheek and quickly jogged to her car. She got inside and drove off, leaving him hanging.
