Chapter 1 ~ where’s dad?
I wake up to silence. I normally here dad arguing with his boyfriend, Sam, over what they are having for breakfast. But, this morning was different. I look at my phone. I see a white box on my phone, it read:
Dad
Hi honey sorry but I am not going to be at home for a while. Me and Sam had to go on a surprise business trip and decided it’s probably the best we did not wake you up to tell you. I don’t know when I will be back but I’ll tell you when we’re coming home. Love you lots Dad xx
Well, I did not expect that but at least I get the whole house to myself right, I think to myself as I jump out of bed to go and get breakfast. I make my way to the kitchen but get greater by this man. He’s standing there at the oven, cooking? I take a couple more steps trying not to startle him because he obviously did not here me. I softly say, “who are you?” He swiftly turns around. “I…uh… I’m your dads friend. He invited me to stay while he’s gone.” I think to myself, “oh he’s got a nerve coming here and acting the boss of me!” I say out loud , “name?”
He replies with, “ oh I’m West and you’re…”
We both say at the same time, “Summer.” I roll my eyes and accuse him by saying, “oh so you turn up here and boss me around is that how this works!”
He exclaims, “ NO OF COURSE NOT!”
I reply with, “ ok well can you explain something?”
He says confusedly, “Depends what ur is, go on…”
I say getting even more confused, “where’s dad?”
