Chapter 64

“So my dad wants to get to know you better.” I spoke as I sat down at my desk where all my school work was laid out.

“That’s awesome! I’ll show him how great I am and then we can be together.” Dimitri exclaimed as he laid down on my bed, propping himself up on one elbow, facing me.

I picked up my pencil and started taking notes as I was before. “But Dimitri, remember this is the one chance we get. We can’t blow this up. You have to make my dad like you.” I said with a worried tone in my voice as this could end really badly if we weren’t careful.

“I understand that Izzie and I’ll be extra careful. Is there anything I should know about your dad? In fact, toss me a paper and pen, I’m going to take notes on your dad.” He spoke seriously as he got up and walked towards me.

I looked up at him with a smile, loving how seriously he was taking this. It showed how much he cared about us and how much he wanted this to work.

Dimitri suddenly wrapped his right arm around my waist and his left arm under my legs. He then proceeded to pick me up, before taking a seat in my chair. He placed me down onto his lap with his left arm wrapped around my waist. “There, now we can both sit together and work.” He said with a cute smile on his face. I grinned back at him before kissing his cheek.

Any anger and annoyance that I had previously felt for what he did to me vanished in an instant. All I could feel was love.

He grabbed a notebook and a glitter pen. He raised his eyebrows in amusement at the pen before looking at me. “I like glitter pens!” I exclaimed with a pout. He raised his hands in surrender before leaning in to kiss my pout.

He then uncapped the pen and sat poised to write. “Okay so we know your dad doesn’t like me because I hurt you. Not only that but I’ve been killing humans for quite a while now.” He spoke as he jot those things down. “Okay so how do we make him like me? Looking at this, this seems impossible. But you’ve taught me a very valuable lesson Izzie. It’s that, even the impossible is possible, if you want something hard enough. I want you pretty damn badly and so I know I can get your dad to like me.”

I smiled up at him, reaching up to stroke his jaw in a loving manner. I could feel the slight stubble on his face brushing against the skin of my hand. It felt wonderful. “So what do you say Izzie? What kind of man does your dad want for you?”

“Well, someone who’ll love me-” I started off when Dimitri interrupted me.

“Check. I love you more than anything.” He spoke causing me to smile as I continued.

“Someone who’ll keep me safe and protected from the dangers of the world.” I continued on.

“Check. I’ll protect you from everything.” He spoke as he wrote these things down, placing a little check mark beside them if he already does them.

“Someone who has my best interests at heart.” I kept speaking, thinking of all the things my dad has told me about the guy he wants me to be with.

“Check.”

I racked my brain for whatever else my dad has said. “Someone who won’t leave me heartbroken.” I said recalling what he had said earlier.

“Check.” Dimitri said placing another little check mark. “Anything else?”

“That’s about it. Oh and he wants me to be with a guy who has a good future. Someone who can provide for me essentially, but I find that a bit sexist as I can take care of myself. But whatever pleases my dad at this point, I just want to be with you.” I said watching Dimitri continue to write the list.

“Check. I’m the King, what more can your dad want for you? I can provide for you better than anyone in this universe. I can give you everything you could possibly want. And I know you just said you find it sexist and I completely get it, but I still want to take care of everything for you. I hope you’ll let me.” He said looking down at me, awaiting my answer.

“I’ll let you Dimitri, but I would like to do some things on my own.” I spoke causing him to nod his head.

“But just so you know, you honestly have nothing to ever worry about. If you need anything, I can get it for you right away.” He said setting the pen down onto the table. I smiled, lazily wrapping my arms around his neck.

“All I need is you Dimitri. That’s all. I could have nothing and have just you and be completely content.” I spoke just as I yawned.

“Looks like my little Izzie is tired. You should go to sleep now, it’s so late. It’s almost 3 Am.” He said as I yawned, shaking my head no.

“Graduation is coming soon Dimitri and so are exams. I won’t be able to graduate high school if I don’t catch up and do all these assignments. I’ve missed so many lessons and tests, I need to make up for them. I have to teach myself everything before exams or else I’ll have to redo the twelfth grade which I’d rather not.” I spoke as I brought my Chemistry textbook close to me. I had Chemistry, English and Psychology to go through. I was very glad I had taken a spare so I only had three classes instead of four to study for.

“If you need me to do any assignment for you, I will. You seriously need to sleep, you have to wake up at 6 Am for school.” Dimitri said in a scolding tone.

“Okay Dad.” I spoke sarcastically as I ignored him and continued to work.

“You mean Daddy.” Dimitri said and I immediately turned to look up at him, noticing a smirk on his face.

“You did not just say that!” I exclaimed and he just grinned at me.

“I thought you were doing your work.” He said causing me to shake my head and turn back to my work. “By the way, I’m actually serious, I can do an assignment or two for you so you have more time to study.”

“That’ll count as plagiarism though.” I yawned some more, flipping the page of my textbook.

“So... No one but you and I will know. And Izzie, please go to sleep. You’ll only get less than three hours of sleep if you don’t go to sleep right now.” He said stroking my back gently.

“After half an hour more of studying, I’ll sleep. I promise.” I said as I leaned my head back against his chest.

“Fine.” He sighed as he started playing with my hair. He sat quietly as I studied. I honestly kept getting distracted with how good it felt having him play with my hair. It was amazing, and I was starting to get really sleepy. I could feel my eyes drooping shut as I tried really hard to keep them open.

At one point I think I fell asleep and then awoke when Dimitri started carrying me to my bed. “Dimitri.” I sleepily whispered his name.

“Shh Sweetheart. Go to sleep.” He spoke in a soft, soothing voice.

“I didn’t brush my teeth, wash my makeup off or change my clothes.” I spoke sleepily.

“It’s okay Izzie. Just go to sleep. And if your clothes are uncomfortable, I can help you change them. Would you like that?” He asked and I slowly nodded my head. I half understood what he said and half didn’t as I was so sleepy.

I heard him open my drawer and sift through my clothes. He then came and sat down beside me on my bed. I felt him gently pull my shirt up over me and I lifted my arms helping him remove it. He then removed my leggings. “Do you want me to remove your bra and underwear too? I doubt you like sleeping in them.” He asked and I nodded my head, my eyes still closed.

I felt him reach behind me and unclasp my bra, sliding the straps off my shoulders before removing it. He then slid my underwear down my legs and took it off too. I felt cold suddenly and shivered, feeling goosebumps on my skin. I felt Dimitri run his hand over my bare thigh feeling my goosebumps. He then quickly grabbed my my pj bottoms and slid them on me, covering me from the cold. He then helped me into the shirt, buttoning it up for me, his warm hands brushing against my skin, sending wonderful shivers through my body.

“Dimitri, I hate going to sleep with my makeup on. Can you hand me a makeup wipe?” I asked and he chuckled.

“Yes my Queen.” He spoke mockingly.

“Stop making fun of me.” I complained in my sleep causing him to chuckle in amusement.

“I’m not making fun of you.” He spoke softly. I expected him to give me the makeup wipe but instead he gently rubbed my makeup off for me.

“Thanks Dimitri.” I spoke once he was done.

“You’ve turned me into your slave, haven’t you?” He said teasing me.

“I’m sorry.” I spoke causing him to chuckle before pulling the blanket up over me, tucking me in.

“I have to leave now Sweetheart. I’m not staying the night today.” He spoke causing me to reach out and grab his hand. I opened my eyes finally to stare up into his glowing red ones.

“Please stay.” I spoke softly causing Dimitri to lean down and kiss my lips.

“I’m sorry Izzie but not today. I’ll stay tomorrow, I promise.” He said causing me to pout. He leaned down and kissed me again on my lips before pressing another kiss on my forehead. “I love you Izzie and don’t forget to meet me in our dreams.” He whispered before leaving.

“I love you too.” I whispered after he had left, before slipping into a deep slumber.

“You’re right Isabella, I don’t love you anymore.” His words cut my heart like a sharp knife.

“You promised me you’d never break my heart!” I exclaimed as I held back my tears. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry.

“I don’t give two fucks for people who don’t care about me!” He roared in anger suddenly. “I don’t keep promises to people who break my heart! Have you ever thought of that? That you could have broken my heart!”

“Dimitri, I didn’t mean to hurt you! I’m sorry!” I cried but all I saw was disgust in his eyes for me. Why was he so disgusted? I was confused suddenly. I did nothing for him to be disgusted by me. Maybe angry, but not disgusted. I suddenly felt like there was something more to this then what happened earlier.

“You’re not sorry at all. You never loved me Isabella. You never truly did. You only want me because I’m the supposedly scary Demon King who’s fallen in love with an ordinary human girl. Sounds like those stupid paranormal romances girls love to read. You romanticized me so much that you don’t actually love me? You just love the idea of being with me! I mean who wouldn’t want a King as there boyfriend? Am I right Isabella?” He yelled in anger and I shook my head no. Tears spilled from my eyes at what he was saying.

I fucked up badly. Really badly. But I didn’t understand why he was making such a big deal. I didn’t think he’d think I didn’t love him anymore. I never thought that would happen.

No, Dimitri couldn’t simply base this on our stupid argument. There was something way bigger than this, but what?
