Michael was out along with some friends at a restaurant dining. When he observed Nina walking in. She was looking gorgeously dressed in an elegant outfit.
The restaurant was partially empty but pleasantly cool as the gentle winds floated through the air. It lifted Nina’s soft lustrous hair, resetting them gently on her shoulder. She had dressed another one of her favorite’s designer outfits. As soon as she entered the building. She was assisted to a table in a quiet area of the restaurant. As she studied the menu in the dim light, puzzled at the unfamiliar names, she heard.
“All alone tonight?” The deep rich tone came from behind. Nina jumped.
“Damn it, why did he have to creep up on me?” she thought.
She turned around and managed a credible smile.
“Yes, sometimes it makes a nice change.” This implied that she sometimes does dine by herself. His brow rose a bit. Then he responded.
“I’m very sure you have your choice of a number of suitable partners, all in line ready to join you, Miss Curtis.”
He pulled out the chair opposite hers and sat down. “You may not mind dining alone but I hate it. Do you mind if I join you?’
“You already have,” she pointed out dryly.
He smiled instantly, and she thought that he looked incredibly handsome, her pulse began to race as she looked at the man sitting next to her.
“What do you want Michael?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“Michael, seriously?” He smiled.
“Don’t tell me, you’re not even a tiny bit interested?” he said, amusement in his voice. Nina fidgeted uncomfortably, unable to deny his assumption. He smiled softly.
“You know I find you very attractive Nina and I thought you would feel the same way but it seemed I was assuming too much, but was I really?” he asked insistently.
She held her head up and met his gaze. “I honestly don’t know.”
“Should I take it then that there is a possibility, you’re attractive to me?” he pressed.
Nina felt a bit uncomfortable, she bit down on her lips nervously. and spoke.
“Yes Michael. I do find you attractive but so would any woman. You are a very handsome man. Are you satisfied?” She blurted out.
“But you’re not just any woman, am I not right Nina?” She frowned.
“Are you still not satisfied Michael? Are you still hoping?” she asked in an ironic way, Michael’s mouth twisted into an enchanting smile that sends butterflies to Nina’s stomach.
“What do you think of Nina? By the way I love that lipstick shade you are wearing; it makes your smile even more captivating.
“She dashed him an ear-to-ear smile.”
Michaels raised his glass to her and whispered softly “You’re welcome my love.”
The waiter came over to take their order, he left and shortly after he returned and served them. They ate quietly and after they were completed. Michael was the first to speak.
“Can we walk a bit?” he asked with a touch of uncharacteristic uncertainty, which surprised her.
“It’s a beautiful evening, it would be a pity to waste it.” Nina was surprised to hear herself complying.
“A walk sounds perfect.” Did those words really come from her, she wondered?
“Absolutely, my dear let’s go.”
Immediately after exiting the building. The both of them walked towards a garden they had observed at the corner of the building earlier. On reaching, they pushed open the old iron gate and stepped inside.
They sat down on a small stone bench facing a lovely marvel fountain. They watched it quietly pouring out its crystal-clear water as it slowly filled the basin. they could hear the sound of birds chirping, the tinkling of wind chimes, and scent the delightful fragrance of the flowers as it wafted through the summer air. They loved the calmness, it felt good.
The garden was full of beautiful flowers, a row of roses on one side and a row of seasonal flowers on the other side. There was hibiscus, sunflowers, lilies and many more. They felt as if they were in a private little world of quiet peaceful serenity. He touched her face with surprising gentleness.
“You are so lovely.” Her eyes flew to him questioningly. he gazed steadily at her until she was forced to look away.
. “I have to go, it’s getting late.” she whispered.
“Ok, if you insist.” he said.
They walked back to their car and he stood for a while reluctant to leave. He waited until Nina opened her car door and slipped in the driver’s seat and as she put the vehicle into drive, he uttered.
“Drive carefully.” Nina glanced at him with a smile and then drove off. He watched her until she disappeared out of sight.
When Nina got home Lisa was waiting on her.
“Well, how did your dinner alone go?” she asked.
Nina responded thoughtfully, “Michael Charles showed up there.”
“What did you just say?” Lisa asked
“Yes, you heard me correctly. My dinner alone was cancelled.”
“Honestly I think that man is truly crazy about you. Nina”
“A little bit too much I think.”
“They say you’re not to judge a book by its cover give him a try he might be very well serious about you”
“Really Lisa? men like Michael are never serious.”
“Sometimes they do but if I were you, I would think about his proposal.”
“Lisa seriously? I can’t believe you, of all people, are really encouraging me to do something like that.”
“Nina, that’s a very good opportunity. The man is offering you gold on a platter, take it you don’t have to be in love with him. As a matter of fact, I clearly don’t remember you telling me that you falling in love with him was a part of the deal, did he mention that? of course not.”
’ If I didn’t know better, I would swear you’ve gone crazy girl, but since you put it that way. I can only promise you I’ll think about it.”
“At least, please do my friend, who knows he might very well, your knight in shining armor, sleep on it, I’m leaving, I’ve an early appointment tomorrow. Goodnight.”
“Good night, Lisa.”
