Chapter 21

“Where?” I asked.

It was getting dark. In few hours it will be night. He looked at me in a stern look. I walked upstairs to my room without any word. After 20 minutes I changed my outfit.

I walked downstairs to see him changed as well into a black hoodie that covered his face. We silently got in the car. He drove off again at high speed. I didn’t know what was wrong with him? He never drove this speed limit when I was in the car.

“Umm. Blake slows down please” I exclaimed.

“Blake... Blake” I said to him while patting his arm.

He looked at my face. His gray eyes were filled with sadness. I looked closer to see tears were flowing as well. He pulled the car over to the side of the road.

I couldn’t do anything. I slowly side hugged him. He immediately turned and hugged me back.

“They are gone,” he said continuously.

“It is ok,” I said while patting his arm.

I didn’t know what to say or do. He kept his face in the crook of my neck. He pulled back and started to drive.

“They are gone,” he said one last time and sighed.

We drove for another 20 minutes. We reached a place. There was a house near a lake. The house was perfect. The lake flowed and it was very calm.

“This is my nana’s house,” he said.

I didn’t reply. I just kept thinking about what to do. In the first place, why did he bring me here?

“Come on,” he said while opening the door.

I walked in to see the most beautiful home I have ever seen. The house wall was painted in cream and it was so cozy. There were random paintings hung beside some family photos. Everything here screamed “Perfect and comfy”.

“Very beautiful” I commented.

“Hmm... my family used to be here with my nana but..” he said and his voice stopped.

I understood the situation he was in..... well, I guess I did.

“No need to tell,” I said while blinking twice.

He nodded and took a deep breath.

“It is just so fucking hard to be the fucking elder brother of a family,” he said while grabbing his hair and pulling it.

“You are doing great as a brother. You give them food. You take care of them. You have a roof over your head. You are doing actually great,” I said.

He looked at me pressing what I am saying to him. I saw a small smile appearing on his face and he became relaxed. I was quite happy that he was relaxed and for the first time in my world, I felt something twist in my stomach as knot as I saw his smile.

I didn’t know what it is but I felt it is something special! He cleared his throat and normal emotionless Blake appeared again.

“We have to get back again,” he said.

I nodded and took a deep breath. While I was going my eye caught up with something that was familiar. The knife. With the arrow symbol. I looked closely at it.

It was the same type of knife that Landon used to cut my thighs. Memories flowed back.

“Stay still you fucking idiot” he shouted.

“Please” I pleaded. He laughed humorously.

“Your pathetic father had to work till he paid me back for the loss” he shouted.

My father uses to be the driver of bringing or taking drugs across the country. But once my father being the stupidest man as always thought of taking the drugs somewhere else to make a profit himself.

“You are my payback actually. Did you know that I own you?” Landon asked.

“What?!” I shouted.

He laughed again and brought the knife. Without any second he had his name carved in my thighs.

“Audrey!Audrey!” I heard someone yelling.

“What the hell are you doing? Are you crazy? What if you got hurt or cut?” Blake shouted.

I looked at myself. I was touching the knife and I saw I had almost touched the blade and had turned it to my chest. ' How...' I was speechless. How did Landon’s knife get here? Are Blake and Seth and all drug leaders? No way!

“Sit down” he ordered.

I sat on a chair and silently cried. But my tears were unstoppable.

“Shhh it’s alright,” Blake said while patting my back.

My tears slowly calmed down. By the end of time, I was curled on the couch where I had my head on Blake’s lap and my legs hugged to myself.

“Let’s go back,” he said. I nodded.

“Can I ask you a question please?” I asked him with a hoarse voice.

“Um. Sure,” he said as his body tensed.

“Is this a special knife?” He looked at me.

He was shocked by my question and I guess he didn’t expect to see it coming.

“No a random knife,” he said trying to say it casually as always.

I looked into his eyes directly. His eyes were filled with worry but he managed to cover it up by acting confidently.

“Let’s go back,” he said.

I nodded and cut of my suspicion. As I walked towards the car my eyes caught up with the beautiful scenery next to the house which I didn’t see before.

Maybe because of stressing out what to do with Blake. A lake. It was similar to that is in the movie After.

“Wow,” I whispered.

“Yes, I know. Beautiful” Blake said appearing from behind. My mind raced at thoughts.

What is the lake beautiful or something else? My cheeks heat up as I looked into different thoughts.

“This place is just like the place in After movie,” I said.

“Hmm yeah ... have you ever watched that movie? I have watched it halfway” he said.

“Umm.. nope I really haven’t,” I said.

“Can I ask why? Cause every girl that I speak to has really watched it. It is kind on the main hot movies in girl’s movie set” he said casually.

“Maybe other girls. I don’t even have a movie set” I said remembering the incident that happened when I was only six.

My mother brought me the “Beauty and the Beast” movie. I was happy that I watched it all day. But that same night, the person who I have to call “father” took the movie and broke it. He was so angry that he couldn’t see his daily show. From that day onwards I never had watched a movie except to the trailers that I looked at from Emma’s phone. My best friend was killed by Landon as well.

“You look in deep in thought,” Blake said. “Yeah, all I can do is think,” I said.

I sighed and walked towards the car.

Any thoughts about this chapter?

Did you see it coming? Blake being a human for once with emotions...
