Chapter 17: Can’t do this anymore – Part 1/3

Damon POV:

After dropping Amelia off at Trevor’s, I went to my office and called for Luca to come up. We needed to figure out our next move against the hunters. As I sat down at my desk, a knock sounded at the door. “Come in.” I bellowed out.

Luca walked in with a bit of extra pep in his step, and I wrinkled my nose at his odd behaviour. Then, finally, he smiled mischievously. “What the fuck are you smiling about?” I asked him.

He pursed his lips. “Oh nothing, how’s Amelia?” He inquired.

I narrowed my eyes and scowled at him. “I’m warning you, Luca, choose your words carefully,” I ground out, not in the mood for his bullshit.

He snorted. “Touchy, Touchy. I was just curious how things were going.” He replied.

I exhaled heavily. “Yea, well, my wolf is driving me fucking insane. So, yes, I am a bit on edge. Also, I didn’t call you here to talk about Amelia. We need to discuss things regarding the hunters.”

His jaw became rigid. “Yes, you are right. I thought to myself earlier that maybe it is time to speak to the hunters in the dungeons. They may give us something if persuaded enough.” He grinned, and I had to agree.

I nodded my head. “Yes, I think that is a good idea.” I stood from my chair and rounded my desk. “Let’s go pay them a little visit.”

Luca and I exited my office, making our way towards the dungeons. We walked in and descended the stairs. I had never liked coming down here; it was cold and dark. As we walked through the halls, the rogue we had captured suddenly lunged at the cell bars. His arms extended out as he swiped at me.

I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to glare at him. I reached up, and my hand wrapped around his throat as I bashed his face against the bars. “Well, aren’t you fucking brave,” I said through gritted teeth.

He let a strangled snarl, “I smell her on you, and once I get out of here, I’m going to shred her into pieces tearing her apart as you watch.” He grinned.

All I saw was red, and my body began to shake at the thought of this piece of shit touching my mate. All rational thinking went out the window as I snapped his neck, feeling his bones break. I let go of him and watched as his body dropped to the floor.

I stared at his lifeless body for a beat, then continued walking down the hall. Luca reluctantly followed me, keeping a safe distance from me, which was probably for the best. We walked to the end of the corridor and approached the cell on our left. The hunters were sitting there, side by side, glaring at Luca and me.

The male stood proudly, not showing any fear. “If you aren’t going to release us, then you might as well kill us. We won’t give you anything.”

My chest rose and fell heavily, becoming frustrated with everything and everyone today. I grinned, bearing my canines. “Oh, I’m not going to kill you; that would be too easy. Instead, I’m going to torture that pretty little wife of yours, forcing you to watch every ounce of pain I inflict upon her until you finally cave and give me what I want. One way or another, I always get what I want.” I threatened.

His face fell as the severity of my words sunk in. The male hunter glanced down at the woman’s face, who maintained a neutral expression. They seemed to be communicating as they stared at each other.

I banged my hand against the cold cell bars. “Well, I’m waiting!” I said impatiently.

The man let out an exhausted sigh before turning back to me. He opened his mouth to reply, but before he could even get a word out, the main door to the dungeons opened with a bang, grabbing everyone’s attention.

My head whipped to the stairs, and Samantha was now stomping her way towards me, fury etched on her features. I rolled my eyes and groaned, wondering what the fuck was her problem now. Especially when I had more important things to deal with at the moment.

She stopped a few feet from me, glaring at me. “Damon, why the fuck is she still here?” She demanded to know.

I walked over to her and gripped her arm tightly before dragging her out of the dungeons. Once we were away from everyone, I turned her to face me. “In case you have forgotten, little sister, I am the Alpha. Therefore, you will not speak to me in such a way, and you will not demand things of me. Not only that, it is none of your concern why she is still here.” I growled out, grinding my teeth as I tried to remain calm.

She yanked her arm from my grasp and scowled at me. “She is human, Damon and doesn’t belong here. Think of what dad will do if he finds out that a human has been residing within the pack for the past few weeks.”

My lip twitched, and I held back the snarl creeping up. “Who’s to say Amelia doesn’t belong here just because she isn’t one of us? Also, dad won’t find out, not until I’m ready to tell him everything.”

Her brows furrowed. “She is your mate isn’t she?” Sam questioned, and I looked away from her.

She scoffed, “Your such an idiot Damon. You are putting your life and hers in danger. Did you ever stop to think about that?.”

My hands clenched at my side. “Of course I fucking did. The consequences of being with Amelia have played in my mind every waking minute since I met her, but I can’t let her go. My wolf and the bond won’t let me.”

She shook her head and folded her arms across her chest. “Well, let’s hope she is smarter than you and heeded my warning.”

I froze, holding my breath with her words, “What the fuck are you talking about?”

“I saw Amelia last night and told her to leave, that she doesn’t belong here and doesn’t belong with you.”

My chest heaved, and for a split second, I saw red, furious with my sister for what she had done. I backed her into the door. “You are lucky that you are blood, or I would snap your neck here and now. You better hope she isn’t gone.” I told her.

I drove my fist through the door, fury building inside me after discovering what Samantha had said to Amelia. Samantha stood there bewildered, and I turned around, walking away from her, hearing her shout at me from behind.

I stormed into the house and dashed up the stairs. I finally reached her room and burst through the door, only to see the thing I dreaded the most.
