Roger and Keely return home with their daughter following the birth of their nephew. Keely is exhausted and Angel is sleeping in her carriage. “Can you believe that Wendy and Oliver are parents now?” Roger asked, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“I still can’t believe that we are. And she’s almost 7 months old and teething. That means she’s gonna be eating real food soon and she’s gonna start talking.” she turned around to stare up at him.
“Her first words are gonna be, mama rocks.” he whispered leaning down to kiss her.
“Oh yeah? Well typically a baby’s first word is dada. Are you gonna be OK with that?” she asked him.
“Of course I am. You’re the most important person in all of our lives.” he smiled at her.
“How about you put her in her crib and mommy and daddy go inside? I’ll make it worth your while.” she smiled up at him flirtatiously.
“Laying with you is always worth my while, Mrs. Greyson.” he smiled at her. He kissed her before going to put their daughter in her crib. He went to his bedroom and his wife was already in her pajama shirt, brushing her hair. He smiled from the doorway at the sight of Keely.
“What are you staring at?” she asked turning to look at him.
“The love of my life.” he smiled, going towards her.
“Oh yeah?” she giggled. It always made her swoon whenever he talked to her like that. He was a beautiful songwriter, so it didn’t surprise her that he had a way with words. It’s what was supporting their family, but it’s also what helped her fall so deeply in love with him.
“I love you, Keel.” he wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him.
“I love you so much, Roger, You’re the love of my life just as much as I’m yours.” she buried her face in his chest, inhaling his scent. She loved how manly he always smelled. it was more intoxicating than the alcohol when she was drinking. She kissed his chest as she breathed in his scent. Roger leaned down to pick Keely up into his arms. He placed her on the bed and began kissing her lips. He trailed kisses from her mouth, down her neck. She ran her fingers through his hair before bringing his face back back to hers and kissing his soft, hot lips.
“You are so sexy.” Roger whispered to her.
“I am a rock chick. You have a thing for rock chicks. Especially ones who can play guitar.” she giggled, leaning over to kiss his cheek.
“I have a soft spot for you, Keel. You’re my wife and you’ve given me so much.” he smiled at her.
“Make love to me, Roger.” she pleaded looking over at him.
“I was hoping to.” he whispered, lifting her shirt over her head. They removed the rest of their clothes and Roger reached into the nightstand for a condom. He placed it on himself and they made love.
The following morning they were woken up by Angel’s hungry wail. “It’s your turn, Roger.” Keely moaned turning over in the bed.
“Yes, Baby.” he laughed, getting out of bed. Putting his sweatpants and a t shirt on before shuffling out of the bedroom and to his daughter’s room. “Good morning, Princess. Sounds like you’re gonna be a rock chick like your mom.” he told her as he reached into the crib to pick his daughter up. He placed her on the changing table and changed her diaper before picking her up and bringing her to his bedroom. He put her in the bed and the baby quickly went over to her mother.
“Good morning, mommy’s beautiful Angel.” Keely moaned turning over towards her family.
“Why don’t I go out and make my girls breakfast?” Roger suggested leaning over to kiss his wife’s head.
“That sounds like you’re angling for husband of the year.” Keely joked looking up at him as she swept her daughter into her arms.
“I already got that locked. Look who my wife is.” he smiled down at her before getting up from the bed.
“That man is impossible.” she smiled at her daughter before exiting the bedroom. “You know Greyson, if you keep talking like that, I’m not gonna fare well in this marriage.” she yelled as he left the room.
“That’s the idea.” he laughed as he went to the kitchen. He took a formula bottle out of the refrigerator as well as the eggs, sausages and butter. He heated up Angel’s bottle and started Keely’s breakfast.
“Is daddy the most perfect man ever, or what?” Keely asked as she bounced her daughter on her hip.
“Get back inside. I wanted to give you breakfast in bed.” he told her looking up from the counter.
“I have to go to the bathroom and we have to start our day. I need to take a rain check on breakfast, Baby. I want to go up to see Wendy and little Marty and then I need to go to the studio to meet up with Nathan. He wanted to go over a few things for the new song.” she told him, putting her daughter in the infant carrier in the living room.
“I thought you were taking the day off. I figured you’d want to spend time with Wendy and the baby.” he looked over at her.
“Roger, I have a pile of songs waiting for me to record. The studio wants to release the album in 4 months. That means it needs to be recorded, mixed and edited. It’s gonna be close in that time frame.” she told him going to the bathroom.
“Keel, you’re gonna be able to do it and it’s gonna be OK. They wouldn’t have given us that time frame if they weren’t confident that we would be able to do it.” he called out, taking Angel’s bottle out of the boiling water and testing it on his wrist before bringing it over to his daughter.
“That’s not what I’m worried about, Roger. We need to go through the mechanics of the new song and I don’t wanna feel rushed. We have to work it out. That takes time. As my producer, I would think that you’d know that and be a little more concerned with the process.” she came out of the bathroom before going over to the sink to take her medicine.
“I have complete faith in you and the song. There’s nothing wrong with the song, you’re just being neurotic.” he looked up at her, helping Angel hold the bottle before going back into the kitchen to start making Keely’s breakfast.
“You’re only saying that because you wrote it.” she looked up at him, letting out a laugh.
“No, I’m saying it because you and Nate are gonna be great. I wouldn’t have given it to you if I wasn’t confident that you could make it work.” he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him.
“Your confidence in me is a little overwhelming.” she looked up at him.
“What does that mean?” he asked.
“I sometimes feel like you think I really can move mountains and I can’t. I’m only human. I know you guys think I’m a superhero, but I’m only a girl. There are things even I can’t do.” she looked up at him.
“Keel, I’m… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to put so much pressure on you. That wasn’t my intention. I just… I believe in you. Is that so bad? A man who believes in his wife?” he asked looking down at her.
“No Roger, it’s not so bad. I’m just saying, the song is great. But things need to be worked out for me to be able to perform it.” she told him, going over to the coffee maker where the coffee had just finished brewing.
“So work it out, Keel. It’s your song, but I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit.” he looked over at her.
“That’s the thing. You always give me too much credit. Everyone does and I can’t drop the ball. That’s why I can’t take the day off to hang out up at the hospital with Wendy and Marty. I have work to do.” she looked over at him.
“Do you want me to talk to the label and see if we can give you more time to turn out the album?” he asked looking up at her.
“No, I don’t. I want to stick to the deadline, but I can’t play around when I’m supposed to be getting this done. This is my job. I can’t be slacking off when I have a job to do. I take that seriously. I don’t want to get an extension because my husband is my producer.” she finished making her coffee.
“Fine, Keel. Have it your way.” he turned around to take his pills.
“I’m… I didn’t mean to come off like that. I’m just trying to do the best I can and not disappoint anyone. This is a huge opportunity you gave me and I don’t want to jeopardize anything and make you look bad. You give your wife this chance and it blows up in your face because she can’t hack it.” she looked up at him.
“Baby, you can hack it. I know you can. You certainly have the talent, but you also have the drive.”
“I’m sorry I’m so neurotic. I gotta stop getting in my own head.” she walked over to him, burying her face in his chest.
“That’s OK. Apparently it’s my type.” he chuckled kissing her head.
“Apparently. Um… I have to get me and Angel ready to see Wendy and Marty and then I have to drop her off with Jason so me and Nathan can work out the song.” she looked up at him.
“Why don’t you let me take Angel? She is my daughter and all.” he asked looking down at her.
“Because I need you at the studio. Someone has to bring my guitar. I can’t very well carry it as well as push the baby carriage.” she smiled up at him.
“Are you serious? You’re playing guitar?” he asked excitedly.
“Nathan and I were going over the song the other day and he mentioned that an acoustic guitar along with the piano accompaniment would sound great on this particular song. What do you think?” she asked looking over at him.
“It’s perfect, Keel. I couldn’t think of a better way for that song to be played.” he smiled picking her up into his arms.
“I thought you’d like that.” she giggled holding him tight.
“Why didn’t you say so in the first place?” he asked kissing her cheek.
“I don’t know, I mean I know how much you love when I play and I guess I wanted it to be a surprise. I knew you were gonna be crazy.” she laughed leaning her head back.
“We better get ready then. I’ll get Miss Angel ready, so you can go in the shower and stuff.” he suggested letting her down.
“I love that idea. I’ll put her clothes out and pack her bag. I know how creative you like to get.” she laughed leaning up to kiss him before going to the baby’s room.
“Hey, woman.” he called out to her.
“Yes.” she smiled, turning around.
“I love you.” he smiled at her.
“What a coincidence. I love you too.” she smiled before turning on her heel and going into the bedroom.
Roger smiled at the door before going over to his daughter and cleaning her up. He brought her into her room where his wife was moving swiftly around the room to get everything put together for their day out. Keely zipped up the bag before kissing her husband and daughter and going into the bathroom to go in the shower.
