Chapter 8

"Seira, ...Seira," I turned to look at Sella, with Liam, calling me from a nearby shop as I walked towards the home.

I smiled, waving at them as they waved back, gesturing me to come inside the grocery shop. With a sigh, I forced myself to walk to the shop as it would be rude if I don't. At least, it would take my mind off that kiss.

"Hi," I greeted them with a forced smile, trying to be nice, but in reality, I do not want to talk to anyone right now.

"Hi, Are you coming from school now? What took you so long?" Sella asked, Liam, standing behind her with a soft smile. I looked at the dark sky above, which I haven't noticed before.

"You work too hard, Seira," Liam said, speaking sweetly as always, complete gentlemen with soft grey eyes and light brown hair. I haven't hung out with Liam but the way Sella talked with dreamy eyes and a genuine smile about him, expressed their strong bond.

"I wanted to finish the painting," I said.

"I think you need a break, let's have dinner together?" She asked, smiling enticingly at me. I wanted to say no but both of them looked at me with soft inviting eyes.

"Okay," I said as Sella jumped clapping her hands together with a broad smile, Liam looking at her lovingly, igniting a strange ache in my heart. This was something I was missing, I never noticed till now, for a ridiculous minute I envied Sella.

I moved behind them as they entered the shop. I looked around at the stacks of groceries packed in long stalls. My mind wandered back to the kiss an hour ago. I have never behaved that way before, kissing a total stranger, wanting to lose myself in pleasure and peace his presence steered inside me.

Why do I feel so good near him?

His hands-on me ignited the long-forgotten pleasure, the taste of his mouth felt as if I shared my soul with him, his eyes clasping a desire to devour me.

"Seira...Seira " Sella asked shaking my shoulders.

"Yeah," I looked at her coming out of my head.

"Are you okay?" She looked concerned.

"I am good, little tired," I said.

"You should not work so hard. Take care of yourself, come on I will make you dinner and then you can rest. Liam will pay the bill. Let's walk home," She pulled me in a comforting hug. My eyes moistened at care, that once my family used to show me.

"We can wait for Liam," I said diverting my attention.

"He will be fine," She said hoisting me out of the shop towards their apartment which was about five hundred meters away from mine.

As we walked home, she focused on inhaling deeply.

"Do you smell it?" She asked me.

"What?" I asked.

"Its strange smell. Not of a werewolf but I sense some other creature in our pack," She said and I inhaled the smell, chilling my bones as it was my real scent.

Oh, Goddess, I forgot about using my power to heal Daniel...

I have to distract whoever smells it...

"I am human. My senses are not as strong as you," I said, she squeezed my shoulders lovingly, like a mother doing to her child while he complained about her being more good than him.

She came close to my hair, inhaling deeply and stopping me.

"It's coming from you, Seira," Her hands on both of my shoulders, her eyes concerned.

What should I do now??

"Someone attacked me today -" I blurted to stop her mind from examining further.

"What? Who? When?" Her focus shifted, making me a bit relieved.

"It was a werewolf," I said.

"Are you hurt?" Her eyes looking for injuries.

"No, I am fine. There was another wolf who saved me," I said.

"Oh my Goddess, Oh honey, you must be scared," She hugged me again.

"Not, really," I said honestly.

"You brave girl, so is that why you smell strange? You smell like that wolf who attacked you?" She asked.

"I think so," I said.

"You should take bath. It will fade away, nothing to worry about," She said as we resumed our walk.

"I am tired, Sella. I want to go home and rest," I said.

"Dinner?" She asked.

"We can have some other time, please," I said.

"Okay, but eat something before you sleep," she said.

"I promise," I said walking towards my apartment, with long strides, looking around if anyone notices my smell and some head turns to look at me, but nothing happens.

Once inside my apartment, I pulled out my phone and dialed Jack.

"Come on pick up, please," I prayed.

"Hey Seira," Came the sound of Jack.

"Oh, thank goddess. My mask is fading Jack. I need potion," I panicked.

"What did you do now?" He shouted.

"I - I helped someone heal," I said.

"Goddess, I asked you not to use your power, till I bring you potion," Jack said.

"I know, what should I do now?" I asked.

"I have no idea. Okay, just try to stay away from everyone and distract them. I will bring a potion, oh goddess, it would at least take me two days to make it. Stay away from everyone for two days. Can you do that?" He said.

"Okay," I said putting down my phone and going to the bathroom, to mix all kinds of bathing salt I have, attempting to hide my scent.

I inhaled my scent, it was getting strong with every passing second. I heard a knock on my door.

My left hand reached my heart, trying to calm down. Someone knocked louder this time.

Breath in.....breathe out

I opened the door and saw some werewolf soldiers standing and inhaling the smell deeply.

Oh, goddess...
What should I do now??

"Mam, if you don't mind, can we check your apartment? It has some strange smell of other creature, we want to make sure you are safe," one of them said, tall, bald with heavy muscles, can crush me easily if I didn't use my power.

Oh, goddess, please help me...

"I will check the apartment, you guys go ahead and look in that direction, the smell is stronger there," the familiar voice called behind them, turning their attention, increasing my heartbeat at the same time soothing my nerves.

"Go now," Said Daniel to the soldiers and they followed his command without any question.

Is he their commander?
Like their chief or something...

After they left, Daniel came into my apartment, pushing me aside and closing the door.

"Your smell is stronger," He said looking at me.

"Must be from that attack, rouge wolves smell different," I said and he chuckled.

"Do you take me as a fool?" He crossed the gap between us.

"I know what werewolves smell like, my pack or rouge," He said confidently, making it clear that he didn't believe my lie.

"Who are you?" I asked trying another trick.

"Daniel," he looked amused.

"I mean...are you commander or something??" I asked as he looked around the room, his eyes resting on my bedside table, on a picture of my parents.

I should have put down the picture...

Since nobody comes to my apartment, I never felt the need to hide it. It was the only picture I have of them. It was given to me by Jack, he only had this picture.

"Who are they?" He asked looking keenly at the picture.

"My parents," I said.

"Now don't change the topic and answer my question," I tried to divert him from asking further about me.

"Close the tap in the bathroom, " He said tilting his head as his eyes fixed on me. Frustrated by his dismissive behavior, I walked with heavy steps and closed the tap.

"Happy," I said in a mocking tone.

"You are not human. I know it and you know it too, so would you tell me who you are?" He asked.

"Would you tell me if you are the commander?" I asked.

"Pack your bags," He said.

"Excuse me," I think I heard wrong.

"You heard me, pack your bags, you are coming with me," He said rubbing his chin.

"Why?" I asked.

"Since you won't tell me who you are. Even if I am asking like a gentleman. Others who smell you would not ask you like me. You need protection," He said.

"I can handle myself," I said.

"I can see how you handled yourself. Trying to mask your smell with bathing scents," He said pointing towards the bathroom.

"I can't go with you. I hardly know you," I said.

"Well, if I heard right, you said you wanted to know me, now is the time," He said mocking me.

Why the hell does he care what happens to me?

"Who are you?? And why??" I asked tired of him averting my questions. I heard a growl and felt his hands on my waist crushing me to his chest.

"Woman, you ask too many questions??" He growled.

"And you don't answer any?" I said.

"So, you don't want to come with me?
Should I assume now, you are scared of me?" He asked.

"No," I said trying to push him away with my hands on his chest.
"Please, pack your bags. I don't want any bloodshed in my territory. It's for everyone's safety," He said sincerely, his eyes honestly concerned, and with that my resolve to push him away vanished.
