Chapter 8

Paddy

I paced back and forth across the cabin, my cock throbbing painfully inside my wet shorts.

What the heck was she doing in there?

I was two seconds away from whipping out my dick and taking care of my problem, when I heard the bathroom door open.

“Finally,” I grumbled, cursing under my breath when she pranced across the room in skimpy pajamas that left very little to the imagination.

I stormed into the bathroom, locking the door before I pushed my shorts down to my ankles. It was no easy task to get a wet bathing suit over a raging hard-on.

Her bikini was in the middle of the floor. I kicked off my shorts and knelt down to scoop up the flimsy scraps of material that she called a bathing suit. The delicious scent of her pussy trickled up my nose, my cock oozing precum when I brought the bottoms up to my face.

I was a virgin. But that didn’t mean I’d been living the celibate life of a well-behaved choir boy. I’d dated lots of women. And I’d eaten a few pussies. Had my fair share of head. I just drew the line at penetration. That was something sacred to me. And there was only one woman I wanted to put my dick inside of.

Did Alexis masturbate? Is that why she took so long in the bathroom? The crotch of her bathing suit was drenched with more than just water from the hot tub.

Was she thinking about me?

Or the idiot drummer?

I stepped into the shower, turning the dial to cold. My cock refused to settle down. I couldn’t stop thinking about the feel of her breasts in my hands. Good thing I had long fingers. Alexis’s tits weren’t small. Her nipples were hard enough to cut glass.

When she rubbed her pussy on my cock, I had to fight with everything in me not to come right there in the hot tub. That would’ve been more than just a little embarrassing. And that asshole would’ve punked me about it for the rest of the trip. Not to mention what Alexis would’ve thought.

I braced myself against the wall, grabbing my cock with my other hand while I fantasized about burying my face in her tits. She wouldn’t be expecting much from a virgin, but I’d make her scream. My size alone would be enough to have her clawing at the sheets. There was no way the drummer’s cock was as long and thick as mine. I had a freakishly large penis, with above average length and girth.

It didn’t take long to get myself off, my cum splattering against the tiles while my chest heaved up and down.

How was I supposed to sleep in the same bed with my best friend for an entire week?

I thought about wearing a t-shirt and long pants to bed. But I knew I’d never sleep if I did that. I preferred to sleep naked, or just in my boxers. Either way, sleeping next to the only woman I’d ever wanted was going to be torture.

“Feel better?” she asked when I crawled in next to her, making sure to stay on my side of the bed.

“Yeah. You?”

“Yeah.”

“Why were you crying when you came out of the bathroom earlier?”

“I wasn’t crying.”

“Alexis, how long have I known you?”

“Forever.”

“Why were you crying?”

“I don’t know,” she admitted quietly.

“You must have some idea.”

“I don’t wanna lose you, Paddy.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“We crossed a line tonight.”

“We did, indeed.”

“Should we just pretend it never happened?” she whispered.

“Is that what you want?” I held my breath, my heart rate taking off in an erratic rhythm while my future relationship with the woman I loved teetered on the edge of a steep cliff.

It was too quiet. I was used to the city. Traffic and sirens at all hours of the day and night. Trains and planes. Rain. Dogs barking. Horns blasting. But there was none of that in the Alaskan wilderness. Just the quiet whisper of the trees, and the occasional hoot of an owl.

Her soft voice finally brought an end to the long, torturous silence. “I don’t know.”

I released the breath I was holding while her words hung in the air between us. She didn’t know what she wanted.

Why was I surprised by that?

Alexis lived in the moment. She’d always been that way. Floating through life without any direction, like a beautiful leaf dancing down the middle of the street, content to land wherever the wind took her that day.

“Then why don’t we just see how things play out?” I suggested.

“Do you want to pretend it never happened, Paddy?”

“No, Alexis,” I admitted hoarsely. “I don’t.”

Silence again.

My confession stunned her. I could tell by her rapid breaths and her fidgeting.

She really had no idea I wanted her before that night? Even after I touched her on the plane? She didn’t feel the passion in my kisses?

“What are you saying, Paddy?”

“What did Osk mean when he said you were a handful in bed?”

Chicken shit. Way to avoid her question.

“I’m adventurous.”

“Adventurous, like you’re not vanilla, or adventurous like you enjoy putting fruit up your partner’s ass?”

Fruit?!” She laughed. “What kind of porno have you been watching?”

“Do you like anal?”

“Sometimes.”

“Do you like to be tied up?”

“I prefer to be the one doing the tying up, but sure.”

“Are you into whips and chains and all that shit?”

“I’m not into the dom stuff, if that’s what you’re referring to.”

“Are you into threesomes and orgies?”

“I’ve never had a threesome. I used to think I wanted to have one with a guy and another girl, but ever since I started seeing Osk, I just wanted to be with him. I haven’t been with anyone else since I met him.”

“What is it about him that you like so much?”

“You asked me that yesterday on the plane.”

“And you never gave me a straight answer.”

“We’re very compatible in bed.”

“There has to be more to it than that, Alexis.”

“Sex is important to me.”

“I’m aware of that. But I think there’s more to it.”

“He’s fun.”

“He’s dumb as a box of rocks.”

“Paddy! That’s not nice.”

“True though.”

“If I tell you, do you promise not to judge me?”

“I will try.”

“I haven’t been with any other guy for a year now. It’s just been Osk. And I kinda liked it. I didn’t think I wanted a boyfriend, because I thought I’d get bored with the same guy fucking me every night.” She paused, staring up at the ceiling as she took a couple of deep breaths. “I think it has something to do with Hannah. She found this great guy who loves her, and I’ve been starting to think that maybe I want what she and Miles have.”

“And you think Osk is the guy who can give you that?”

“I do. I think we’re a lot alike. I’m hoping he’ll come to the same realization that I did, and decide he wants a relationship. And what better setting than a wedding to help him figure that out.”

“How do you know he hasn’t already done that? And it’s Silicone Princess he wants.”

“Why would he choose her over me?”

“Maybe she’s his soulmate. I don’t think we get to pick who we fall in love with.”

“He’s not in love with her.” She rolled on her side so she was facing me, her blue eyes shimmering in the twilight. “You never answered my question, Paddy.”

“Which one?”

“Paddington Wallingford-Yargey, you know exactly which one.”

Don’t do it. Once you put it out there, you can’t take it back. Your friendship with her will never be the same again.

“Why did you say you didn’t want to pretend what happened in the hot tub never happened?” she asked.

“That is a very grammatically incorrect sentence.”

“Paddy!”

“Do you really wanna open up this can of worms?”

“If my best friend wants to fuck me, I would like to know about it.”

“And what if he did?”

“Does he?”

“What do you think?”

“I think we should go to sleep now.”

“Agreed. Good night, Alexis.”

“Good night, Paddy.”

I smiled when my mother’s face appeared on my phone. “Hey, Mom!”

“How’s Alaska?”

“Beautiful. I think I might wanna move up here.”

“Paddington Wallingford-Yargey, you better be kidding.”

“Relax, Ma,” I laughed. “I’m not moving to Alaska.”

“How’s Alexis?”

“She’s fine.”

“Where is she?”

“She’s doing Maid of Honour things.”

“How’s Hannah?”

“I haven’t seen much of her since we got here.”

“Please tell her congratulations from your father and me.”

“I will do that.”

“How’s Cleo doing?”

“She didn’t like flying. But she’s settled down now that we’re here. Miles organized a fishing trip for her and Lucy sometime later in the week.”

“She’ll like that.”

“I’m sure she will.”

“Your cabin looks cozy.”

I spun my phone in a circle, giving her a quick peek at our accommodations. “It’s nice,” I said. “I have no idea where we are. But I can tell you it’s very isolated.”

“That’s good. I’m sure Hannah and Miles don’t want any uninvited guests showing up.”

“There’s literally no chance of that happening,” I laughed.

“Looks like there’s only one bed,” she observed, raising her brow as a devilish grin spread across her face.

“Yep,” I confirmed.

“Why don’t you just tell Alexis how you feel, Paddy? Throw your hat in the ring.”

“I almost told her last night.”

“You did?” she whispered.

“Almost. Sort of.”

“How did that come about?”

“I’ll spare you the details, and just say we did some things that best friends should never do.”

“Really?” she gasped, her mouth hanging open as she leaned in so close to the screen I could see her tonsils.

“Yeah.”

“You’re gonna have to give me more, Paddy.”

“We fooled around in the hot tub. But Osk was there. I’m pretty sure that’s the only reason she let it get as far as it did.”

“How far did it get?!” she squealed.

“Do you really want me to answer that, Mom?”

“No. Yes.” She shook her head, raising her palm in the air. “Never mind. No.”

“Good choice.”

“I’m worried about you, Paddy,” she said. “I don’t want you to spend the rest of your life alone because you’re waiting for something that may never happen.”

“I know, Mom,” I sighed. “I’m thinking it might be time to let her go.”

“You can still be best friends.”

“I hope so.”

“But I think you need to tell her how you feel, Paddy.”

“And if she doesn’t want to be with me, it will ruin our friendship.”

“Do you think she has romantic feelings for you?”

“I think she’s so obsessed with sex, she has no idea how to let herself fall in love.”

“Do you think she’s in love with this drummer fellow?”

“With his cock maybe,” I muttered.

“There had to be more to their relationship than sex if she brought you along to try and make him jealous.”

“I don’t think so,” I said with a dry laugh. “The guy doesn’t have a lot going on upstairs. He can barely carry on a conversation.”

“You should have no trouble competing with him then, Paddington.”

“I’m not so sure about that, Mom.”
