Chapter 30

“Where are you going? We are supposed to have Mamma- Daddy time right?” Xavier asked with a smirk when I got up to leave the room.

“No, we aren’t. So shut up.” I said feeling my cheeks redden and he laughed at my response. I went downstairs to see off Ace and went back into to the room to check on Xavier.

“Xavier, I have to go to my house to get some of my files which I have to drop off at the office and I also have to do grocery shopping as the fridge is literally empty and you didn’t bother filling it again.”

“I will send someone to get the files and groceries. You don’t have to go.”

“Xavier, its office work, I have to go myself. I’ll be back soon, alright? And you mister are not allowed to step a foot out of the bed in the meantime, alright?”

“Fine. But you have to be back within an hour.” He said and I narrowed my eyes at him. Even when he is sick he is as demanding as ever.

“Bossy much?”

“Very much.” He said with a smirk. “Just get the files and drop it off. I’ll have someone get the groceries.” He said and I gave in. I reached back sooner than expected and found the groceries already on the kitchen counter.

“Xavier, I’m back.” I yelled once I entered his room.

“Xavier?” I called again not hearing any reply or seeing him in the room. I heard a groan from the bathroom and rushed towards it.

“Xavier, you okay in there?” I asked after knocking on the door.

The door opened when I pushed a bit harder as it was not locked. I saw Xavier sitting beside the toilet puking to it and I rushed to him.

“I’m fine. I will come out soon. Leave.” He groaned out before puking again and I rubbed his back until he finished.

“Angel, leave.” He said again but I ignored it and cleaned his face with a wet towel.

“Here, drink some water.” I said after flushing the toilet and making him sit on its lid.

“I don’t want you to see me like this. So please leave.”

“Everybody get sick, Xavier. It’s okay to let someone help you. There is nothing embarrassing in that. It’s just me. I won’t judge you. You know that don’t you?” I said cupping his face with one hand while the other pushed back his hair which was coming to his face.

“Let me help, okay?” I asked and he looked at my eyes for a moment before suddenly wrapped his arms around my stomach and hugged me snuggling his face to my chest. And I slowly wrapped my arms around him gently rubbing his back.

“Thank you.” He mumbled and I pushed his face a bit away by tugging his hair so that I could see him.

“It’s my bestfriend duty.” I said smiling and I don’t know why but I did place lingering kiss on his forehead.

“Let’s get you into some clothes.” I said seeing that he is only in his boxers.

“I don’t want to move. I’m comfortable.” He said pushing his face into my chest.

“I will let you cuddle me after you get changed.”

“Promise?” He asked and I sighed at this man child.

“Yes, I promise. Now I’ll go and get you clothes.”

“Just some pants please. No shirts. It’s too hot.” He said and I gave a quick glance at his upper body and gulped knowing it’s going to be huge distraction for me. I agreed however as his comfort mattered more now and picked him pants which looked comfortable to wear and gave it to him.

“I’ll be in the room.” I said and left him to change. I sat on his bed and began watching TV and he soon came out and joined me.

“This is nice.” He said laying his head on my lap and snuggled into my stomach.

“Do you want me to ask Doctor Cole to check up on you again?”

“No. I’ll be fine.” He mumbled.

“Sure?” I asked running my hands through his hair.

“Hmm.” And soon he was asleep.

“Eva?!” He called out an hour later.

“I’m in the kitchen. Do you need something?” I yelled out but received no reply. I heard my phone beep and checked it to see that Kane had sent old pictures of us together as if forcing me to go through the memories.

“Angel? Eva?” I heard and felt Xavier shake my shoulder gently.

“Uhm..yes?” I asked quickly putting aside the phone.

“Are you alright? I had been calling you for a full minute? Is something wrong?” He asked and glanced at my phone on the counter.

“No,no. Everything is fine.” I brushed it off.

“You know you can talk to me about anything, right? If there is something troubling you, you can talk to me about it.” He said cupping my face. Somehow I was sure Xavier wouldn’t react well if he comes to know about Kane.

“Yes, I know. Now tell me what are you doing out of your bed?” I asked changing the topic.

“I have been lying on the bed for hours. I need to move around a bit or else my body would go stiff.”

“Alright, alright. It’s time for lunch anyways. Come on.” I said and lead him towards the table.

We had lunch together and I made sure he had his medicines. We then sat down to watch a movie and ended up falling asleep.

I woke up hearing cute giggles and found Ace standing beside the couch with Xavier’s phone in his hand and he was taking pictures of us with it.

“Ace, what are you doing? No!” I whispered thinking Xavier was still asleep.

“I’m awake, Love.” Xavier mumbled and kissed my head. Ace climbed onto the couch and I hugged him to me and Xavier wrapped one of his arms around him completely engulfing us in his arms.

“How was your day, Little One?”

“It was fine but I missed you both.”

“Aww. We missed you too, munchkin.”

“Daddy, are you fine now?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Your Mamma took so much care of me.” Xavier said placing a sound kiss on my cheek.

“I got to show you something.” Ace then said and got out of our arms to reach for his bag.

“Look, Mamma. I got a little prize for our project.” He said showing off his prize.

“That’s amazing, Ace. Congratulations!” I said feeling happy for his achievements. I gave him a quick hug and passed him to Xavier.

“Good job, son.” Xavier said patting Ace’s back. “I’m proud of you, always.” Xavier murmured to him and kissed his head.

“Thank you.” He mumbled back shyly.

“Since you have done so much hard work, you should be rewarded right? How about I make your favorite cookies for you? Or should I make chocolate cake?” I asked Ace and he smiled in excitement.

“Both, please?”

“Choose one, Ace. Don’t trouble her by making her prepare both.” Said Xavier pointedly.

“No, it’s fine. Ace deserves the treat.”

“No, Mamma. It’s fine. You can make either one for me. I don’t mind.”

“Okay. You go change in the meantime.”

“Okay, Mamma.” He said and ran off.

“And you!” I said pointing at Xavier.

“Me?” Xavier pointed at himself in confusion.

“Yes you. Do not let me see you out of that couch.”

“Okay, Mamma.” Xavier mocked and I slapped on his arm.

And then I went to the kitchen to make both cookies and cake. Yes, I’m going make them both and they can’t stop me.

“Mamma?” Ace called out sometime later.

“I’m in the kitchen. But you can’t come in now. I will bring it there. You can’t sneak in, Okay?”

“But why?”

“You’ll know.”

“Mamma, are you done yet?” He asked from the living room after twenty minutes.

“Almost. And is your Daddy being a good boy and resting as he should be?”

“Angel, please. Boy? I’m a man.” Xavier retorted.

“Whatever floats your boat.” I muttered to myself.

“Do you want me to prove it you?” Xavier asked and I can tell he is smirking.

“No, thank you! I know I would be disappointed.”

“Oh baby, you will be far from being disappointed. In fact I think you wil-′

“Can you please let me bake in peace? Ace, please tell your Daddy to be quiet.”

“Ace, tell your Mamma to stop being mean.” He said loud enough to make sure I hear his comment.

“Guess what guys? My system is on ‘Tune out’ mode. So both of you please carry on.” Ace said and I choked on my own saliva.

Surely Xavier’s son.

“Tada!” I said entering to the living room carrying both cookies and cakes.

“I knew you were upto something.” Xavier said narrowing his eyes at me. I rolled my eyes at him and placed my treats for Ace beside him. I sat infront of Ace waiting for him to say something while he looked at me with pure happiness.

“Thank you, Mamma. I love you so so much.” Ace said cupping my cheeks. He then wrapped his arms around my neck and hugged me tight.

We had cakes and cookies and talked for a while. By night however Xavier’s fever went up again and it was bit worrying. Around noon the next day it went down again and he looked almost normal but by then I was beyond exhausted. Feeling a headache coming in, I slumped on the other side of Xavier’s bed and soon fell asleep.
