Chapter 51

“Let’s go to the terrace.” Xavier suggested holding my hand.

“Why?” I asked confused. Ace was already asleep in his room as it was pretty late. But Xavier and I was still awake finishing up some work on our laptops.

“Just because. Please put on some sweater and come up. I will be there.” He said and lightly pushed me in the direction of our room.

Xavier had put a blanket on the floor and was sitting on it with a tub of ice cream beside him by the time I was near him. It’s been a couple of months now since our wedding and things were still blissful. We continued with our Saturday date and Sunday family date ritual and would once in a while go on short trips or drives both as couple and as family.

“Come on, sit down.” He said patting beside him.

“Xavier, is everything alright?”

“You worry too much, Angel. I just wanted to spend time together, to talk as lately we have been too busy. Now it’s just you and me with the stars gazing us from above while our son is safely asleep in his bed.” He said and kissed my knuckles.

“This is so different from my life before I met both of you. Now it feels amazing to come home together after work and to be greeted by our son. To spend time as a family. To laugh so much a day. We have troubles and difficulties that we have to face but once home it’s like I’m in a different world. This is my safe heaven. With both of you.” I said laying my head on his shoulder.

“Mine too, Love. We have each other’s back and that’s all that matters to me.” He said leaning his head against mine.

“We are being a sappy couple now, aren’t we?” I asked laughing.

“Once in a while I guess it’s okay to be one.” He justified pressing a tender kiss on my forehead. We both sat in soothing silence while sharing the ice cream for a long time. Both of us were tired and are in need of some sleep but this moment was so precious that nothing could stop us from relishing it.

“There are lots of stars gazing at us right now. It is really a captivating view.” I murmured laying on my back on the blanket.

“It is especially with you beside me.” He said now lying beside me.

“Stop being so cheesy.”

“As your husband I have the right to be.” He said kissing my beautiful wedding ring.

“Oh really?”

“Uh Uh.”

“So should I be cheesy wife too?”

“I would love you no matter what.” He mumbled placing a soft peck on my lips.

“Even when I’m old and wrinkly?”

“Even then, till death do us apart remember? Even after death my ghost will be there wherever you are. Moreover you will be the most beautiful old lady to be ever live on earth and the most beautiful ghost.” He said making me laugh.

“And you will be my sidekick.”

“Always and forever.” He assured with a sincere smile.

“When Ace grows up he will love us the same, wouldn’t he? Or would he come to hate us like kids these days does?” I asked about the fear that has been taunting for a while.

“I don’t know, Love. Right now I don’t think he will turn out that way. But there might be times where he would go against our wishes or seem to dislike us. But that might be phase which will pass. But I will kick his ass if he behaves like an ungrateful brat.”

“Let’s hope he grows up to respect and care for everyone.”

“Hmm. Like his Mamma.”

“You aren’t that bad so he can be a little like you too.”

“I’m not that bad, huh. That’s really funny, Love.” He said chuckling.

“You are not bad to your family.”

“My family is my exception. No one should be bad to their family.”

“That’s true.”

“Did you ever have pets as a kid?” I asked after a while he was soothingly running his finger up and down my arm and peppering me with kisses every now and then.

“We once had a small fish. Dad’s friend had gifted it for my birthday. It died a week after.”

“I fed it spoonful of its food three times a day.” He said sheepishly and I chuckled at this.

“How old were you then?”

“Seven probably.”

“What did Dad say when he found out?”

“He said he would never repeat the same mistake of asking me to feed anyone other than myself.”

“Did you have any pets after that?”

“No. He didn’t trust me enough to take of animals or fishes after that.”

“That is understandable.”

“It’s his fault he didn’t give me proper instruction on how to feed that fish.”

“Would you like to have a pet fish now?”

“No. It would end up dead one way or other and I might be the reason for it. So let’s not bother.” He stated with a shrug and I let out a giggle knowing something like that might happen.

“Are you feeling sleepy?” He asked kissing my temple.

“A little bit.”

“Do you want to go to sleep now?”

“No. Let’s stay here a little longer.”

“Come here.” He said pushing me closer to him that way my head was on his chest and I was snuggled up against him.

“I love you.” I said and placed a kiss on his jaw.

“I love you too, Angel.” He replied snuggling closer and just like that I fell asleep against him.

I woke up on the bed late next day which is not so surprising as I was tired as hell from sleeping late.

“Good morning, Angel.”

“Morning.” I mumbled out rubbing my eyes.

“Let’s have breakfast in bed today.” Xavier said bringing in French toast, two bowls of fruits and juice.

“I don’t feel like eating breakfast today.” I said laying back on bed.

“You have to, Love. You didn’t eat a proper dinner either yesterday.” Xavier said gently pushing up my shoulders to make me sit up again.

“I’m not hungry!” I said suddenly irritated at his insistence.

“Angel, is anything troubling you?”

“No. Just sleepy.” I said and went to brush my teeth. Afterwards I began eating the fruits much to Xavier’s satisfaction.

“You are the boss. You can take a day off and take some rest, Baby. You have been working like hell the past couple of days.”

“And make others do my work? I rather not. Where is Ace?”

“Peter dropped him off to his kindergarten.”

“It’s already eleven, Angel. I told Peter to drop him off today as I was still half asleep.”

“Did he have breakfast?” I asked frowning at my tardiness.

“He did. Chris cooked the breakfast as yours truly is not capable of this task.” He said pointing to himself.

Chris began as a butler and caretaker but now whenever I’m not able to cook he cooks for us too which I’m thankful for.

“Eat up, Angel.” Xavier said moving the plate of French toast closer to me. Sighing I began eating them for the sake of my husband.

“You are annoying.”

“Caring you mean?” He asked raising his eyebrow.

“Caring and annoying.” I finalized.

“But you are still the best hubby in the world.” I praised and was rewarded with his beautiful smile.

“And you are the best wife in the entire universe.” He said kissing my lips.

“We are being cheesy again.”

“It’s the cheesy week, Baby.” He said making me laugh.

This man!
