Bonus chapter 1

“Everything hurts, Xavier. Get her out of me.” I whimpered in pain and frustration.

“Hold on for a little longer, my love. She will be here soon. I’m sorry for not being able to do anything to lessen your pain.” He said while gently rubbing his hand over my back.

“I know. But it’s so uncomfortable. I just want to sleep for a while but I’m not able to.” I said while tears of frustration ran down my eyes. He helped me lay down on the bed with pillows he had specially brought for my comfort and then sat by my swollen feet and began massaging them for me. After a while he laid down beside me and gently massaged my scalp trying to lull me to sleep. And I was almost asleep when I heard laughs and squeals of the boys.

“Boys, Keep your voices down. Your Mamma is trying to take a nap.” Xavier said and they yelled out an apology before going silent.

“Let them be, Xavier. I haven’t heard them laugh like that in a while.” I said with a sleepy smile.

I was supposed to give birth three days ago but little princess wasn’t ready to grace us with her presence and decided to live in her hideout a little longer. The boys didn’t take this news well especially Kai who has less patience than any of us. Normally he would hide in ours or Ace’s arms in the presence of stranger and would not utter a word and so it was surprise hearing him yell at the doctor who told I wasn’t dilated enough and the baby is not likely to come out that day. Ace in the meantime didn’t utter a word about the subject probably not wanting to stress me out and has been doing a great job in consoling Kai.

“You can hear their laughs after your nap. You need all the rest and energy for delivering our baby.” He said while slowly running his hands around my belly with his other hand and I hummed in reply being too tired to speak coherent words.

“Argh.” I groaned out angrily after sometime.

“What’s wrong? Are you having any contractions?”

“No, but I have to pee again. Probably for the hundredth time today.” I huffed out while trying to sit up on the bed.

“Let me help you.” He said and helped me in walking to the bathroom without tripping.

“I want to go back to sleep. So tired.” I mumbled after coming from the bathroom.

“Daddy!” Ace whisper yelled coming into our room probably thinking I’m asleep.

“What’s wrong, Baby?” I asked seeing his worried face.

“It’s nothing. Don’t worry, Mamma. I just wanted to speak to Daddy about something.” He said nervously.

“What are you trying to hide from me, Ace Whilson?”

“It’s nothing, Mamma. Why don’t you rest for a while?” He asked and I bit my lips as a small contraction hit me and I glanced at the clock to see how long it last.

“I’ll talk to him. You just relax okay?” Xavier said not aware that I’m having a contraction. He gently made me sit on our bed and turned to towards Ace.

“Where is Kai?” I asked as soon as the usual random contraction passed over.

“Mamma, he is..he..”

“Ace..” I called in warning.

“He is crying again and I’m not able to make him stop crying.” He mumbled sadly and I let out a long sigh.

“In the nursery?” I asked and Ace nodded in reply.

Since his burrito didn’t come home the day she was supposed to he has been crying a lot lately and would often end up in her nursery every one hour. Kai initially thought his sister doesn’t like him and that’s why she doesn’t want to meet him and had cried about it. We told him that’s not true and he thankfully believed us. But then he once again began crying a lot saying he wants to meet his burrito right then.

“I’ll talk to him, Love. Don’t stress about it. Ace, take care of her.” Xavier said and left the room while Ace sat beside me.

“Kai will be fine, Mamma. And so will be our little doe. She will be with us soon like the doctor said. We shouldn’t worry about it so much. It would do more harm than good. We just have to pray to God.” He said while standing on the bed beside me and cupping my face in his little hands. I had often wondered how Ace is capable of speaking like an adult and is so wise with his words and to this day I have no answer to it.

“You are right, Little one. And I want you to know that I’m really proud of you and I will always be. You make me, your father and your siblings very happy and I’m really really thankful to God for he gave me you.” I said while hugging him to me.

“Thank you, Mamma. Thank you for teaching me to be good and kind. I love you always.”

“Love you too, my son. Forever.” I said and leaned back against the headrest sleepily.

“You okay, Mamma?”

“Yeah. I’m a bit sleepy.” I said after letting out a yawn.

“Then sleep, Mamma. Ace will protect you and our family in the meantime.” He said with determination.

“Alright, my warrior.” I said and laid down on the bed and he laid beside me with his head on my thigh.

“While you are sleeping can I tell little doe a story?”

“I’m sure she would like that.” I said while gently patting his head.

“But you have to sleep first and only then will I tell my story.”

“I’ll try to sleep and hopefully I do.” I said and closed my eyes for him so that he could start with his story.

“Once upon a time there was a young prince. The prince and his beloved father lived in huge palace with his beautiful mother. The prince loved his mother, the queen very much and so did the king. The queen took care of the prince and loved him like no other and it made him happy. She made him happy along with his father. The prince soon got a little brother whom he would protect with his life. The prince and his little brother spent their time playing and laughing while their parents watched over them with sweet smile on their faces. But the kingdom and the palace was missing one more person. A little princess. A little doe who the prince would love and cherish forever. But the little princess was being a stubborn baby and wouldn’t come out to meet her family. The prince promised to take care and love the princess and also promises to be the best for her and their family. The prince loves his family so so much and would forever protect them. The prince promises.” He said and placed a kiss on my belly in the end while I was trying my best not to cry. After calming my emotions I slept for about ten minutes before waking upto the sound of Xavier and Kai.

“I’m sorry for disturbing you, my love. Go back to sleep.” He said and I glanced at Kai who was in his arms. Kai was letting out little hiccups while wiping his tears.

“It’s okay.” I said and sat up on the bed.

“Give him to me.” I said and Xavier placed Kai beside me and next to Ace.

“Kai, no more tears please. Doe will be here soon, I promise. She won’t want her brother to be crying for her. If Kai cries all of us would be sad too. Even Mamma. You don’t want our Mamma to be sad, right?” Ace talked to him in his big brother voice.

“I just want to see my burrito. Why is she being so lazy now? She can be lazy after she comes home from hospital. I offered her all my toys and books and even my candy’s but she still wouldn’t come to meet me. That’s rude. Right, Mamma? Very rude. So she has to stop being rude and come out from Mamma’s belly. Mamma’s belly needs rest too. So come out right now. COME OUT!!” Kai screamed in the end and Xavier immediately picked him up and tried to calm him down while I felt something wet drip down my legs. Looks like little Burrito decided to listen to her big brother.

“Mamma, are you okay?” Ace asked hearing me gasp loudly.

“Angel, what’s wrong?”

“My water broke.”

“Shit. Kai, ask Uncle Chris to meet us the front and tell him Mamma is having the child now. Ace, help me with me the hospital bag, okay?” Xavier commanded.

“Burrito is coming?” Kai asked me and I nodded in reply.

“She can’t refuse her big brother’s wish.” I said and he cheered loudly while I was trying not to wince in pain as another contraction hit me. The boys soon ran out of the room to fulfil the task given to them and Xavier helped me clean and change into a decent cloth before carrying me downstairs where Ace was holding the bags we had placed by the front door.

“Chris, take care of the kids while we are gone and inform Dad and Eva’s grandparents that she is going into labour.” Xavier said and Chris nodded in agreement. I bit Xavier’s shoulder to smother my cries knowing Kai would start crying again if he sees me in pain and this time Ace would also probably join him.

“Almost there, Love.” Xavier said as he walked us to the car and sat me inside.

Several painful hours later I finally gave birth to our beautiful baby. Our little princess.

“She is so precious.” Xavier said tearfully looking at the baby is his arms.

“She is.” I agreed tiredly. Xavier leaned down to kiss my lips but I sent him a deadly glare.

“Keep your bloody distance. I’m not doing this again.” I warned him and he backed off immediately.

“The boys must be waiting outside. Should I bring them in now?” Xavier asked and I nodded in agreement. He passed me our child and went out to bring in our sons.

“Mamma.” Ace called out while running into the room with Xavier following him holding our sleeping Kai in his arms.

“Are you okay, Mamma? Are you in any pain? Do you want medicines?” Ace asked after his Dad helped him sit on the bed.

“I’m fine, Baby. I really am. Come closer and look at your baby sister.” I said and he crawled closer towards me and peeped at his sister.

“My Little doe.” He murmured and leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead.

“Do you want to hold her?”

“Yes, please.” He said and I made him sit on my lap before carefully placing her on his arms.

“My baby sister.” He cooed to her when she opened her eyes to look at him.

“I’m your big brother, Doe. I promise to be there for you whenever you need me. And I promise to protect you always. I love you, little doe.” He murmured to her and I was completely sure that he would keep all his promise to her.

“Did you not sleep at all, Baby?” I asked noticing his tired eyes.

“I was worried about you and excited about the baby and so I couldn’t go to sleep. Kai wanted to stay up too but he fell asleep after a while.” He said while not taking his eyes off his sister.
Few minutes later Bub let out a small cry before going back to sleep but that cry woke up Kai.

“Ready to see your sister, Kai?” Xavier asked while patting Kai’s back.

“Burrito!” Kai said and began looking around the room for her.

“Come here, Kai.” I said and he stared at his sister for a whole minute before starting to cry again.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“I just love her so much.” He said while wiping his tears away.

“Aww. She loves you too, baby. Do you want to hold her like Ace?” I asked and he shook his head negatively.

“Dirty hands.” He said looking down at his hands.

“Let’s go wash your hands then.” Xavier said and picked him up to the bathroom.

“One more time please.” I heard Kai say from the bathroom for the fourth time.

“Kai, your hands are clean. You don’t have to wash it a thousand times.” Xavier assured and brought him back to the room. And just like with Ace I helped him hold our still sleeping baby and he stood still being too afraid to move with her in his arms.

“Brother, look. Kai is holding burrito.” Kai whispered to Ace who was already watching him with a smile on his face.

“You are a great big brother, Kai.” Ace assured and leaned towards Kai to place a kiss on his forehead.

“You too, Brother. I love you.”

“I love you too.” Ace said and I was yet again being emotional and received a questioning stare from Xavier.

“Hormones.” I justified and he shook he head while smiling mischievously.

“You can’t use that excuse for much longer now.”

“Whatever.” I said while glaring at him and he let out a chuckle.

Soon the Chris and the rest of our family came in to see our newborn and the boys had a hard time in sharing their baby sister’s attention with others.

“Uncle Gabe, enough. I want to hold her now.” Ace said with a huff.

“Nope. She wants her uncle now.”

“No, she wants her brother.”

“If you take your sister and then I’ll also take my sister with me.”

“She is my Mamma.”

“And she is my sister.”

“Doesn’t matter. I want my Mamma and my sister. Go to your Maria.”

“How about I take Kai with me?”

“No! He is my brother.” Ace said hugging Kai’s sleeping body to him.

“Unless you want to get beaten by a child stop annoying him.” My grandmother warned Gabe who then handed our baby to Xavier. Xavier held her carefully and made Ace sit on his lap so that he could be closer to his sister.

“So what did you guys name her?” Dad asked and Xavier looked up at me with a smile.

“Xia Whilson.”
