Chapter Seventeen

Ever since Isaac left to go to Katy’s, I had been pacing around the house, not able to shake Bellamy from my mind.

Who was that guy? Where were they going?

I slapped myself in the face a couple of times, trying to rid myself of these sinful thoughts. Thoughts I had no right having about my best friend’s little sister.

She had demons of her own. Demons I helped create, and she didn’t need mine added to the mix.

I was still a little broken by her admission, telling me that I was partly responsible for her feeling miserable the last couple of years, and if I could turn back time and change it all, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

But I couldn’t.

So now, I had to keep my distance another way, trying not to offend her every time I opened my mouth. She deserved better.

An hour later, I was still walking back and forth through the kitchen, my hands occasionally going to my phone, in which I had saved Bellamy’s number. For emergencies.

And this wasn’t an emergency. No, she was having fun with some guy at a restaurant.

I imagined her bright face, dark lashes surrounding big blue eyes, the color brought out by her dress, and her silky soft hair, that looked like liquid gold, flowing down her back.

It would look even better wrapped around my hand as I...whoa ok.

I sunk into the couch, flipping through the Netflix library, in search of a distraction. Eventually, I gave up and just put on some music.

Around midnight, I felt my eyelids go heavy, and I was about to head to bed when I heard the front door open.

Bellamy tried to be quiet, which I appreciated, but I was awake anyway. She made sure of that.

“Finally,” I muttered softly, watching her walk into the living room in that little blue dress of hers. God, those legs.

“Uhm, hi?” she mumbled, frowning at me, and I looked into her eyes.

Blinded by whatever the fuck I felt for her, I took a step in her direction. “Had fun?”

“I did, actually, thank you for asking.”

I clenched my teeth at the sarcastic comeback, and I tried to stay calm, but that was almost impossible with her so close to me.

She walked away, heading for the stairs, but I stopped her.

“Noah,” she exclaimed, her eyes going from my hand on her arm to my face. “What’s your problem?”

Oh, I have plenty of problems, Goldilocks.

I scoffed, releasing her, and I rubbed my hands over my face. This girl. Did she really not know?

“Are you blind?” It came out before I even knew what I was doing, but she remained surprisingly calm, just raising her brows.

“Excuse me?”

“He’s so fucking in love with you, people on the other side of the world can see it,” I said, raising my voice a little. I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t help it.

“What? No, he isn’t,” she replied, crossing her arms.

I rolled my eyes, throwing my hands in the air out of frustration. My chest rose and fell quickly, and my breathing was definitely uneven.

God, what I wouldn’t give to just—

“What the fuck is your problem?” she spit at me, getting worked up herself. Shit, I didn’t want to make her angry.

But what did I expect, acting like that?

"He is my problem.” I took a few steps in her direction, pointing a finger behind me.

Bellamy blinked rapidly, staying glued to the spot.

“Noah,” she said, her calm and soft voice taking me by surprise. “Why do you care?”

I searched her face, unable to keep my eyes from dropping to those beautiful pink lips.

She was so pretty, like an artwork I could stare at for hours and not get bored.

She stepped closer, so close I could see the tiny freckles that covered her nose. Even in the dark.

This was dangerous territory, but I was ready to get hurt. I was broken anyway, and the only one that could wreck me further, was allowed to. I’d let her do anything.

Before I could fully register what I was doing, I grabbed her by her jaw and pulled her in, crashing my mouth on hers.

She didn’t protest. On the contrary. She grabbed my face with both hands and pushed herself harder against me, startling me with her fire.

It was better than I could’ve ever dreamed of.

Her lips moved against mine like they were made for each other, the warmth and softness of her mouth inviting me in for more.

And god, did I need more.

I pushed her back, walking us to the couch before I laid her down on the soft cushions.

The most beautiful sound left her lips as I crawled on top of her, and I grabbed the armrest above her head with force.

I can’t believe this is happening.

Her hands were everywhere, pulling me in, and I couldn’t help but explore her body too.

This might never happen again, so I took all I could get.

I brushed a hand over her leg, up and under her skirt, pulling her closer. I wouldn’t go as far as to touch her as I had in my dreams, but when she curled her legs around my waist, I let out a groan.

She took the opportunity to push her tongue in my mouth, and I found it harder and harder to hide my aching erection from her.

Fuck, she turned me on with one single look, but tasting her, touching her, almost made me explode.

Our tongues started their game, and I sighed. Like I got my fix—a glass of water after walking in the desert for years.

I grabbed her waist, just holding her a little longer before I had to let go forever.

One of her hands disappeared into my hair, and I was about to press my teeth in her lower lip, when I heard the lock of the front door.

The both of us froze, our eyes springing open and our lips finally parting.

I only had a second to admire the blush on her cheeks and her pink and swollen lips who simply begged to be devoured again, because the door opened and Isaac came stumbling in.

We sprung apart, and I jumped off the couch, trying to create as much distance between me and Bellamy as humanly possible.

Apart from the fact that I didn’t want to hurt Isaac’s feelings, or betray his trust, just her scent could make me faint on the spot.

“Isaac?” Bellamy asked, her voice a little groggy.

I adjusted myself in my jeans, quickly running a hand through my hair before I walked to the hall to help my friend. Now was not the time to eye-fuck his sister.

God, it never was. She was innocent, pure, and I...

“Hi, my sweet sister,” Isaac slurred, flinching when he saw me. “And my best friend.”

Bellamy and I shared a look, before we quickly looked back to Isaac. Making eye contact with her probably wasn’t the best idea, though.

“Are you alright?” Bellamy asked, grabbing her brother by the arm and supporting him as he swayed to the couch.

The couch where we just—

“I don’t know,” Isaac whispered, looking up at his sister. His playful expression faded, and I quickly took a seat next to him when I saw his eyes getting watery.

What had Katy done?

I patiently waited for him to continue, keeping my gaze on him.

Bellamy crossed her legs as she sat on the other side of Isaac, and I swallowed hard. Fuck me.

“I broke up with her,” Isaac finally said, surprising the both of us.

I tried to keep my happiness at bay, especially since I knew that he really loved Katy.

“Why?” Bellamy choked out, clearing her throat. It was obvious that she was just as pleased with this development as I was.

Isaac’s face changed, his brows furrowing as he went from sadness to anger in a split second.

“She cheated,” he said through clenched teeth, roughly wiping away a tear that had made it onto his cheek.

Bellamy looked equally unsurprised, but I could feel the anger radiating off of her from sitting over here.

“I’m going to murder her,” she said, wrapping her arms around her brother.

Me too, Goldilocks. Me too.
