Planning a wedding in two months is probably the stupidest thing I’ve done. Well... besides sleeping with Aries. Not that the sex was bad. In fact the sex was absolutely mind blowing. Yes, I may have been drinking. No, I wasn’t drunk. His dick was perfect. The last thing a girl wants to see after having sex for the first time in way too long, is the wife standing in the kitchen in nothing but a t-shirt. She introduced herself as his wife, but he did explain later, in one of the many texts and voicemail messages he left me, that she is in fact an ex- wife and was only staying there until her apartment is ready.
“Jules, I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you. Julianna wasn’t supposed to be there. Her plans to stay at a friend’s house were unexpectedly cancelled. You’re right, she never should have introduced herself as my wife. Please Jules,” Aries pleaded from across the table. “Please give me a chance to make it up to.” He’s giving me those big hazel puppy dog eyes. If I was able to stop thinking about the really hot sex, I would have walked out of the restaurant already.
“Aries, how would you like to make it up to me?” If I’m going to do this, I’m going to get all that I can. Aries’ smile is... beautiful. The jerk.
“Let me take you to Chicago for a weekend. After Jane and Asher’s wedding, we can go to Chicago and catch a play, maybe a baseball game? I have an Uncle that has a loft downtown and he’s away in Italy. He asked me and another cousin to look after the place while he’s gone. What do you say?” Hmm. That’s not a bad offer.
“Fine. But I also want a new designer purse. I like Coach.” He squints his eyes and smirks at me.
“Done. We’ll go shopping for a new Coach bag before the trip.” Aries reaches across the table to shake on our deal. I roll my eyes and smile before reaching across the table to shake his hand. When I put my hand in his, he pulls it to his lips to kiss it. Sneaky jerk. Why am I smiling?
I love Jane and Asher. They are seriously one of the cutest couples I know. Their wedding has been one of the easiest to plan. I got a chance to work with the wedding planners at this Castle where they want to have their wedding. I’ve only just recently decided to party plan as a full time job. I have Jane to thank for that. She made me realize after planning her daughter’s sweet 16 party that I really do have skill in party planning. Her wedding is definitely going on my website. Jane knew who she wanted to make her cake and she already had a DJ and a location picked out. I wish she would have picked a different DJ, but Aries offered his services as a wedding gift to her and Asher. You can’t really argue with free. Her close friend, Erika, does amazing work with her cakes. Another really great choice. Her daughter, Libby, is her only maid of honor and Asher’s brother, Grayson, is his only best man. She chose to have her son, Matthew, walk her down the aisle. That way when the pastor asks, “Who gives this woman to be lawfully wedded to this man,” he’ll say, “My sister and I.” How sweet is that? I just know I’m going to be a blubbering mess at this wedding. The wedding is in two days and I need to go through this massive checklist today. I don’t want any surprises. I don’t want to do this, but I think I need help. I’ll just text him.
Jules: I may need an extra pair of hands today. Any chance you’re free?
Aries: For you, I have all the time in the world. I finish work in a couple hours. I can come over then.
Jules: Thank you.
So far I have all of the table decorations sorted and packed into totes. Asher helped me get a deal on a van for my new business. He also helped me get a logo on there. Jane designed my logo for me. I’m really very grateful for Jane and Asher. Jane especially has been there for me.
About a year ago I was engaged to Cruise. I loved that man. We bought a house together, my daughter was excited to have a father figure in her life, everything was going great. One month before our wedding, he left. I was in Tennessee visiting family and I came home to a note. He loved me, but he wanted to pursue his dream of being a being an architect. So he packed up his stuff and left. I called and texted him to try and get him to talk to me about this new dream of his. His response was to send his mother to let me know to leave him alone. Me and my daughter, Alexis, were devastated. Jane was there at my side through the whole thing.
Then I meet Aries.
“Hey Jules, I’m running behind but I’m on my way. Do you need me to stop anywhere?” I’m glad he called, because I do have a small shopping list.
“I do. I can text the list to you now. You can get everything at Target.” I tell him, knowing he’s regretting offering his help right now.
“Whatever you need Jules. I will head that direction now. Keep your phone close in case I have a question.” Wow, no hesitation from Mr. Macho. Maybe I judged him too quickly. I sent the text with my short list. It’s really not bad. The linens, plates, silverware and food will all be taken care of on location. I just completely forgot about favors for the guests. At this moment I’m super glad there’s only 30 people coming.
What the hell did I get myself into? I hope Asher appreciates the fact that I’m at Target buying candy, ribbon, card stock, and whatever these tulle circle things are. She’s going to make me do something crafty, I just know it. Jules is trying to torture me. I have sisters who are into all of this stuff. It’s fine, if this is what I need to do to show Jules I’m really a good guy, then I will craft the shit out of whatever she needs. I pull into her driveway and take a deep breath before grabbing the shopping bags and walking up to her front door. I ring the doorbell and hear someone on the other side yelling, “I’m coming.” A moment later Jules opens the door and rushes me into the house.
“Sorry, I’m making me and Alexis a quick snack. It’s been a busy day.” She says rushing back to the kitchen.
“What are we having?” I ask, I eat pretty healthy so I’m curious what she normally eats.
“I made up a couple tortillas with ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato. I made an extra one for you.” Jules hands me a plate with the wrap.
“Thank you Jules. That was very sweet of you.” I put the shopping bags down on the counter and take the plate from her. “I really appreciate that.” I can’t remember the last time a woman made a snack for me. My ex-wife didn’t cook or clean or really do much.
“It’s the least I could do for you. We’re about to embark on a very special journey of making wedding favors. Welcome to my craft room.” Jules motions to her dining room which is covered with white and pink flowers, ribbon, and fabric.” She giggles leading me over to a cleared portion of the table. Like a good boy, I follow her with my plate in one hand and the Target shopping bags in the other.
“Alright,” I sit everything down and rub my hands together. “Let’s do this.” I sit beside Jules who is smiling at me. I am completely out of my element here, but I’m always willing to learn. Jules takes a bite of her wrap before getting into the shopping bags and lays everything out. She grabs a few items on the table and I have no idea what I’m looking at here. Jules gives me the task of using a special tool that cuts the card stock into the shape of a tag. While I start on the tags, Jules is wrapping the Hershey Hugs and Kisses in the tulle and wrapping them with the ribbon.
“Have you planned very many weddings? You seem to have this down to a science.” I ask, mesmorized by how fast she’s moving along.
“I’ve only helped with planning a few weddings. I’m excited to add something other than birthday parties to my website. Jane has been huge in helping me launch my new business. I’m pretty excited to see where this goes.” She admits to me. Jules took another bite of her wrap before continuing to package the candy.
“You know a good party planner should work with a really great DJ. I know a guy in case you want to add his information to your site.” I smile and shrug my shoulders. Jules laughs and shakes her head.
“That’s not a bad idea. I talked to Jane’s friend, Erika, about plugging her cake business on my site too.” She moves the finished wrapped candy aside and grabs a stamp and an ink pad. My mind is blown. I had no idea something like this existed. Jules grabs the tags I’ve cut and starts stamping them with “Thank you” in a script print.
“Um... I haven’t been counting the tags.” I stop and start counting the cut tags and realize I’ve made way too many. Jules laughs and moves the stamped tags aside.
“No worries, Aries, this is a good thing to make extra.” Jules walks to the kitchen and grabs a baggie to put the extra tags in. “Ok Aries, how good is your handwriting?” Ok, now I’m nervous.
“It’s not very good, but I can try. What do you need me to do?” I ask. She hands me a piece of scrap paper and a pen.
“I want you to write the wedding date below the ‘Thank you’.” Jules instructs, showing me the other tags as an example.
“Oh I got this.” I say and write the date out as she asked.
“Excellent.” She looks up and smiles at me. “You are enjoying this aren’t you?”
“I’m enjoying your company. My sisters are really crafty, I’ve made stuff for them to paint, stain, whatever.” I look up and smile. She bites her lip and gets back to tying the tags onto the bags of candy. A flash of her mouth on my cock from our night together instantly pops into my mind. That mouth of hers is amazing. I clear my throat trying to focus on the tags.
“I’m sorry, Aries, I didn’t offer you a drink. What would you like?” She asks, standing up.
“Water is fine. Thank you.” I say and she disappears into the kitchen. I finish up the tags and move them to her completed pile. Jules hands me the bottle of water and sits beside me.
“Thanks,” I take a sip and sit the bottle down. “What’s next?” I ask, I’m ready for the next project.
“All we have to do is put these in this tote here.” She nods toward a tote with a few items in it. “Then we’re done. Alexis and I have been hard at work making sure everything was done. Jane and Libby came over for a couple hours to help before I texted you.” I nod my head in understanding.
“So, does that mean you’re free for dinner?” I ask, I can’t help but smile. She turns to look at me and shakes her head.
“I have my daughter with me.” She says.
“Hey I’m a dad, I get it. It’s not a date, but I’m hungry, you’re hungry... plus we’re working together on this wedding. We’re partners. I can behave myself if you can.” I move closer to her and whisper. “We can be bad together later.” Jules blushes and I laugh. Oh this is going to be fun.
