Chapter 2

I sat quickly up in my bed I could feel the sweat rolling down my spine. A cool summer breeze blew in through my open window. I could taste the salt on my lips, another dream. He was in my head again, he always found a way back in. My alarm clock read 6:00 am the sun was just starting to rise. A perfect time for a run.

After putting my shorts and tank top on I went down the steps into the kitchen to guzzle down a bottle of water before lacing up my sneakers and jogging out the door into the street. This became a habit for me whenever I would get worked up over Matt or exams I would go for a run it would take the edge off.

After about 20 minutes I started to relax until I heard a Motorbike come up the road behind me. Hoping it was someone I didn’t know I kept my head down and quickened my pace. I thought I was in the clear until the bike turned around. I looked up to see Dean pull up beside me.

“Hi Dean. Can I help you with something?”

“What do you think you’re doing? Didn’t anyone tell you were in a gang war?” He growled at me. I cocked my eyebrow at his attitude.

“No and why would they? I’m not in the gang. My family is.”

“Exactly. They know who you are, Princess.” Dean crossed his arms over his chest.

“Don’t call me that.” I snapped. Dean laughed.

“Why not? You’re acting like one.”

“If I was in any real danger don’t you think my Dad would have put a couple guys on me? Or even a Prospect?” I cocked my eyebrow before turning on my heel and running back towards my house.

“Damn it Faye, I’m the one he put on you to protect you. So stop being so goddamn stubborn and get on the bike.” Dean yelled as he pulled up beside me.

“No, and tell Dad I don’t need a babysitter.” I started to run faster. The last thing I needed was one of Dads goons finding out about Matt.

When I got home Dean’s bike was already in my yard I rolled my eyes when I walked in and Dean was standing in my fridge. “You have no food. Not even Milk.”

“I just moved in yesterday Dean, of course I don’t have any food.” I rolled my eyes when he wasn’t looking.

“Get dressed. We’re going grocery shopping. We’re also buying stuff to cook with and plates.” He sat at the bar stool.

“What are you talking about? Why would you go with me to buy all that stuff.” I asked while I crossed my arms standing across the island from him.

“Well since you won’t go to the clubhouse I have to protect you somehow. So it looks like I’m your new roommate.” Dean said in a final tone.

“Like hell. I just met you last night. Tell my Dad no. You’re his VP you have some pull in the gang.” I was frantic. I went to college 22 hours away so I didn’t have to deal with all of this.

“Sorry kid, you’re Dad’s still the Prez not much I can do about it while we’re in lockdown. So stop throwing a fit and get dressed.” I rolled my eyes this time so he could see and took the stairs two at a time. After dressing in a pair of dark skinny jeans and a white flowing crop top with lace in the back I slipped on my boots and went down to see Dean stretched out on my couch reading one of the veterinarian magazines I had on the coffee table.

“You really are boring. You know that?” His mossy green eyes held a bit of humor in them.

“Let’s go” I mumbled as I fixed my glasses. I grabbed my keys and my phone as I walked out the door. I got into the driver’s side of my Dart and watched as Dean tried to squeezed into the passenger’s side.

“Damn it, why is your car so fucking small?” He grunted.

“It probably wouldn’t be if you put the seat back before you got in.” I giggled as Dean’s face went blank when he realized his stupidity.

“Just drive.” He grunted when he finally got in.

After driving for about 10 minutes I realized I didn’t have any cash on me and the farmers market that I use to go to didn’t take Debit. “Um, I need to stop at the bank before we go to the market.” I muttered as I gripped and ungripped the steering wheel nervous about making him mad. I felt the cold sweat start on my neck as I waited for his reply.

“Why the hell would you need money?” He asked almost angry.

“We’re going shopping for my place. I’m not going to steal the food and dishes.” I wasn’t like him. I couldn’t steal.

“We aren’t going to steal anything. I’m paying for it.”

“Why the hell would you pay for it?” I almost snapped.

“Don’t try to argue with me, Faye. We both know I’ll win. Besides between the gang and the underground fighting I can afford it. Trust me.” He said with a firm tone.

A few hours later we we’re all set with a trunk full of food and back seat full with laundry baskets dishes and anything else you could imagine we were on our way back to my place. I was starting to see how it might be a good thing to have Dean around. At least Matt would be more careful if he wanted to break in. When we were about 10 minutes away from home I seen a local SPCA and quickly pulled in, throwing Dean against the car door in the process.

“What? What’s wrong? Did you see someone?” He asked while looking around with his hand inside his vest.

“No, just the SPCA. Please stay in here, I’ll be right back.” I said as I opened the glove box in front of him and grabbed my resumes.

“What the hell are you doing?” He grabbed my arm gently as I was trying to get out of the car. I flinched back almost falling out of the car until I caught my balance.

“I’m going to see about a job.” I said while I fixed my glasses. He nodded his head in understanding as I walked up to the big glass doors.

“Hello, can I help you?” A small blonde lady asked from behind the counter.

“Yes I was wondering if you had a job opening.” I smiled as I walked up to the desk.

“Um, possibly what are you looking for?”

“I’m a vet fresh out of school.”

“Alright let me just grab the director.” She smiled as she walked away. I exhaled a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding.

After a few minutes a tall red haired woman came out of the back with a smile on her face. “Hi my name is Ann, I’m the director here. Could you please follow me?” I followed her to the back office that had 3 cats laying on her desk and another in the window. “Sorry about the cats, please sit down.”

“Thank you” I smiled.

“So tell me about yourself.” She said as she sat back in her chair.

“Well my name is Faye, I’m 25 I graduated with honors one of the tops of my class and I swear to you I would be the best Vet you would hire.” I said as she looked over my resume.

“I’m impressed especially with the letters of reference from these teachers. When can you start Faye?” Ann smiled at me.

“Really? I got the job? Thank you so much Ann. I promise you won’t regret it. I can start Monday if that works for you.” I stood up smiling.

“That’s perfect. Thank you Faye. I will see you Monday.” Ann spoke while shaking my hand.

When I got back out to my car Dean was talking on his phone looking extremely pissed off when he seen me he quickly ended call.

“Hey, how’d it go?” He asked when I climbed in.

“It went good. I start on Monday.” I smiled as I backed the car up.

“We’re gonna have to talk about this Faye.”

“There’s nothing to talk about Dean. I’m going to work I’m a big girl.” This whole body guard thing was getting old fast.

“ If I don’t keep you safe your Dad will cut my balls off and I’ve grown quite attached to them.” He muttered. I rolled my eyes, I knew it was true but I could look after myself. When we got back to my house we put all the food away and got his room setup.

I went into my room after a bit and called my father.

“Hey baby, how’s your new roommate?” He snickered,

“It’s not funny Dad. I can look after myself I don’t need him to stay with me.” I half yelled into the phone.

“Suck it up. He’s there until the threat is over. Understood?” He used his boss voice on me.

“Fine. But I’m allowed to go to work. That’s not an option.”

“Alright.” And with that he hung the phone up. I sat on the stool i had placed in the window with my little table and tucked my head in my hands. I lifted my head when I heard the ding of my phone.

Princess, do you really think having a black harley in front of your big grey house will scare me away? Think again. xoxo’

My breath stopped. No, he’s not in front of my house. I walked over to my night stand and grabbed the cold metal gun and walked down the stairs keeping it close to my side. I opened the front door as I clicked the safety off. I walked around the porch expecting to see his silver sports car but instead seeing an empty street.

“Faye?” I spun around on the balls of my feet pointing my gun at who I thought was Matt.

“Shit, Dean don’t scare me like that.” I muttered as I put the gun down.

“What the fuck are you doing outside with a gun?” He growled as he took the gun out of my hands and clicked the safety back on. Shit….

“Um you said we were under attack and I thought I heard someone out here.”

“If you heard anyone, no matter if it’s only a pizza guy, you call me and I’ll check it out. Understood?” He growled. My father must have seriously threatened him.

“Sure.” I muttered and walked past him.

“Where are you going?” He grabbed my arm looking very pissed.

“To have a bath.” I snapped back. He didn’t know and he wouldn’t if I could help it. If he found out about Matt he would tell my father and he would kill Matt and look at me like the weak and defenseless girl Matt turned me into, I couldn’t let that happen.

After about an hour of soaking in the scalding hot bath I heard a knock at the door.

“Faye, hurry up and get ready. We’re going to eat and then I have a fight.” There was a moment of silence I opened my mouth to argue with him when his gruff voice came through the door again. “ You’re going.”

An hour later I stood in front of my mirror in a pair of skinny jeans, a black sleeveless top, a pair of knee high black boots and a black leather jacket. I did a black smokey eye and left my hair down and wild.

When I got down stairs Dean was standing in front of the door with his arms crossed.

“Took you long enough.” He muttered and turned on his heel and walked out the door. If we were on lock down you would think it would be unsafe to go to an underground fight ring. shaking my head I grabbed my purse off the door and locked the door behind me. I heard the crack of Dean’s bike turn over.

“We’re taking your bike?” I asked nervously.

“Yeah, got a problem with that?” He shot back.

“N-no.” I walked over to his bike. I looked up at Dean and opened my mouth and asked him where my helmet was when he placed it gently on top of my head and clipped it under my chin. Without a word he sat on top of his bike he looked back to me without a word he just lifted one eyebrow. Sighing I turned to swing my leg over the top and held on to the strap on my seat between my legs. It brought back so many memories back when I would ride on the back of my Dad’s bike.

“You ready Princess?” He asked pulling me out of my memories.

“As I’ll ever be.” I sighed.

We drove for about 20 minutes before he pulled in front of one of the towns dinners. After we dismounted he led me inside with his hand on my back. We settled into a booth and a blonde waitress strutted over with the top three buttons undone on her uniform top.

“Hi there, my name is Mindy. Do you need a menu?” She asked Dean. She had her back facing me I rolled my eyes at her desperation.

“Faye, do you know what you want?” Dean looked past Mindy and at me. Snarling she turned her body towards me and took her pen out of her breast pocket.

“Yeah, can I get a Caesar salad and a medium order of fries with an iced tea?” I asked her. My parents use to bring Chad and I here after ‘Church’ on Sundays.

“Sure.” She wrote down my order then turned back to Dean. “What about you sexy?” She placed her hand on top of his arm.

“Yeah I’m gonna have the mega bacon burger with a large fries and a pop.” He said back to her.

“Oh big order for a big man? That’ll be right up, Love.” She sighed and walked away.

“Does that happen a lot?” I laughed at him.

“Yeah, sorry ’bout that.” He sighed as he leaned back in his seat.

“It’s okay, it use to happen a lot with Chad too.” I smile at him. He wasn’t so bad when he was like this. After about 10 minutes Mindy came back with our plates of food and placed it down in front of us. She brushed Deans arm as she walked away he rolled his eyes and I only laughed. I found it hysterical though he must be use to it by now.

“Salad and fries huh? That’s an odd combo.” He mused.

“Well it beat’s eating grease in a bun like you over there.” I smirked.

When we finished eating Mindy brought over the bill and placed it on the table with what I’m guessing was her phone number on it. I reached inside my purse and grabbed my wallet opening it and grabbing twenty dollars out and placing it on the table.

“What are you doing?” Dean asked me with anger in his eyes.

“Paying for my half?” I questioned speaking lightly not wanting to anger him.

“Why would you do that. I told you to come so I’m paying.” He said as he placed a fifty dollar bill down on the table before standing up. I was speechless. In the two years I was with Matt anytime we would go anywhere I would have to pay for my half of it and sometimes his too, and if he ever did pay for my meal I would have to pay him back when he took me home.

“You comin’ kid?” Dean raised his eyebrow in humor.

“Yeah, sorry..” I muttered when we got out to his bike he grabbed the helmet and placed it on my head.

“How old are you?” I ask as he buckled the strap under my neck.

“29. Why?” He answered with one last tug of the strap.

“I’m not much younger than you, so why do you call me kid?”

“Your tiny, if it wasn’t for your tits I would think you were only twelve. If that.” He muttered as he started his bike. My checks flamed that was the first time he has made any sexual comment at me. I looked down to my body, I admit I was small and I looked young for my age but twelve? I was 5 nothing with a D cup for boobs and a small frame. I found as I got on the back of his bike with him. He took off without another word. I let my mind drift with the howl of the wind until we reached ‘The Dome’. That’s what the underground fighting ring was called.

“You ready Princess.” Dean asked as he kicked his kick stand to hold the bike up. I nodded my head and kicked off the bike. I was about to follow Dean when my phone dinged with a text. Dean turned and waited as I checked the message.

Did the big bad biker take my nickname for you Princess? That’s 2 bad. Guess I’ll have 2 call you something else, slut. xoxo
